After playing a bit of .86, I can already tell getting the right amount of XP is making a huge difference. It's not nearly so desperate as before, when you were in mortal battles for 1 and 2 xp at level 1-2. I feel much better now.
Glad to hear it! :) I may not fully believe it until I see it for myself, but I like what I am hearing. ;)

Zzzz's are certainly too subtle. You basically have to spend a few seconds checking whether it has a Zzzz this turn or not. Also, If you have 20+ cities, I'm not sure that you can scroll down to see all possible Cities for all possible Zzzzs
I too am curious. I won't download until I finish this game just in case.
my thoughts exactly. As is with school, etc ... I've still only played 40 turns or so >.>
I got mixed results from 0.85, to be honest. My poisoned spears would do anything from 0 to 3 poison damage it seems.
nice screen shots. Those tactical battle maps looked pretty awesome. I agree that booting city DEFENDERS before the battle starts is pure bollox. The AI barely knows how to keep units in a city as it is, so please no penalizing them when they finally do something smart.
Yay for double numbers, all hail the mathematical gods ... all to present you with the great, the glorious ... #77. Oh, did I forget to give you Karma?
All good things :) (I'll miss my poison sack spearmen units ... but ah well ;))
The example you quoted was of me fighting mosters one at time ... but the better group exp in 0.86 should help at least a little bit (possibly a lot). I hear 0.86 is available :)
That reminds me ... there are a good deal of minor UI bugs in the Sovereign and Faction customization screens.
I think that the UI needs to be better for selecting armies/ army groups, especially from inside a city ... but I disagree with the other suggestion. I think upgrading from parties to groups to companies is pretty awesome, and having it stuck at one value for the entire game seems a little boring.
The problem is that digital media is post-scarcity. therefore things get complicated ... and you have this big gray area of everything, not just copyright issues.
The AI tends to send their Sovereign in by himself for some reason ... Gilden did that to me (but I think it was on normal). As for AI starting really close ... is this intentional? To allow a rush for rush players? Or is it something that should have a natural block in the map-gen code. Likely, this is as good as its going to get (as Civ had similar problems even in IV, I think its just a map gen problem in general) That being said, in my
honestly, had they done nothing else, the Intiative system would have been fixed if removing Impulsive. As is, Impulsive is the only way to get good initiative, so for now I think it should stay ;:)
And I'd prefer having at least 1 10% gold improvement at the tier 1 Civ techs (or maybe tier 2 ... as is, at tier 2 all you have is a 10% gold via tech and thats all) most gold producing buildings seem to be "City upgrades" now ... I'd like at least one that you can build normally.
A 20% increase won't make your income go from 13 to 21. Instead your Income went from 40 to 48, and your expenses remained at 27. Therefore it was your Profit that increased from 13 to 21 ;) and what a nice increase! 61% jump in profits!
it should always be a choice. Strategic and Tactical versions should cost the same period, imho. Just depends on if A) you want a levelled summon, and B ) how many fights you get into how often
Its better than 0.77. Armies now matter, and that makes battles (and warfare) cooler. Champion leveling is a lot slower, and splitting the exp only makes it exponentially slower to get a good Champion going I think. Maybe Champs below level 5 shouldn't count towards the number of Champions? I think battles in general are generating a lot less XP than they used to. Sure I'll run into a huge monster that gives 100+ exp .. but in 0.77 that would have granted me 200 exp ea
Anyways ... Mites should just give more EXP from the get go. (I feel like there isn't enough exp flowing in the world ... even when I kill an AI sovereign its only a measly 5 exp most of the time.)-> early game
alright. then have the techs be 200 without tech, 400 with first tech, 800 with second tech, and infinite at third tech (soft cap) But honestly ... NO CAP AT ALL ;)
I'd say Champions within levels 1-5 should be exempt. (6-10 though is too high, 1-5 only I think)
So the 'que' deforestation is fixed?
Yea ... tactical summons are boss because you can exeed maximum number of units :) While Strategic summons cost mana to upkeep. Ultimately, if you have to use a summon in EVERY battle, its better to summon it strategically and bring it with you. If you only need summons in a pinch however (and have spare mana), best to wait until tactical to summon them. (I like the difference)
I guess if you wanted to make real use out of natural born leader.
step 1) declare war step 2) sue for peace (with them paying you gold) yes, its not exactly the best option, as you can get diplo penalties for the declaration.... but still ...
