Why does there have to be a choice? A MoM-style game is going to take at least a year or two to develop even with the exisitng engine- in the interim you could release 1 maybe even 2 expansions for FE. If there MUST be a choice, I'd say go for the "Mom-style" game. You are absolutely correct that the Elemental name has been totally tarnished, and it's time to move into a new IP. The things I'd most like to see different between the MoM

Maybe if we did all of the above?
For both custom sovereigns and custom empires, there needs to be many new choices. I like some of the newer ones like the light plate stuff, but there simply aren't enough of them. Maybe there should be one that gives Life Magic to Empire and Death Magic to Kingdoms. Maybe there should be one that makes your people Desert folk and instead replaces the grass terrain with Deserts and you get different stuff. There is a LOT that can be done here to make races more unique and make each play t
So just started a game in Beta 4, and the AI SWARMED me with cities. By the time my first Pioneer finished, they enemy had taken every possible spot around me leaving me stuck in place. Cities should be sparse and uncommon during the early and early-mid game. Here are some ideas to fix this issue: Require a city to be level 2 to build a Pioneer. Pioneers should take much longer to build Cities should not grow while building
Been awhile since i've posted, Anyways, checked out Beta 4, and it's coming along - nearly where I thought it should have been when WoM came out. This is good :) So I'm playing my test game, and I noticed that quests still disappear when you decline them. This should be changed- especially now that tech isn't needed to get them. For example, I walked into an Epic quest during early-game- I had no choice but to decline, so it was gone forever.

Hey all... Been a week or two since I've been on- been really sick (in hos.). I'll still be working on E:EE when I can but for the next month or so at least I am not going to have more than occasional access to the net (I'm home, but the meds I'm on keep me knocked out most of the day). Sorry for the delays all- I had hoped to have some assets available today :(
Who wants to build and manage 50 mini towns?
Not I. 50 is not enough. I want to build hundreds of mini-towns!
It used to be like that and it was terrible. Spend 20 turns researching "Daggers" then "Swords" then "BroadSwords"
It's better than what we have now. Now every side is pretty much identical. There needs to be choices and differences between each side.
I'll have more to add on the others later, but Warfare/Conquest is the largest issue right now imo. It is too easy to climb the ladder. One technology gives you all the basic armors, another all the basic weapons etc. -- These should be broken down into "Basic Swords", "Basic Clubs" etc. - This will also make it so that you choose a few weapon types and can't just build everything every game- This would also distinguish the factions from one another. </

There really should be a more straight-forward system that is user-friendly.
Beta 3B introduces the skeleton of tactical battles. Here's the basic concept on how they're supposed to work: Your Combat Speed is translated into action points. We do NOT use your Moves per turn stat (that's supposed to represent endurance and it's not subject to change). The current system is, however, far too basic of course. In this thread, we will discuss which aspects of MOM, HOMM, AOW, as well as new concepts you guys
Just something cool I thought you guys might like to see.... This is the first (very early) version of the title screen logo in-game.
Sorry again for the lack of a proper bug report... Steps to reproduce: 1.) Start a new game 2.) Select any pre-defined soverign 3.) Observe the characters stats (spells, traits etc.) Results: The characters race is not listed (in some cases you can tell by reading the biography text) Expected: The characters race should be listed.
Speaking of Diplomacy - Can we still trade technologies? What about complex alliances (3 or 4 players forming some kind of group alliance etc.)? Outside of trading stuff what else can you do? Also how is the dynasty system coming along? Been waiting to see the finalized version.
A lot of suggestions are good. Hexes are a lot better then squares for a number of reasons, particularly diagonal movement with squares being wonky. The only problem with the suggestion is that it needed to be made 8 months ago.
More like 18 months ago (at the least).... That's the kind of decision that needs to be decided VERY early in the development cycle.
As one of the few people here who is both a coder, and have worked professionally in game development (although not as a coder) I can say that the game should become an entirely different animal between the feature-lock and release as the game gets balanced and tweaked. FrogBoy has given the absolute minimum amount of time to balance before Gold (I think he said we should expect a Day-1 patch so they can keep working while it ships). Since most of their time after this will be on balance, I e
Not really all that many combinations yet (theres what 20? and very few points to spend), and none of them make all that much of a difference at this stage yet (They will hopefully make a lot more of a difference once the game is properly balanced). There are a few that are more interesting than the others. Evil is a good one (prevents your kids from joining the enemy), as is Egalitarian (can make a lot more troops with a smaller population). There are 2-3 others with decent effects (such as
See http://us.battle.net/realid/ - There is an FAQ in there somewhere too. Essentially it's blizzard trying like crazy to become the new EA.
Well as of the current beta there is not a lot in yet, and not that much time left until release so only StarDock could tell you for sure. Hopefully they have a few hundred models they haven't put in yet, but it's looking like we are going to have to wait for the modders to make the kind of variety you are looking for (there are maybe 50 (tops) creature models that I have seen whereas something expansive like UO would typically have hundreds or even thousands). That being said, what
Which Oz are you talking about? The HBO Prison series? The Wizard of Oz? Australia? EDIT: That was a joke by the way.... Sarcasm + forums = bad
I agree - they should be able to expand if at a slower pace than the normal AI.
Hey all - Just a heads up that I just migrated our site to a new server, and did a major upgrade to the site. Still a lot to do, but the forums are now up and running again (they went down last night). With 1 execption (who I PMed) your old logins should still function and should provide you access to the entire site. Untill the DNS resolves you can access it via IP Here Wh
