Looks like the lines are choked now. Even though I can normally get 400KB/s, I am getting less than 100KB/s (sometimes only half that) at 5.45 EST.

Yes, that would be good (not "google"). =)
AFAIK, the beta version of FE will download an updated data blob each time it is started, so apparently mods won't be able to be made just yet. And I don't think there will necessarily be a workaround like in previous (WoM) betas. =) EDiT: Beaten by 26 seconds. =)
No. The FE beta will be available from Stardock only. However the full release is likely to be available from multiple DD providers.
Deleted my post.
If that was in fact Stardock's August 23, I'm not sure either.
AFAIK, if you pre-ordered, ie. purchased WoM *before* the day it was released, then you get on the first boat. Otherwise, if you bought it on release by the end of 2010, you get on the second boat a week later. =)
I'm interested in an up-to-date reply to this topic too. =)
I agree with a lot of your points, but the way I see it, nobody and no company is perfect. Stardock has been trying to make the best replacement they can for the failed WoM and if that means that the initial release has to come without MP, I understand. Especially since many are getting FE and possibly the next Elemental title for free/no additional cost. And as you can see from Frogboy's responses, they have already put a lot of infrastructure into MP for FE, so I would
Yes, media is classic for not directly saying they support something (SOPA and PIPA) but by what they report, and how much emphasis they place on it, show how biased they really are towards the big interests.
I am disappointed too. I think the reason to ditch MP, even co-op MP, was for the wrong reasons. I do hope at some time in the future SP-style MP is introduced, but it is perfectly okay if that is just too late for you. But I definitely will be lobbying for co-op MP to be introduced as a significant feature in an expansion pack of FE.
Contact Stardock from the account you ordered WoM from and make sure. It would help you have your purchase email, but I'm pretty sure they would have your pre-order details on file.
I don't know what the criteria for the staggering of sending the beta emails is, but I wouldn't give up hope just yet. Or if you're still worried, contact Stardock via the account that pre-ordered WoM. I think they will be aiming to get to all the pre-order customers they can.
And the sarcasm meter hits 200... ;-)
Totally agree with you Sir Linque.
I would agree with Stardock bringing in SP-like multiplayer as *one* of the selling points of an expansion to FE. Even if multiplayer isn't really, really, popular, introducing it along with some other fun new features would be a good basis for an expansion I think. I agree with introducing SP-like multiplayer for friends (ie. no online competitive with people you don't know) via LAN and TCP/IP, and hopefully with support for custom modded servers so we could play Heavenfa
Yes, that was the major problem with it. I think it should stay as already organised, 19th for those who pre-ordered, and 26th for everyone else who bought WoM in 2010.
Yes. I agree that if the Raise and Lower, Destroy Land etc. spells are in the game they should be high level and expensive. Terraforming should be tough work!
I mean a client on the local computer, not using a browser. Is that available yet? Where can you get it?
Apparently, the beta is only for those who bought WoM in 2010, according to Frogboy.
Well, I guess I have used it before now. However I don't think the client is available yet.
Well we can't have everything, can we (although that would be nice ;-)).
Well, I'm sure the game won't be released until the standard factions are approximately on the same level power-wise. Remember, the whole game has to work well for FE to be a success. And I don't think Stardock will be content with, "nice try but too unbalanced".
Well, I don't think people against the bills will stop fighting against them just yet.
Remember the world, apart from the starting position, is a lot more dangerous now. So that should help things a bit, as you can't just focus all your energies in wiping out the AI before it can get started like you can in WoM.
