Oh my. Started a new game last night. Had a great capital city, a good second city, lots of outposts because I was in the desert and there was no land to settle but still quite a bit resources. I had upgraded the Altarian Defender to ride wargs and have upgradeable everything--I like the Athican longsword. My power ranking was drastically behind the Verga and Magnar. However, everytime I ran into their troops I would absolutely dominate--perhaps they had la

I would like a level up option that could eliminate some of the injuries. Again I would think you would need to classify them into major and minor. I still want major injuries that are permanent. A champion lost an arm or something--that would add some character to the champions. I also like the OP that develops quests to eliminate injuries.

Actually both Master of Magic and Master of Orion also took part of your population when sending out a "settlers" or "colony ships". In Master of Orion you could also send additonal people using transports. I don't think this will address the issue of spamming completely because most of the time the pioneer is used to set up outposts. Outposts also need costs--money, material, time. If you want to add a small population drop to the parent city. I
Cons: If roaming monsters aren't reset to guarding lairs after they destroy ZOC offending structures, then releasing them early could be a game break (MASSIVE NEGAITVE FUN). Imagine home city being target because lazy AI pioneer got an outpost next to that Drake stack....
Yes. It is not fun now because the AI spams everything with pioneers, activate monsters that ignore the AI and go af
I have no problem with any creature destroying cities (even if it was a pack of cute little puppies) as long as it can do this to the AI. In AOW:SM we had created hundreds of creatures that we put in the maps to make the monster/neuteral creatues a lot more dangerous and challanging for all players AI and human and it turned out pretty good. And yes we even had some cutesy critters than will destory your towns if your not care

loggerhead: I completely agree. I certainly want to feel some trepidation when I fight an army that is led by a champion, but when I run into the army that is led by the sovereign it should be epic. Right now they are all just splish splashed together. Too many champions, and not enough separation between champion and sovereign.

I actually do not mind the maps. I do think multiple land masses would be beneficial, and perhaps naval units could be addressed later. The map I actually want to play is the map from the story with the two big land masses joined by the hinge--I would like that map to be a choice instead of always being random. That map looks fun. The monsters seem to be a little to focused on destroying the human player while avoiding the AI players, but that doesn't really have a

Never tried it. I can barely make it through a game on normal. I screwed up last night on my second game last night, but the one before the wild creatures finished me off in a brutal way.
I must be doing something wrong then, since monsters seem to be the number reason sackers of my cities. It is extremely frustrating watching the AI build a city next a drake or obsidian golem, only to have the mob wake up, by pass the AI cities and buildings, and come smash one of mine.
It does seem the AI can build with impunity and the monsters seem leave them alone. Frogboy said that monsters will not go after outpost

Update, I played tonight, and the rampaging monster I got to deal with on season 208 was an Ashwake Dragon. Needless to say that ended my game pretty quickly. The damn thing actually wondered about 35 squares, just to attack my Capital after it destroyed my second city. That sucked just a bit. I almost beat it at my Capital. It only had 43 hit points left. That is too big of a monster to be wondering around that far, that early in the game. Ho

I think they are too essential. I already want the champions to be nerfed. None of them should have magic, unless they were imbued somehow by the sovereign. The essence of the game was there were very few (sovereigns) that had access to the worlds magic. Now everybody does. I liked the original concept better. Since that doesn't seem like it is going to change, then make the injuries worse so they become less important. I would agree with no

Plus, it is a very big bear. It rampaged through my little huts, and all my people ran away. Of course, thats after it slaughtered my volunteers.
KingHobbit, I have experienced this nonsense too ... and the monsters will travel a long distance to get to you. The AI is obviously still a work in progress. Lord Xia, I totally agree with you that cities and outposts are too easily created and too easily destroyed. I don't know why they don't make cities hard to capture, hard to build. Whatever happened to the idea of siege warfare? Make the attacker work hard to
This feature is a reload 100% of the time. I do not like the current implementation at all ... how does a person get permanent pneumonia? About half of these afflictions should expire after a given number of turns. The other half, say blind in one eye, could be permanent. It's an easy fix and makes the feature more compelling. Maybe include a high level spell, obtained through the tech tree, that is expensive in

I don't know, I killed the Cave Bear's brother with my Sovereign and a Champion about 50 turns before that. Maybe he took it personally. All I know was that I was 1 of 5 things and he picked me. Damn bear.

I like the World Wonders, I just find it surprising how quickly some of them get built. The AI has a whole bunch of troops but is also super far in the tech tree and has built up their cities to get to a World Wonder. I just don't know how they can pace it that quickly.

I think the heroes should be killed and/or some of the options should be much worse injuries. One of the reasons people walk around with the heroes because if they get hurt, it is not that bad. At least one maybe two. I think there should be a couple of them that should just be awful. I also think the Sovereigns should get injuries as well. It would stop just wandering around fighting, because then if you lose there is actually a consequence.
Actually, Brad said in another thread that the monster doesn't go after outposts/resources at all (if they do, it's either accidental or on their path to something else). That's why the monster didn't attack any of Resoln's outposts.
I read that too, personally, I don't think that makes any sense. Especially since the cave bear destroyed one of my outposts on its path past Ceresa's city, and to

I forgot what they were called, something Spawn. That city got walloped though. Wasn't even close. Like I said that didn't really bother me, the city grew to close and I should have went back and tried to take out the den. Not sure why the earth shrills joined but that was just overkill. The cave bear was the thing that irritated me though. What the hell, I wasn't even the closest to where he game from!

I love the idea. You could even have them bring a potion back to him, but make the quest super hard. I still want to sprinkle in some injuries that are even worse. Broken back, champion's carry capacity cut by 3/4. Champion loses his arm, cannot use two handed weapons, or a weapon and a shield+loses X hp. I want the injuries to be just awful. That way you will just not carelessly send them in to a fight to game exp. If they get hurt,

So I started a new game last night. Actually got off to a great start, good starting location, good resources, fairly easy expansion. Things are going great. After I cleared out every visible monster I placed my third settlement. It was starting to advance, my second city was actually pretty isolated and doing well. There was a monster den pretty close by so I built some extra defenders "just in case". Back to my third city. Ceresa decided to place a

I do seem to fall behind at least one AI sovereign in the game. I certainly don't mind failing, and I like the random critters running around. I do find it rather insulting that my level of game play is rated at Janusk though. That Bastard!
