Is it hard to get past the technological speak of this (starting from first principles), but it does look like it is counter free-market. Giving OEM providers, paid by MS to do the logo thing, the choice of which devices they allow is really anti-competitive. What is the answer to this challenge? Not buy Windows 8? Best regards, Steven.

Yes, with a game world, the more it feels like a "world" rather than a "game" the better. =) Best regards, Steven.
Yes, it does seem to be the foot in the door. Best regards, Steven.
I think this is a case of the way it was presented conditioned repliers to a certain response. Based on what kryo is said, it doesn't sound too bad *provided* it isn't too difficult to make a dual-boot system without jumping through too many hoops (and that doesn't change in future). For the moment I think I'll wait and see, but unless W8 gets absolutely fantastic reviews in all sorts of areas, I think I'll still stick to W7, especially since it has only been a
Well, I don't think Windows 7 has nearly as many security holes as previous versions of Windows. How big an issue is this boot-jacking? Best regards, Steven.
I agree, Alstein. Best regards, Steven.
Well, I think that means a lot of people will not upgrade to Windows 8. I was already unlikely to upgrade Windows 7 anytime soon, this makes it certain that I won't be upgrading my Windows OS for a long time. And I bet MS likes the fact that you wouldn't be able to install any Linux OSs on a Windows 8 OEM system either. Best regards, Steven.
Well, Frogboy has said "recently" that there will be an archival disk for WoM 1.4. =) Best regards, Steven.
I would welcome such a manual, and I think it would make a big difference to the success of Stardock's second Elemental game to have an updated manual for FE, with an option to see differences between different versions (if there are as big changes between versions as in WoM, which is a little bit less likely ;-)). Best regards, Steven.
Thank you, I really appreciate your comment Trojasmic! Although, there is a little bit more evidence with regards to your post, based on the archived posts of mine on this forum. =) Best regards, Steven.
Still, when compared to many things one could do in this world, it is pretty minor, no? And remember to read my final version of my last post. What I do when playing a super hard difficulty of a single player game that is not an Ironman mode like in Nethack, doesn't involve hacking the code or modding myself a huge advantage, and is not used for the purpose of making a public high score - is my business, even if I do choose to reveal some of it for the purposes of letting peop
I would quite happily play an Ironman (no reloading) mode in a game like Elemental or fheroes2 if it was available (and I have enquired about the Ironman mode in regards to Temple of Elemental Evil with hopes of implementing it in fheroes2 - check the Company of Eight boards) and the game was stable enough to prevent losing a whole game to bugs. I enjoy Nethack (specifically Vulture-Nethack I play now) and that has permadeath and no reloading. Best regards, Steven.
There is a really big bug that I am almost hesitant to reveal, because it makes it possible to beat hugely more powerful AI enemies. If you get attacked on a particular turn (either by monsters or other AI players) you can load the autosave for that turn and everything will happen normally, except you will *not* get attacked at all on that turn, and often a 1-2 turn period after. But if you are getting attacked each turn, all you need to do to win is get a good start (and sometime
What was the cause of the bug? What was that weapon meant to do for extra retal damage, and what was it actually doing (bugged damage)? Best regards, Steven.
Heavenfall, I think there may be an error in the weapon the White Wizard has in this savegame . I think the Dual-wielding axe is doing 50.5 TIMES normal retaliation damage rather than 50.5% more. I killed two armies with over a 1000 damage each time in two retaliation attacks. =) Or maybe it multiplies the attack roll by 50.5 and puts it over the normal defence roll, resul
Why are they cutting so many resources and global production? Best regards, Steven.
Some of these things are not easy to fix in WoM by modders alone. Best regards, Steven.
I agree.
I think it would make a big difference if there was an option for ranged and magic attacks in fheroes2 (for HOMM2) and VCMI (for HOMM3) to make use of LoS. A unit "not being able to see a particular unit" means that there is at least one other enemy unit between the friendly unit and the enemy unit you're trying to target. So any enemy unit a ranged unit couldn't see would be untargetable, and any enemy unit or hex not viewable by the currently selected troop (for single t
I don't know why you mention HOMM3 as a game where you can't control the units in battle, because you can in that game. Perhaps you got it confused with some other game? Best regards, Steven.
Yeah, with the After the War patch and Expanded Factions and Artifact, I started with the Golem King (White Wizard), and quickly researched reasonable defense, then picked up Tier 3 dual reapers with over 20 attack. Since you don't have to research Adventure techs any more to pick up Notable Locations, you can make use of the AI's research of Notable Locations to stay in the game. Even though I only have 53 Faction Rating, my White Wizard can do heaps of damage plus has en
Har, har, har! Best regards, Steven.
Hurt them in the long term? I think it could hurt them in the short term as well. Best regards, Steven.
I had them a couple of hours ago, but obviously not at the moment. ;-) Best regards, Steven.
Square can work okay as long as the view isn't diagonal. In HOMM2 the adventure map is square, but the rivers don't look *too* bad. ;-) However in Elemental because you see the squares from the diagonal it is very hard to make rivers that look good (which is almost definitely why they were canned for WoM =)). Best regards, Steven.
