I still would prefer Galciv2-style random events and mega events instead of quests...
I'd like all three. Random events really spice things up. They worked really well in cIV and Fall from Heaven/Master of Mana, etc. Anyway, these quests are really, really good. I'd like to see them all get added somehow if possible. There certainly are some really talen

I like the fact that these forums aren't totally populated by fanbois who shout down critics of the game. As mentioned, too many yes men is a dangerous thing. That being said, people should aim to be civil and constructive in their criticisms on both sides.

Now. Please? Who must I kill? Which country must I conquer? Knowing about it has been the best news I have had in the last weeks! (weeks in which the best thing has been to learn some Python 3.1.3 during breaks in the office so go figure) The Mod Layer sounds very interes
Quoting RisingLegend, reply 14So basically what you're saying Derek is that there is a limited amount of features that can go into a game? How do you feel about games like Dwarf Fortress that just have so many features and make such a living world out of their design. I mean with anything I've ever played, it seems that complexity makes the game more real and immersive. Now granted, I understand how too much complexity and not good imple

I've never been happy with the way forests were treated in the Civ series. For example, in Civ I, not cutting down your forests led to much more pollution as forests were a good means of ramping up your production. :P In later versions cutting down all your forests was considered a good idea. I am hoping that forests will play an important role in Elemental somehow. At least much more so then they are now. Being described as a nuisance rig

So you think you can out sarcasm me eh? Well of course you can, because it is just so easy, anyone can do it! As for the game quote that impressed me "Those who are willing to give up a little freedom for a little security, wind up with neither freedom, nor security"

Thanks for the update and for giving more information on game design. This is a very nice thing that Stardock is doing to make the gaming community as a whole better. By helping out aspiring game designers and just generally educating people on what happens in a game design process, we all benefit. Keep up the good work and of course don't fly to close to the sun. It tends to melt the wax. :P
Agreed. I admire the fact that they went off on a different path by making their own factions and monsters but since there is no place to read up on these new creatures in a monster manual type style or get any background on them at all is a bit underwhelming for me. Just to point out the obvious here. Brad wrote an entire novel of back story. While this is not the same as a monster manual, it should give a fairly decent amount of story

It had such beautiful maps, city sieges were a different type of battle all together, and the magic spells are sweeping, the differnt races, neutral cities, recruiting camps, game changing things that made the world more than a pretty map. Glad to hear about rivers. They will definitely make the map look more natural interesting. Some scattered roads at the beginning that have been largely destroyed would be welcome as well. Also making terrain matter more and city placement would make the game more fun for me. Thanks for the update. :)

Thanks for all the info. Since I have crappy internet at the moment, the download is going agonizingly slow. :P It looks extremely promising though as I loved FFH2 and this seems to build on it.
Quoting Thormodr, reply 4 Oh and I definitely agree about Treants. I've always loved the green nature faction in any games I've played. I'd love to see a nature faction with Druids, Dryads, Treants, Unicorns etc. Lots of cool summons like Dire Boars, Faerie Dragons etc. like in AOW II:SM. Unfortunately the powers-that-be decided to ignore/avoid/eschew/whatever the common fantasy that we all know and share a

This is the only thing holding the game back for me at the moment. If you look at every other turn based game there is always something that is keeping you from actually beating the computer even when you are capable of winning at the time. And its always things like researching enough to get that Mega unit who takes a lot of dmg to take down and can do some cool moves. Like in AOW i almost never win a scenario until i have maxed just about everything in atl
Master of Magic is still the best turn based fantasy game ever. Behind it comes Warlords III & IV which is a fast paced great fantasy wargame. HOMM II & III are the best of that series. Age of Wonders first game is the best of that series. Dominions III is merely ok, the ai is pretty lame and the combat is rather lacking in that mostly all you get to do is WATCH the outcome. Setting up before battle isn't that much fun. But, there is

Just make EFE much more like Age of Wonders and Master of Magic and I'll be one ecstatic camper. If that big a radical departure is required in order to make EFE like that then I have no qualms about it being a standalone expansion, Make it so. [e digicons][/e]

From the announcement about Fallen Enchantress: Elemental: Fallen Enchantress is expected to be released in the Summer of 2011. It will be free to those who purchased Elemental: War of Magic in 2010 and be available at a significant discount for those who purchase War of Magic. Unfortunately the deal for free expansions has expired. However, you can get the first expansion at a big discount if you buy Elemental: War of Magic now. Sounds

This is one thing I hope they have in EFE. I want to be able to find or hire Druids, Elementalist Wizards, etc. Not too powerful of course but something to strike the fear of Gawd into people that say Constitution is a useless stat for their sovereign. Low hit points plus a few fireballs = danger Will Robinson. :P Hopefully anyway. [e digicons]^_^[/e]
