Normal should be rated as normal and not as beginner. Multiple times I had an outpost or a city completely unprotected and the AI did not destroy it or take it over. And even sometimes the neutral creatures that had been incorporated into my territory didn't attack when they would have wiped out my only city's militia.

Frogboy, what is the technical reason for loading from within the game and new games from within the game causing major instabilities? Is it to do with not de-allocating memory from all those threads?

You could make it so you get +1 point for every level divisible by 3 or 4 (depending on its power), or something like that. And if you got it later you would get the bonus for the previous divisible levels retrospectively. So it would always give a decent bonus (maybe if it always gave +1 stat point on the level-up it was gained on, and then +1 for every 3 or 4 full levels etc. you gained) but not be as OP as +1 Strength/Dexterity/Constitution every single level which means effect

Ashampoo Magical Defrag 3 defrags your computer whenever it is idle, which means you don't have to worry about manually starting the defrag process at all. =)

You can't hire, you can only attack champions of opposite alignments (ie. you can only attack Kingdom champions if you're an Empire, you can only attack Empire champions if you're a Kingdom). The higher level champions for your side have technology requirements on the Magic tree.

I've found that when running in a standard Windows account, you need to do something else - either running from the command line as the last poster said or right-clicking on the FE link and selecting "Run as administrator" and putting in the admin password.

I think for the initial beta it is the same as it was in WoM, 99 turns. But I expect that will be changed, and/or allowing breaking it with diplomatic penalties from the faction you betrayed and other factions too.

Hmm, I like the idea of a level cap, maybe it could be increased a few times by certain technologies or super-hard-to-get treasures, but there should be a maximum level. However perhaps you could still get extra hitpoints from more experience above that, but stat increases and extra abilities would stop occurring.

Well, the email would go to the email address you registered in when you purchased WoM pre-order/beta access, so if that's changed, that would explain why you haven't got the email. However, you can login to the Stardock Store at download.stardock.com and it should show both Elemental: WoM and FE beta in it. If it doesn't, contact the [email protected] email address.

I have a new 64-bit version of Windows 7 Pro and would like to test FE Beta out to compare memory usage etc. compared with my 32-bit version of Windows 7 Pro. For the record I currently have 4 GB of RAM. Can I get it to work by copying the C Drive stuff from the 32-bit installation to the new C Drive in Win7 64 bit?

I agree. I would much rather have a city screen with information and pictures on all the buildings in it, and have all cities take up one square (but zone of influence still spreading out to encompass more of the countryside), or only have bigger cities take up more than one square.

It may be a good idea to set the autosave to every 1 turn so that if the game crashes, the most you lose is 1 turn of play.

We won't have to download the whole game again to get 0.76 will we? I take it the updated data blob will allow the changes?

Frogboy mentioned about a pitboss type infrastructure having been set up. This is where you login and take your turn when it is convenient. However I am guessing that tactical battles would need to take place at one time, as people taking different turns one by one would be very slow, except if they were in the same time zone and logged in for a while. But still, a pitboss type solution would be a quite interesting way of getting around the problem of everyone having to have

Reply to Downloading :) in FE Beta

Most of the time I am getting less than 100 K/Bytes per second (read: 100KB/s is 2 x dialup speed), sometimes a little bit over that. Any other Aussies having low download rates for the beta? At the rate it's going on my computer, it would be another 4 hours, minimum before it's finished (and then I'm relying on it not being a corrupted download). I'm tempted to go over to my parents' house and see whether it is restricted to my connection and oth

I don't think I have a throttled connection, but in Firefox too (I am using Pale Moon), it is less than 100KB/s. Is the download speed based on a percentage of your normal download speed, or is there some problem with certain international lines?
