BG was good for its time. Its not so good anymore. Same thing with Planescape Torment. Its sorta time to move on.
See. I think THIS is the main reason people can't see video games as art. In the video game world, it's a constant rat race to get to the next prettiest game, instead of trying to develop the next greatest game. Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment are works of art in the gaming world. They're amazing regardl
Strange, I just ended ME2 and thougth it was the best RPG since Planescape: Torment. Maybe because i dont need stat juggling, stupid loot lists (especially in Sci-Fi games) or useless skill lists in my RPG's. JMHO of course. PS: Also i find the ME triology story leaps and bounds better then the BG story. Never ended BG2, so i cant comment on that one.
I highly doubt you played BG2 at all. o.O BG1
Am I really the only person who can't stand the new (ie. post-KotOR) Bioware games? Mass Effect and Dragon Age have clichéd (and, in Dragon Age's case, blatantly stolen) settings and plotlines (which have exactly the same plotline as KotOR, basically). I don't know, I just found Mass Effect and Dragon Age to be hilariously dull, in terms of character development, plot development, combat (good at first, soon got repetitive), etc etc. Giving credit where it's due
I certainly am glad I'm never buying Blizzard games again. I'm not going to get fucking stalked after I post on the forums.
IIRC Blizzard tried for the license to use WH40K at that time and got turned down. But they wanted that game to badly they changed some names and did it anyway.
So.... Just Warcraft over again? :p
Well, Blizzard originally did Warcraft (although you'll never get them to admit to this) as a game for Games Workshop, which they eventually rejected, hence many, many, MANY of the very obvious similarities between the cultures in the first two Warcraft games and Warhammer Fantasy orcs. The storyline was different, but that's merely level design. There was a shit tonne of retcons in Warcraft 3 to distance them. (EDIT: NINJA'D THIRTY MINUTES AGO Dx) It wouldn't be surprising if Starcra
As for me, I’m playing around with the random map generation which is admittedly in pretty rough shape (i.e. a LOT of hard coded values in there). For instance, in your build, there are 40 goodie huts on a map. No more. No less. Regardless of size. The bigger the map, the more boring it will get. Of course, have too many goodie huts and it robs the game of challenge. Too few and the game feels boring.
I would not play an Eragon or whatever mod. Derivative mod of derivative books. It would be terrible. "PLAY AS BLAND, GENERIC MARY SUE #20321 IN THIS BLAND, GENERIC FANTASY WORLD."
NO, we discussed long way how shards are too much powerful and needed, surely there is something to improve in the shards gameplay but its absolutely not their strenght, shards already do too many things
But, they don't. They WERE involved in too many spells, but now they aren't.
I have to say, I love having peripheral hobbit villages supplying my major production centres in MoM. It was genius, and I do think it'd work well in Elemental. Maybe have a bonus for the percentage of space / groupings of the various similar type buildings? So, a village with all it's spaces (except one) filled with gardens should probably produce more food than a city with half it's buildings as gardens? Just hand wave it with "application of labour". I did like being able t

I think food should be less abstracted. Population should be based off food and housing. A larger housing allows a larger population, but population can grow beyond your food limit and that causes starvation (negative prestige). Don't make houses cost food, it doesn't make sense and it's far too arbitrary since - once you've got to a high housing bonus - you can feed a few hundred people on two food.

I'll be happy to help out in any capacity I can, (ie. writing, proof reading, tile design, mod design, no programming though.) if you decide you need any. =p I'll certainly be happy to do any testing for you. ;D
Thumbs up for this. [e digicons]k1[/e]
I'd much rather have "just an engineer" over the new Peter Molyneux. Fame went straight to that guy's head.
Nope. Just remade a world, and now he's casting desecrate land like usual. 100% Trog.
My custom fallen sovereign who was the leader of a custom Empire cast revive land instead of desecrate or whatever. So, I had pretty land instead of deathly stuff. =p
I don't think of it as mages getting punished for using it. I think of it as Essence giving mages more mana, so they're encouraged to use it wisely. If you have Essence affect Con, then if a mage uses some he'll lose both mana and HP. Now, if Essence gave warriors *extra* hp and the less you have the lower the bonus, then that would be a different story. You'd just have to find a good way to differentiate between a "warrior" and "mage" that's not
Clearly, Brad should pack a miniature person into every box and have them play hotseat with us to alleviate him of any AI pains. Agreed, guys? It sounds considerably easier than what you're currently doing, anyhow. =p
I'd tap that.
I wish to echo the sentiment of "you poor bastard". Apparently, the whole thing is pretty much a Mormon propaganda book. Mormon love triangles, Mormon beliefs in marriage and love etc etc. Trust me, the first book / movie is super creepy in terms of the way the guy acts.
