For MMO's I would take DDO combat mechanics EVE online for depth of play Guildwars

Ikros suggestion has merit I think, and, in a fantasy setting I could imagine women being magically stronger than men so even if men still have the physical advantage(thats also no guarantee in a magical universe). Also in MoM several of the main avatars were female. As for avatars in modern history you could pick Queen Elizabeth ala Shakespeare's time, Joan of Arc or the acting German Chancellor..But this looks like a chance for some really excellent mods to come from this game s
I kinda like the idea of having some sort of succession in a tbs game. Roger Zelazny had a series of books that modeled a family who controlled a kingdom through succession and magical powers. The family had both powerful males and females. Their were alliances with different family members opposing each other for the "throne". The alliances sometimes fell apart or someone would commit some treacherous change of sides. Also, the board strategy game War of the Ros
Thank you for the update BoogieBac. By the way most fantasy books including George R. R. Martins have "fantastical" creatures in them. The Corum series was just 1 in a group of books that were Michael Moorcock's "Eternal Champion" series and guess what? They too had fantasy creatures. And since were talking fantasy books I better not forget to mention J. R. R. Tolkiens books(probably the best fantasy literature ever written with the possible exceptions being the Illiad
I like the idea of multiplayer for this game both local lan and internet play. I also think it will extend the life of the game and its mods. It will probably require lots of time to play to end game so I would also like some sort of save game for the groups to then continue play(ie you and your friends set time schedule for play of ever Saturday night from 9pm-12pm). Pick up gameplay as needed.
Pretty sure as long as game companies and other software manufacturers require disk in drive to play/run there will always be pirates. Regardless, I can't think of one game company that has lost its fortune because of pirates. What has happened over time is that game companies used to deliver full game demo's. Then demo's were pulled out and had to start paying money up front for something that you hoped was good and then many times failed. Pc user's in general felt swindled
Well I was going along with the op's view and assuming(and I was assuming epic as in Illiad by Homer epic. Meaning "epic " in a good way. As far as art, resources, etc I am sure Stardock will decide what they can and can't afford. I have also been spending a little time reading here and I saw that Stardock for the moment would not be including Elves and some other fantasy races which I just assume should be standard in most fantasy gaming. However the game turns out, w
Awesome thank you for that tour Lord Frogboy. Definitely like seeing development in progress. This is like fan direct access and input for each game if you can. Not sure if any other game company is doing this but I like the open forum invironment for content creation. It looks like you've already received several positive feedback points in the forums. Most of the development staff seem active and supportive. Can't wait for the next development blog!<
Just thanking you guys for the initial warm welcome[e digicons][/e] and when multiplayer is added I will be joining you in Beta to help play..? Oh bugs..
Oops, err, and I like complex; not generic for this particular title. Rather it didn't launch as soon as I wish(yesterdayX10)but fully great in form and play.(even almost bug free, well )
I agree with Tim4fun. I would also like an epic game(modeled after MoM mostly). I would go one step further than MoM tho' and have at least a few more races to begin with than MoM had.(If your trying to outdo MoM) Also it would help give all us players who aren't modders endless replayability race options. That was one of the highlight of MoM and allowed for its continued play even now all these years later. Having only a handful or less races in The Ultimate Fan
If Elemental comes out in 2010 that will be my only hot for title to come out. I will be preordering a game for the first time in my life(typically no reason to preorder something that can become vaporware at the flip of a switch-or market minded CEO's or CFO's most games ship with bugs that require patching anyways). In my mind, only Elemental and Stardock deserve some influx of early cash in order that they take their time in creating the greatest(hopefully)fantasy strategy
The first pc game or games I played were Telengard(Top down maze game with monster to kill and treasure to collect-just one in a long line of DnD inspired pc games), Battle of Midway where you are in controll of American fleet of ships and carrier launched planes(Think it was text based graphics 2 colors blue and white), Adventure, and Might and Magic. If you talk arcade games then probably Asteroids or Space Invaders. I've never owned a console, however a couple years ago I t
I would recommend Subspace(now called Continuum)as a fun game that is fun and exciting(once controls are figured out). The game give you several ships to fly ala Asteroids except far superior. Each ship has its own vulnerabilities and strengths. Typically games have multi teams. Each team tries to capture "flags" and desposit them in a Labrynth to then guard against other teams. Look it up and give it a shot..The game is old, the game play is not.
Thank you Scoutdog for the welcome[e digicons]|-)[/e] . Unfortunately I don't possess those skills. Wish you and MagwillNZ well on your Dark Republic Mod. I agree with Aeon221's request for multi maps. Maybe ala 3d chess games where you see all levels at once and can move from one to the other. I think it would be nice to see the different planes of existence(created for that particular game)in a small panel overlay. Then you could grab whichever plane you wish to look at and move units, etc. I would also like the inclusion(I'm greedy)of at least 5 planes to work with. MoM only gives you default earth and Myrror.&n
