The feeling I get from Elemental is that it simply doesn't know what it wants to be.
This is true, but the reason for it is that the game was released about one year too early. It just wasn't finished and it is still not finished ( sorry Frog ). Edit: And the AI has changed a lot since release. Claiming otherwise makes me think you haven't played the game much at all...

I kind of like most of the techs as they are, civ war and magic seems to all have a purpose. Adventure is a bit uninteresting though because of the lack of interesting quests. Diplomacy however is a bit silly. I have to research the ability to trade and make caravans? I have to research treaties? There's no reason that stuff can't be available from the start. It's like having to research how to eat and sleep...
Right at the top of my list is adding support to use much larger tactical battle maps. Ideally I would like something close to what we see in Age of Wonders. Obviously this should include different heights, destructable walls, army information gathered from more than 2 tiles and so on. Edit: Bonus objective would be to actually read surrounding tiles for information and format a map accordingly (ie - forest west = forest west). <
1.2 would have been the most boring expansion name ever. [e digicons]:|[/e]
out of curiosity, is this so you can play left handed ? What would the purpose of this change be ?
Nah, there's just a bunch of us who have our brains turned backwards.
About war: The AI is very aggressive but can't properly evaluate the strength of the opponent I think. I played a bunch of turns last night as Gilden (difficulty:hard) and two empires kept coming at my town with underpowered forces. All of them single units, of course. I'm not sure if they don't understand that units guarding a city are more powerful than in the open field... If they would have kept coming at a higher pace I might have been killed but they let me and my units heal between the
Really weird bug this. I was going for a piece of fertile land to found a city there. I spot Karavox near it, his card saying he's heading for Aredriewe (his capital). A bit odd since he is directed towards the fertile land. Anyway, I found a new city and go to a hut nearby. When I start heading back, I notice that my newly founded city is called Aredriewe and is owned by Krax (no units nearby so it wasn't captured)! When I enter the city my own city name comes back and... Karavox capital is
Win7. [e digicons][/e] Sorry but unless someone gives me a copy for free, no way. I have no need for shiny windows and 1000 annoying popups. What we need is to be able to properly play games on Linux!
Yes this worked well in AoW2. Each turn a bunch of message headers popped up in a list and you could choose to ignore them or click on them if you wanted to take action. There was also a flashing button showing that you have unread messages.
Dunno, one turn is a very short period. Perhaps in combination with a longer period. For example you could have a "decade of winds" in which the next 10 winter turns makes the air sphere more powerful, and then "decade of rains" etc.
Well Frog, of course 1.1 is better than 1.09. But 1.1 has been pitched as THE patch that will make Elemental complete and to be honest you are not there yet. However, with 1.1 now in lockdown, I say release it asap so that you/we can begin working on 1.2.
One tiny complaint: the Death legions color is too black. Diplomacy menus and their houses look weird.
This mod makes vanilla Elemental really boring... Playing as Death legion right now and it's great fun to design units when you also have to match the right head with the rest of the stuff! I love this guy:
There are a few things to keep in mind: 2) When you send us an email, it resets the "Last Activity" on the ticket, which is what our system uses to order the tickets. This means every time you send us an email, your ticket gets moved to the end of the queue. To prevent delays, try to avoid multiple emails.
That's not a brilliant system is it..? And hardly something you can expect the cu
I actually like the 99 turns thing. It makes you think real hard about entering those non-aggression pacts (i.e. do I want this guy around for another 99 turns on my border? Can I wait 100 turns before killing him?).
I agree with this. A shorter period would open up for AI exploiting. Now it is an interesting decision you have to make, 30 turns would always be a given "yes". But in addition, perhaps we can
Answer to your third point - I think Sovereigns have always got some XP from all winning battles from your side (or at least hero battles). Best regards, Steven.
Ok, makes sense. Haven't noticed it before.
More notes: * Bug: Just discovered an invisible gold mine. An exclamation mark appeared over a piece of empty land after unlocking Harvesting. When I clicked the tile the gold mine appeared. * Weird stuff: Why do I have to pay extra for trade- and tech treaties that are more beneficial for my opponent? Shouldn't it be the other way? * The Sovereign now gets experience from battles that he/she's not participating in. Is this a new feature?
I didn't want to hijack someone elses thread with my 1.09p notes, so here's a thread for everyone. List your bugs, thoughts and ideas. I have played about 2 hours so far. No crashes, and the game is generally much more fun now! Here are some thoughts, not all 1.09p related: * I was lucky to get 10 materials in goodie huts at the start, plus I choose the trait that gave me two units at start. This made the early game much easier. * TC: Still, hit points are removed before

I want to see all available spells on one page. A nice workaround would be to show a long scroll with details of all the spells. Then you can scroll up and down to read more, rather than turn pages.
Quoting Magog_AoW, reply 10I think you forgot the sovereigns. And there are absolute paths (C:\Users\Heavenfall\Documents\My Games\Elemental\units\icons\Awrikatr_0_1423337085-810.png) in the baseunits.xml. The factions wont show up for me, but that's probably my fault and I "just" need to reinstall. If neither the sovereigns nor the factions show up for you, I think you aren't loading the mods at all. The abs
