They don't have to be balanced, perhaps the water shrill is just the weakest of the four.

I suppose I might be one that you listed as a critic. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the game and play quite a bit. The things I listed are just direction turns that take away from my game experience. Channelers are too common, champions are over powered immortals, and I miss some aspects of the dynasty system.
Currently somewhere around 7 or so. I feel that the game does not deserve 8, because due to bad synergy of its parts, bland and uninteresting tactical combat and lore that feels like it was generated by a computer. Hell, even Dwarf Fortress RNG sometimes comes with better emergent stories than what I read in that book whose name I cannot spell properly. Howerver, I like the artistic style, the music, and a lot of effort obviously was invested t

Are we talkin gabout the Delin Guy, or the Fire Elemental Guy that usually has a few Ignys with him. I have not faced Delin for quite sometime time. The few times I did, he breaks apart into several fire elementals and ignys. I think he should stay as the same big figure and should have all kinds of fire spells. If it is the Fire Elemental guy that seems fairly common, I would not mind seeing an upgrade in his spell. Coal Stones
That's not a balance argument. Also, damaged units replenish with presumably new troops when they heal.
exactly, units of a group get killed in action, they reinforce their numbers, and they are at the same experience.

7.5 out of 10 for me. It would be an 8 out of 10 if I was not involved in WoM and/or the Beta. One of the biggest pluses is the ability to customize even the random maps. Controlling the amount of shards, resources, monsters, champions, enemies is a great feature. Then choosing the level of the world and the opponents gives an endless array of game choices which makes FE replayable. Developer Choices I wish were different and really d

I would certainly like a closed borders option. I also think it would be good to volunteer some of your troops. You could possibly even set up a time limit, if they live, they can come back.
I have not thought through all of the possibilities you raise, but note that we have two of these already: We can already offer tribute, and a non-aggression pact seems equivalent to "Open borders". If you play "Dust Bowl" you need to get use to fighting Large Albino Rock spiders, and lots of them. There are dens everywhere, and they travel in packs of three all over the place. What a fun map!

The bonuses discussed are great. But the Governor needs to start getting experience for being stationed in a city. Without that it is very difficult to select the Governor option. I do for the growth and unrest bonus, but it is few and far between, or late in the game.
General reply: PLEASE PLEASE DON'T change him!! He's the kind of frustration factor that makes me love this game more!
Completely agree. After so many years of wandering, give him a pet dragon.

I tried hitting him with Strategic Spells. I would run out of Mana before you even do any significant damage to him. He recofers a lot every turn. Unfortunately the one time I ran into him, was about mid way in the game, I did not have enough mana to really jurt him on the strategic map. The Unearthed Titan is a significant problem. I pretty much just gave him that portion of the map and let him have it. I never did beat him.

I didn't have a problem with getting attacked. Like I said, the Skaths were just my fault, I wanted to build up a little bit of a force to deal with them and my city expanded before I did it. That's my fault. The Drake, that is a little confusing. I was playing a larger map and if it was the one I saw, it was pretty far for it to get there that fast. It had to move in a pretty direct route, I don't think my sovereign could have caught up wi
I left a settlement spot alone because there was a dragon near it. Later, Gilden moves a pioneer in and settles. The Dragon gets pissed and immediately beelines for my cities. I'd sent every unit I had available to the two cities it was threatening... And the dragon wouldn't attack me in the cities... It kept wandering about. My sovereign was off in foreign lands adventuring, and I didn't thin

I agree the Great Wolf is awesome, howl is a useful ability through the game. The Umberdroth is also a great target. If you need help early in the game and don't want to or can't wait, the cave bear is also a solid choice. The Cave Bear with several levels can be awesome. The Beast Lord ability Tame is the same thing as a collar except you always have it 40 mana is cheap for what you can get. I had an army of three umberdroths led by a great
The problem with the balance of the Pariden and Resoln races, is this: If I am going to create a custom faction, what are my options? Men, Trogs, Ironeers, and Quendar have useful bonuses and a special troop. Why, for any reason pick Amarians or Wraith as the race to form your faction? There is really no good reason, so in this, the lack of balance limits my choices. I'm not saying make them all completely equal,
The problem with balance, is the use of the word balance. It seems to mean different things to different people. Danger: Hyperbole ahead!!! In WoM, I would ask, "Why do my soldiers who sword and board do 1 point of damage while the ones that use 2 handed weapons do 100K points of damage? Why would I ever use a one handed weapon and shield?" To me, that is a balance issue. Bad balance takes away choices, goo
