I think "Mike" would already be taken anyway. =)

When did you buy WoM? If you bought it early on, you will get FE with no further cost. Even if you would not purchase another Stardock game, if you get FE for free, why not give it a shot? That's a bit like what Frogboy aims to achieve by giving away subsequent game/s at no further cost - he realizes that he and Stardock dropped the ball with WoM, and he thinks it worth it to take a short term hit, and get a great FE in the hands of as any people as reasonably possible w
Well, if you bought WoM in 2010 you get FE and I think the next game for free. So you wouldn't need to buy FE in that case. Fingers crossed that FE is fantastic, or at least great. =)
I agree. If the AI only rushes sometimes, you never know when you will have to be prepared. ;-)
So it looks like Brad is trying to create a combination of a good and fun AI (in terms of that talk). However, he wants it to be good enough so that it only needs minor tweaks, and only on higher difficulties, such as compensating for the human reloading at start (better starting positions for AI), or reloading during the game (if he implements the "play the battle twice and choose the best result" suggestion). Ways that are more "provide compensation or a small to medium advantag
Yes, I hope it just means that the AI will just rate getting involved in alliances as higher when there's a clearly more powerful player, not that the AI's will get chummy with each other and exclude the player from the get-go.
One of the best Doctor Whos ever. Period.
I think it's useful to be able to shift between skepticism and creativity-based thinking, and evidence and "what if?" based theories. It is very useful to be able to do both, and shift as necessary, or when it seems fun ;-), but this thread is the most fun I have enjoyed on debating for a long time. =)
Thanks for bumping this thread Sinperium! I hadn't before had the privilege of witnessing this astounding spectacle of debating and different but possibly mutually-true viewpoints. Btw: I didn't know that you were colour-blind either. =)
Will the SDC require giving Windows 7/Vista the OK to update itself? I'm guessing yes.
There's not going to be a demo for WOM, but there might be for FE at some stage.
Banned for doing us all a favour, this thread is about banning people, not helping them out! ;-) [e digicons]:P[/e]
Well, unless he gets banned, I don't think we can stop him changing the OP title and text (unless there is an option for the mods to do that).
Do you happen to know who Anybody is? ;-)
I like it see it this way - we are intelligent, but common sense is very uncommon in us. =)
Yes.
Are you calling yourself stupid?
I agree. Luck versus the environment seems to be worth considering for the AI, to compensate for its inability to reload, with minimal interruption or noticeability to the player.
Well, that's good! Just wanted to make sure. It's good that it is possible to play huge maps if the right conditions are met!
AFAIK, the FE beta will be distributed using a new Stardock Central app, which is different from the old one, even though it has the same name. For those who took part in any of the WOM betas, the FE beta will begin on 19 January, otherwise for people who bought WOM later the FE beta will begin for them on 26 January. Hope this info helps, and best wishes for the new year! =)
Do you have 64-bit Windows and the large address patch? I think the main problem with big maps is that there can be too many towns and units for the game to handle, and really you need 64-bit Windows and the large address aware patch to run big maps.
Merry Christmas 2011 and a Happy New Year 2012! =)
Gee, that's totally unethical, and probably illegal, if not just wrong.
How greedy is that!
I had actually already posted what you needed to do here , in reply to your first query about the mods.
