Most cities are made of people moving and doing different things. If there were real-time animations for shopworkers, smiths, Bard or 2 singing songs, birds flying nearby, etc. Also, the animations should not remain static. They should move around, go into buildings, go to their housing at night for sleep, sweep the stable, etc. They could call out to each other once in a while, "Greetings, stranger.", "I am Mystic X; have you seen my pet S

I'm in agreement with most of the views expressed in this article and the resulting responces. Stanley can you please explain your views on DRM? I don't agree with your viewpoint in a big way. If you have something worthwhile to say about the subject I'm more than willing to listen. Otherwise, your view sounds misguided or maybe ignorant. Have you been pc gaming long? Don't want to offend you but I really don't understand your viewpoint on t

I'll add a few comic book superhero movies into the mix. Iron Man -with Robert Downey Jr., doesn't follow original comic but still fun to watch. Could be considered an action movie. The Hulk -with Edward Norton. Didn't like the Hulk as comic or TV show, etc., but this movie was done well. I give it praise because it made a fun, entertaining production out of a comic character I didn't really care about.

To start, want to say that I have been pc gaming since 1983/84. The first games I played was on a friends pc and I don't have the foggiest as to what make or model. Tape drive though..think cassette tapes. Another friend had a pc with orange text and floppy disc. I didn't actually own my own pc until 92 or 93. It was given to me by the first tech co I worked for. It was a 286x from Compaq. First type of pc games I played were tex

Was thinking how to improve Diplomacy in game. I've been playing a little Civ4; you recall how the different civs would ask you to trade or fight a war with them..My take is there wasn't enough dialogue options. You need at least 1 more screen of dialogue to help set up planned warfare. So the AI civ/faction asks you to attack player A. What if one of your options was "I will join in your conquest but lets plan the conquest first. We will attack on turn 4

Kinda like 1, 3, 4, and 5. On subject of Dragons, I would prefer they remain somewhat rare and are used mostly in the quest part of the game. Maybe a particularly ancient old wyrme would be a 'Oracle' type figure, that lords, ladies and heroes consult with. The Dragonriders of Perne 'dragons' are not that interesting(IMO). I enjoyed the books, however, for me Dragons need to be more like the Smaug type. They talk, they evaluate, they have huge amounts of p

Kinda aiming for alternate history, and yea using semi-realism. Kinda a mix of "american" history, movie and dime novel mythology. Maybe some scenarios would have what your asking about MichaelCook but I definitely would not be using magic like Tasunke is suggesting. Shamans will be more like a political figures, with morale, loyalty and combat modifiers for their tribe. I would like to place "my" scenario in 1800-1900 but it could start anywhere fr

I am dreaming of "The Old West" or "Boothill" type mod. "You are a part of a sweeping history of westward expansion that rapidly changes the face of North America. Natives, settlers, and immigrants from all over the world are vying for their place in history or at least for a little plot of land. Yes, yes we know what happened..(up till now)but, what if, native americans fought off European colonialism? Or if Mexico

Like your post Istari. Superstition, Astrology, Magic can help disguise the unknown event; your Druids/High Priests are valued and relied upon by the citizens to help appease the gods and interpret the signs and portents. Your idea would add depth to the game I think. From what I read your not asking for randomness for sake of it, but events that happen because of a predefined order.

I like both games and creators. Civilization has been fantastic. I have Civilization Chronicles and recommend it highly. Yea, the battles in Civ4 are frustrating when a iron age unit defeats a modern unit. I still enjoy the game though. Fantasy gaming is high on my list also. I am hoping Elemental kinda becomes the next 'Unreal Engine' of modding and customization.

Thanks for that post KellenDunk. I knew there was a problem somewhere in our gaming community. Talk about companies shooting their foot and mouth off. Sad since they own the rights to many great games of the past. I used to love Blizzard games. If these articles are accurate. This is bad for gaming in general(IMO). Gonna check out was has gone on with that Bobby guy since that article was written.

" Do you think that professional video games would dissapear from the world of PC?" Answer : No. When all the businesses in the world starts using Playstation 6 or Xbox 13 then I'll be concerned. Until then, if your using a console its because you lack the required skills, time, money, or interest in video gaming on a pc. I don't see pc's leaving our culture anytime soon. Also, what are some of the very

If you had asked me 2 years after Diablo 2, I would have been all over it. However, my gaming tastes have been getting more jaded as time goes on. I kinda feel almost like its not going to be fun now. The memories of Diablo and Diablo 2 are great. Same with Warcraft and Starcraft. I even enjoyed WoW for a short time. Today though is a different day. Blizzards success might be it own problem. Seems like Starcraft 2 is being released in 3 s

I like being immersed in the environment and lore. I would like to let Blizzard retain the title for silly humour in fantasy games. I would like the comments dark, acerbic, morbid, fearful. At least in some places for Elemental. With hereditary rule, the Dynastic system and Factions this game can rise to great heights. Seems like Romeo and Juliet, MacBeth, Richard the III are just scripts/mods distance away.

Frogboy, I hope you include both as options. Seems like an excellent tool for rpg'ers to use for custom map making. Remember those old Avalon Hill war games like Squad Leader, Kingmaker, etc. Fondness for hexes there. Also, old wargaming where your using a ruler to move little groups of miniatures where 1" equals some distance. Games like Ancients, etc. So there are many other gamer types out there that you could potentially help with a real dy

I'm currently enjoying other posters comments and observations as well as others suggestions in how to improve the game. Thank you for the update on current progress Frogboy. Juvantei, if you've preordered then Stardock will let you into the next phase of Beta and as Frogboy and Myles say maybe even a little earlier. Also having more beta testers is not necessarily a good thing. Having Beta testers who are thorough, diligent, keep a journal and sc

I think we need to have multiple options for road building. If this game is gonna be replayable: add infintum, then we should have a checkbox or multi choice at start of a game. It should help modders as well. a) Organic roads-roads built by units that don't need to be controlled. they have trading caravan's, guards, inns along way, meet fellow travels or pilgrims on road, occassional bandits, borderland keep, towers b) Roads that req

I would like you to change the nomenclature on the units. Currently in the military if you have 10 soldiers you are a squad. If you have 4 or more squads in a group then you have a platoon. If you have 3-8 platoons you have a company. If you have 5 companies then you have 1 battalion. 1 Brigade typically has 5 battalions in it. A division is made up of roughly 10,000 troops or 2-3 Brigades. Those numbers have some fluxtuation and fle

I echo ChongLi. I would prefer Elemental had a few more counter type spells than MoM but not have counter type spells for everything. It should have its own Book of Magic maybe? I think that (IF) spells that are created by user in game should not have counter-spells. Can we create our own spells ingame? Haven't seen that yet..
