Well, as I posted in another thread ... Theif -> Assassin(accuracy) and Acrobat(dodge) Soldier -> Guardsman(defense) and Warrior(attack) Mage -> Wizard(intelligence/magical power) and Warlock/Druid(wisdom/magical defense) You can only be either a thief, soldier, or mage (for combat oriented classes) but you can take a level in any derivative path for each level. IE: 4 levels in Assassin and 3 levels in Acrobat = +4
I agree that, like Stratego, only Orthogonal attacks for melee might be more interesting :)
We could have Leader/Fighter/Mage ... or Administrator/Theif/Fighter/Mage With Thief focusing on Accuracy and Dodge Fighter focusing on Attack and Defense Mage focusing on Spell Power and Magical Defense (and then each of these 4 basic paths can split into other paths) -> and that you cannot pick a second 'basic path' once you have your basic path. Any of the 4 paths, the three martial paths and th
I would give you karma but ... I didn't get any for my post on #4000 :(
I for one definitely like the current "DnD HP system" where HP increases per level (even if constitution does not increase). as far as stat increases go ... perhaps 3 basic combat paths Theif, Soldier, and Mage Theif can split into Assassin (accuracy) or Acrobat (dodge) Soldier can split into Guardsman (Defense) or Warrior/Fighter(Attack) Mage can split into Wizard/Sorcerer (Magical Power) ... a
How do high taxes subsidize rebellion, organized crime, and possibly even treason? And if this is the case (that taxes subsidize rebellion), then how would high taxes not lead to 'rebel citizens'? Yes, Derek's experience with FFH, and perhaps more importantly his experience with being a DM, certainly helped from the imagination department. I believe Derek has shown through FFH his game design philosophy of assymetical balance, and I think that has great potential in FE (in the abstract). How
Hmm. Lore Master I - +2 research Lore Master II - +10% research Lore Master III + 15% research -> Unlocks the techs for Library of Awesome and Arcane Library of awesome. I personally do not think the AI would ever reach a point of infinite loop draws. I mean, it might be nice I guess ... for an AI to be that good, but either way ... what we need is just a Draw timer. aka-> like in SC2 where there has been no damage or resource acquisitions for some time, the timer starts to draw down and then its a draw (both lose and retreat) I feel similar in this way. Say, after 5-8 turns of nothing happen
Well that's the thing. Cities would not start off with wealthy 'nobles'. And the cherokee example was just to show that a large portion of the Native Americans had economically assimilated into co-Americans with the Colonials until the Colonials decided that they wanted all the land under one economy. A kingdom nation would start with all citizens (and worthless drudges if the taxes got too high), and then you could add buildings which added "nobles" which gave at least do
Hmm. Well, I got a little side-tracked. As far as Rebels vs Drudges, we were trying to use strictly medieval contexts. The Nazis were able to rise to power due to the desperation brought about by economically hard times.

I see. So farmers were removed then? (was it too unbalanced?) I think I remember reading a thread started just a few months ago talking about hiring farmers in the city to help pay for Soldiers ... I guess the Army doesn't run on food anymore? (like it was in an earlier dev journal)
Hehe ... while it is probably a poster/tester to try and gain a lobby audience like Sean says, I think its possible that its a source that "may or may not be credible" therefore it will appease those looking for better Tactical maps, while also not being 'word of god' therefore no roar of disappointment if they end up not being able to follow through ;) Definitely from the devs, or their assistants ;)

Does this mean that you disagree with the idea of dissident nobles, and the idea of a "wealthy citizen type" in the Kingdom (noble) that may lead to rebellion if not appeased by certain means? (A wealthy but dysfunctional city will split off from the rest (in an attempt to maintain wealth and decrease dysfunction) ... ie Milan, Florence, and other Italian city states) -> albeit the circumstances of Italian city states was a bit different, during the post-Roman era, but nontheless a
how about after X turns of inaction, a draw is concluded and the battle ends? (inaction being no damage taken)

I see. I read a post somewhere that "Population" can be either Farmers or Citizens, with high taxes causing "Rebels/Drudges" which produce neither taxes nor production. Has that idea been Scrapped? Or simply not implemented yet ...
