League of Legends. I was in the closed beta and never got back into the game until awhile before the release of Elemental. I wasn't expecting the release version of Elemental to be so disappointing, but at least I have something to do until Civ V is released.

I wish that after a city was razed, there would be the rubble and ruins of a city, which could then be built on for less than the original cost of building structures and the like. Right down to Supreme Commander's style of letting you place buildings anywhere in the rubble, but having interface clues as to where the structure was previously placed that could be rebuilt at a reduced cost. While I understand a wooden house can be burned down, a palace made of marble and stone is unlikely to bu

I can understand how easy it is to be offended by constructive criticism and blind to imperfections in a project which you're close to. The Elemental launch wasn't what very many people hoped it would be. It's really a shame, because I can still see the beautiful game which I saw in it when I started Beta 2. I'd like nothing more than to have Stardock and Elemental bounce back from this fiasco. Unfortunately the gaming community isn't exactly the sort of place where "any publicity is go

It's more like ordering an italian sub (ham, salami, pepperoni, lettuce, italian dressing, various other vegetables), but instead you get a salad with italian dressing, some cold cuts, and a couple breadsticks. And then your friend, an accomplished modder - I mean, cook - leans over and points out that if you pile some o

Also when a unit tries to pathfind over a particularly long distance, such as from your first town in the campaign up to the town where you start harvesting crystal, it acts like you're selecting impassable terrain (it doesn't move at all).

Well I'll put it like this, it was about the time they added the Wars and the Magics that I stopped having any interest in playing the beta. It might have been better for the book and the game if Brad had hired a ghost writer for the book and focused on the game exclusively. Eventually the AI should improve, although the quality of Destiny's Embers is now pretty much set in stone.

The engine is amazing, the potential is there, but currently the actual game design, mechanics, balance and AI are all quite bad and shallow. I do really want this game to be a success and end up as a classic of the genre, which is why I'm still on these forums. I guess we'll see what they can do&

This was a gown. This was silk or something." How can you doubt this book becoming an instant classic? I can't believe I was actually interested in picking that up at some point.

Threads like this, with the quick dev response to a question that many developers would either shrug off or ignore (by locking the thread and any like it), is why I still have some faith in Elemental and Stardock. I just won't ever purchase another Stardock game until I read the review, a policy that very few games or developers warrant exception of. Even titles that, by all rights, should have shipped without issue like GTA IV (AAA title, RockStar having plenty of a budget to port the game f

While it's nice to know that those who feel they want a refund won't be hassled, I'd like to think that a lot of people are able to wait until everything they feel is wrong with the game is addressed. Then again, for those living paycheck to paycheck, a night at the movies this weekend may well be worth buying the game again when Book II is released.

Personally if I were going to shut out all thoughts of Elemental for the time being, I'd wait until they released Book III, and see what sort of reviews it gets. The critical acclaim (or lack thereof) should speak volumes about whether or not Stardock lived up to their commitment to making Elemental the gem that some of us feel it should have been at release.

Stardock is really just saying that, for the first year where they were planning on releasing book II and it's seagoing adventures as a for pay expansion, they'll now be releasing it

There seems to be an issue that's causing crashes on all brands of video cards and processors, although who knows, maybe it will trace back to something with SSE2 extensions and your research will prove invaluable.

It's not just normal, it seems to happen to a large percentage of the player base, and it has been doing so since the early Betas.

Personally, although I've had a good experience with Elemental since 1.0619 I'd recommend instead of FFH2 you check out Planetfall, an Alpha Centauri remake, or maybe Rise of Mankind, which adds a ton of new techs and gameplay to Civ IV/BTS (bts required). Check back in a week or two, by then a lot of the kinks will be worked out, and if you're too busy with Civ V the month after that Elemental will keep. As a matter of fact, if you didn't purchase Elemental until the first expansion came out
