tengill, im about the same. just get 7 hours of sleep.... thatll leave you 5 hours for 'other stuff'
ogredpowell
mallorean, thanks there probbly is a way to do it- units get upgraded hit points from being in a city, more so when you have city defenses. so....maybe it is worth looking into.
why do you build me up, buttercup baby just to let me down? exactly how i felt .....update available...>WOOHOO!!!! invalid registry....DOH!!!
k probably would = a big fat fail in my part due to my lack of experience
I'm interested in working on/getting help with a mod to make 'wizard towers' similar to age of wonders. The idea is to be able to build a tower in high level city (4-5), and have one per faction. This tower would serve as a 'base' for a sovereign, that would give increased Essence as well as essence generation. It would also either a) extend the range of his spells (including being able to cast in combats that your champions are in, like Age of Wonders) a sp
I'm glad we all more or less agree on this....lets hope it gets noticed.....
I just want to put a plug in again for some other way to rebalance. I'm especially a fan of how master of magic did it (ie 6 soldiers in a unit has 6 times x attacks, whatever x weapon is). This really is key... the current method of just adding it all together doesnt seem balanced currently. I wouldnt mind a bodygaurd or 'attach a champion to a unit' method was used either. I just really hope this is changed before the game comes out this month.
I dont know twohawks- with fantasy i LIKE to have epic heroes. 1) my caster sovereign /high level hero spellcaster SHOULD be able to devestate armies 2) my warrior champion (at high levels) should be an epic warrior, able to defeat a couple of companies in battle. and hopefully be attached to units/etc Should 1 hero overwealm an entire end game army? No (unless its teh sovereign). But epic heroes should well be....epic and legendary.
happens to me too
Lord cobol, it does. Humans cant seem to wear fallen armor (i like the way it looks better too :( ) and for some reason i cant always get female characters to wear cloaks
Thanks for the help. However, I was USING that method (ie i was clicking on the resource, and it would NOT give me the build option). This only happened using the empires, and it was only with timber mills.
how are you getting four children? im getting like 1. and yes, i do hope they get boosts as well. theyre useless currenly
i like it that you get a 'discount' for the full set, but i agree that it shouldnt be higher.
yes. agreed. also, let my troops gain experience....and with experience, new abilities based on weapons (ie if you give it a spear, let it get 'first strike' or somehting like tha
point taken about the 1 vs thousands. yeah one hero shouldn't win. However, I DO worry about obsoleteness of champions/summons, as well as uses of small elite units of soldiers vs larger groups (a party versus a squad). I dont want a hero crushing an 100 man army. I do want my hero (upgraded/high level) able to beat a company, even a company of 'knight' type units. Id also think it would be neat if units
I'm a bit confused with how this is going to work in the final game. With a party of units, how do the stats function exactly? Is it planned to just be a sum of all the units attacks and defenses? (ie a party of spearmen with 5 attack will have a 20 attack, and THAT value is used?) or is it going to be master of magic style? (when attacking, each individual unit has 5 attack. Therefore, when attacking, each spearman 'rolls' an attack
I fully agree with the Master of Magic approach to squads and parties of units.
Im sure someone will make a 'Game of Thrones' mod for elemental. Wonder which will be better? (something tells me the mod for elemental will be....)
Two issues- One is when playing fallen, I cannot equip my human champions (and kraxis human soverign' with armor. I get a message saying 'this does not fit unit'. I had the same issue with a Kingdom 'Soldier's cloak' not working on muveratha (that resarching champion). Second: when playing as fallen, there are 3 techs that have in their description 'can now build timber mills'.&nbs
In reply 35 i really liked some of symondus' ideas. namely, balancing attack and defense. Can we have a clarification how units will work? will it be like MOM, were each man in a party of spearmen 'rolls' an attack (and defense), and killed individually? Or will the units stats simply be a sum of all 4 soldiers in a pary? Overland magic: agree with everything said. Diplomatic capital: i like
Played some 3c- great improvement over 3B. AI is coming along! A lot better (still got a ways to go...but great job!). Graphics look sharper, less crashes, and the number of quests/spawned huts seems a LOT better. One comment that ties into game mechanics is pacing. It feels better in this version but it still feels off. I find im not really building much more than 'individual' troops (no parties, squads, etc) until later in the
edpfister, i'm glad you like (more or less) my ideas! hanks for posting.
@ deadly shoe: YES! I love the king arthur quest system! (very enjoyable game until late (act IV), when the game keeps on spawning all sidhe armies. ruined the fun for me). The king arthur text boxes would be a great way to flesh out the quests, with a move to the tactical combat if a fight occurs. It would also be neat to have two types of battles.....one with your entire army, others with 'your sovereign and champions only' wouldn't require too mu
shameless bump so people can tell me what they think /so the devs see it.
I really like your idea related to hitpoints. This allows a unit to become more 'sturdy' and still allowing other abilities. Essence increasing....ok. I like the fact that magic is rare and makes you powerful (ala Glen Cook's black company) but you can still be ambushed/killed. As long as this doesnt shoot essence through the roof, cool. Although I like your other ideas it seems to get a bit complicated. I remember when i first played a D&a
