Well I don't know if I'll be eager to be on the bleeding edge of a Stardock release again, but I can at least play the game until I decide to stop now, instead of experiencing something game stopping and getting frustrated and not wanting to mess with it any more.

I just hope I don't have to restart again, I restarted once to see the revamped start with 1.05, again when 1.0618 came out, and again because I was forced to for 1.0619 I guess if they patch again I'll slog through the rest of the campaign before I update if it's incompatible with previous saves.

I feel your pain, I restarted for 1.06, went AFK awhile, came back and got 1.0619 and it invalidated the saved game I had just restarted for 1.0618 and to make matters worse earlier in the day I had continued a save from when I restarted when 1.05 came out even though I had made it to chapter 5. Lets just say I'm getting really efficient at playing the first bits of the game.

Listen, this is a turn based strategy game. You're lucky that there's tactical battles at all. Mo

Well I didn't want to take any chances, so I restarted the campaign, so far so good on most things. My first play session I ended voluntarily since release. Caravans and autoturn seem to play nicely, no white screen on every third combat is nice as well, not to mention that it seems a lot easier to select the units you're trying to attack in combat, although the fact that you can only click on the square at their feet and not on the unit's model is somewhat annoying with extremely large units

Not a good omen.
If you read through the thread you'll see a Stardock employee telling people they have to start a new campaign for 1.06, so if you're talking about a campaign save game that's probably why.
I enjoyed GalCiv 2. I enjoyed SOSE even though the game amounts to GET A CAP SHIP AND GO (Entrenchment didn't change that for me). I enjoyed Demigod, even though it took months of patches for you guys to figure out the save function (favor point purchase glitch?). What I read before launch read that combat in this is the same - BUILD MEAT AND GO - I think you missed a lot of feedback in the beta by postponing bug fixes (which I could underst

I've quoted this guy claiming to be an ex Real Time Worlds employee in another thread, but I'm going to quote the relevant bits again because I think this a perfect example of what happened here. "...game development is a weird business. A game can play poorly right up until only a few months before release, for a variety of reasons – Crackdown was awful right up until a month or two before it came out (some would say awful afterwards, too, but I’m try

I'd like an option for less and less every minute. The more I think about it the more disgusted and frustrated I feel. Many people voiced concerns that we weren't allowed to test the "finished" code. People voiced concerns that despite the fact we were assured they were taken care of we kept experiencing the same bugs over and over, on beta version after beta version. We were assured that everything would work out fine by release day. Now everyone is telling people that
I'm trying to figure out exactly what happened at Stardock to make them release the game in it's current state. I can only assume it to be a case of budget related pressure combined with Molyneux Syndrome. I never played the early pre-patch release to hopefully avoid a bad first impression, but I should have probably waited longer. I have to agree with with a lot of the things I've been reading, and I dont think I have anything else to add to any of critisms so th
"Disappointed" is the closest poll option for me. Really, there should be a "I like it, and will stick with it because I know Stardock will do right by Elemental, but I can't really recommend it right now" option.
Doesn't that fit pretty well under the heading "Disappointed"?

I have that processor, and other than an annoyingly low framerate (probably due to the fact that the processor is doing all the rendering) and the infamous white screen during combat bug, the game runs just fine. Frogboy is clearly mistaken. This game is designed to be able to be run on netbooks in cloth map mode, if Frogboy is blaming the Black edition Athlonx2 then perhaps he's simply looking for a scapegoat. My OS, proc, and RAM are all very similar to yours (I have a flat 3gb) and

Ahhh, it seems that they must have overcompensated for what was a simple issue with not having any minimum for their child stats. While it was annoying having a child with 1hp, this is arguably worse. After all, the

I posted this same thing when I first updated from 1.0 to 1.01 or whatever that interim patch was called. I believe it's related to the caravans. Personally I had hoped that restarting the game was going to fix my issue, as I loaded a save from 1.0 and that caravan never moved once I turned off auto turn, but the new caravan I started worked fine. Were you loading an older game after patching, or did this start as soon as you launched your initial caravan?
You know, that whole "It'll never be finished" thing just doesn't make sense to me. When you stop working on something, stop putting out patches and new content, and start working on something else or it's sequel, whatever you stopped working on is "finished". Gal Civ 2 turned out to be an Awesome game. It's my Favorite Space 4X game now, even taking the place of MoO2. As a player though, I consider Gal Civ 2 to be a "Finished game". Unless Stardoc
