Yeah I've had a few of these too, the worst one is I spawn on an ISLAND with a pretty bare bones resource start and then find I can't even build a second city because literally 10 tiles north is Yithril (who had somehow gotten the sword of wrath 15 turns in [e digicons]o_O[/e] ) Although I think it almost runs a series of patterns when it spawns factions. This has been solved (for most people) previously. Once the alert "Can not download data file" shows up, Shift+Tab to bring up the Impulse overlay and it will give you the option to re-login. Elemental tries to login with old information unless you do this and as a result cannot communicate with Impulse.

What I've noticed with this is that once I get a lvl 2 quest (often one of the potion ones) I can no longer visit other questgiving huts. Moving on to lvl 3 quests works fine, it just doesn't allow other lvl 2 ones.

So just a minor gripe but why do we not have any basic text-editing features when creating a sovereign? It isn't even possible to erase the "default" backstory by highlighting then deleting it, you have to backspace through the whole thing which is a pain.

So I just lost a game pretty badly. Playing as a custom faction I had a great starting location, Crystal mine, Air shard, and 2 fertile lands. Nearby were two perfect locations for future cities. Get three cities up and running, and then discover I'm on a peninsula [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] and the only path out is through Magnar territory (who is way ahead of me in faction strength because he's on the mainland and has more cities). Yea I'd say it'll probably come in an expansion. Naval warfare would be possibly hard to implement though. Boarding actions would be simple, just a standard tactical fight on a smaller map. Maybe some spells/abilities that can only be used during boarding actions (archer/spell support from troops that didn't board the enemy boat). But ship vs. ship combat would be difficult. If Elemental is not already on your computer you have to install 1.09e not 1.09n. Check to see if you have Pre-release versions showing up (should be under preferences in Impulse). If you have pre-releases shown it will try and install 1.09n which fails miserably as it is an update not the whole game (hence the file size issue). Turning pre-releases off will hide 1.09n, then you can download 1.09e which should work.

Just got mine working. For anyone who is unable to download the game due to a change in password or username, Shift+Tab once the game has brought up the "Cannot download data file" message. It should bring up the Impulse overlay and have an option to "Re-Login". Apparently Elemental still tries to login with your old information unless you tell it to do otherwise. Simply change the password/username in the re-login screen to whatever it is currently, and voila!

I'm a little bit pissed off at the beta right now. Reinstalled the whole game (1.09e did work fine upon reinstall) after a 12 hour slow as all hell download. STILL CANNOT DOWNLOAD THE DATA FILE. No proxy to go through, Firewall is explicitly told to let this program (and Impulse for that matter) through. I have an internet connection (obviously), and I'm signed in to Impulse. So all things considered I'm done with the beta, there is no reason I should be unab
