Secrete what, ink? If there is a secret, I don't know it, as I've never tried. From what I understand you should be able to choose to retreat from once you reach the edge of the map, but there are a lot of unintuitive interface features, so I know it might take awhile to figure out what to click on after that.

I know that when I first started Beta 2 I wrote a glowing bit of praise for the game on my old guild's website, advising people that for a beta it was shaping up nicely. I've since been wondering what exactly I should do, should I post and tell anyone thinking about buying it to hold off? Because I know that I was very much looking forward to playing Elemental for the campaign. I actually thought that there would be some meat and potatoes to the campaign that is now being called a glorified t
Same issue, just updated to the newest drivers because I hadn't updated this month, to no avail.
That is until DRM evolves to a point where pirating is more effective, which I doubt will ever happen.
What do you mean by effective? I mean, a pirated copy vs a DRM'd copy with some insane garbage like Ubisoft's constant monitoring will -clearly- affect performance. Now, we all know that those of us who scrimp and save our pennies up so that we can upgrade our machines sometimes let them get a bit older than we woul
Don't feel too bad, I played the beta and it took me a bit to figure out to click on the resource within your influence to build on it. Lets hope the day 0 patch addresses a great many of these concerns about the vague nature of the start of the game when you'd expect a tutorial. As for your city, you need huts. It would seem like more mouths to feed and peasants to clothe would be a detriment to your fledgling community, but it will actually give you more population which opens the door to t

You need to visit the wreckage of your ship.
Things have a chance of coming up, if you don't get it the first time you see it it might not be there the next time, but it will come back around and you'll have a chance at it then.
What bothers me is when I get a new game on Steam and someone somewhere has decided that despite being on Steam which is itself a form of DRM I need some additional invasive garbage. Elemental is the first game I've purchased through Impulse, and I'm happy to purchase Stardock products because they don't apply that sort of thing to their own games. Now as for the other games they host, I won't be purchasing any that come with crazy DRM, I learned my lesson when I preordered GTA IV from Steam.

I just updated to the latest version of elemental a few moments ago and I sat back down to play the campaign from where I had left off. The auto turn was running constantly, and turned my 10-20fps (not stellar but functional) into 10-20 frames per minute. Of course then I realized that the game was constantly auto-ending turns (maybe because I had a caravan going?). Anyway I just thought that someone else might get into the game and have a similar situation and th
the Beyond the Sword mod Rise of Mankind adds a mode that is slower than marathon called epic, along with a ton of new techs. If you haven't checked it out, it'll probably be a good way to pass the time until we get our hands on Elemental.
I'd be interested in finding someone who was interested in modeling the Vord and Canim units I'd need for a Codex Alera mod. Short of that, I guess I'd be happy to find see a Werewolf or Wolf-man model I could use as an asset for the Canim. Since the Vord tend to take the shapes of their enemies I would probably have an easier time reskinning models and making subtle changes than creating the Canim outright.
You can tell the quality of a power supply by the weight of the supply. It may say it's 200 watts higher, but if it's less weight than the 500 watt Cooler Master, then it's not a quality supply. The more heat spreaders in a supply the longer it will last. That being said what brand is the supply you got from the repair service? Often time manufacturers warranty their products and all you may need for a new supply is an RMA number, which you may be able to get with as little as a serial number
I agree that it's nice to see a game that is so readily modified. I haven't modified any game since Civ II and I've got to admit, I normally don't consider the sort of long term commitment it entails to get a mod project off the ground. However, with the tools at our disposal I'm considering trying to do just that. The mod would be sort of an Alpha Centauri meets Elemental in gameplay (in that there would be a substantial aggro to all AI presence that would need to be expunged or subverted in
I do like the idea of Wargs adding more to attack, while Horses could move a little faster. Additional variation between the two available mounts would be nice. Cosmetic differences are one thing, but a statistical difference makes sense when the change is something as stark as riding a carnivore instead of an herbivore. Of course I am also of the opinion that there should be differing mounts within the two categories. Not every foal is cut out to be a warhorse. Heck, I'd like to see a c
What I'd like to see would be a more colorful description of what the various options do. I mean it would feel more interesting to me if it said something like "By alternating which crops you grow in your fields you can gain an additional 30% food production" or "By devoting additional workers to the local mine, you can increase your metal production by 30%". I think it would add a little bit more to picking which bonus you received.
I usually notice these issues right away in games, but I have had my secondary monitor disabled to prevent this issue from occurring in another game, so I never did notice it in Elemental. At any rate, seconded. I hate when any new title ships without the ability to keep the cursor from drifting off onto the other monitor and pulling you out of your game.
That is odd, perhaps they force the children to toil all day, making souvenirs to sell to the tourists.
Although you can't for example, purloin a greatsword some hapless merchant is wielding before he injures someone. Personally, I would like to be able to trade off starting gear as well.
I like the idea of the spellbooks containing a particular spell. And perhaps if you had diplomatic ties to a nation you could give it to them as a gift, which would be especially useful if the particular spell was one that wasn't in a spellbook you possessed. If not, you could always sell it.
