Though I only played the beta and the demo, it struck me as lacking in (for want of a better term) charm . The whole aesthetic was so clinical and lacking in drama, it was such a step down from the other heroes that treated everything with fanfare. WoM had this problem.

Never liked the HoMM approach of just rehiring them that kind of took some of the shine off a planned-out victory. HoMM IV had it better with heroes being imprisoned in the nearest town that you had to capture to release them. Perhaps having the same thing but then adding a Mount & blade/Pirates! style chance to escape every turn might balance it a bit. Having buildings like a prison tower could reduce the chance of escape. There should always be a chance the champion just gets killed, th

The US relied too heavily on compulsive liar Rafid Ahmed Alwan al-Janabi because they wanted to believe it was true. I guess when you're in charge of the most powerful country on earth having daddy issues is not condusive to wise leadership.

I mean, when we refer to trailer trash, it's not a bash on socio-economic status at all. It's the trailers we're bashing. I mean if we didn't have trailers, we wouldn't have trailer trash. And besides, when there are tornadoes, trailers

Or do you mean that your country has restrictions on imports that you have to pay for a physical copy? Hardly Stardock's fault.
The latter. I don't recall saying it was Stardock's fault, but the fact WoM was about as fun as a spreadsheet and not worth the amount I paid for it most certainly was.

Having imported the game and paid a rather unwelcome import fee any feelings of guilt over getting it free has evaporated somewhat. Getting a game for free is almost unheard of though, so kudos to Stardock for trying to renew faith in their products.

We intend to have a almost completely new sound track. This isn’t a promise. We’ve gotten a lot of new music and effects in and have put them in but we wouldn’t delay the game over making sure all the music and sound is new. Ah well that's something. I'd be interested in hearing what improvements were made because (as my recent thread highlighted) the SFX in WoM was pretty piss-poor. Hopefully we'll have something better th

Games like WoM tend to appeal primarily to those that are PC enthusiasts who tend to keep their rigs up-to-date as much as finances allow. Five years is a long time and if you are still chugging away with a graphics card powered by a hamster in a wheel then maybe saving up is a good idea. Surely even a moderate upgrade from a 5 to a 3 year old card from e-bay wouldn't break the bank. If Pixel shader 3 halves memory usage then bring it on. It might reduce sales but at leaast t

I know that Stardock have gone some way to remedying this, and I will wait for the Beta before I make any further judgement.
There is a lot of truth in that. Age of Wonders (and follow-ups) were entertaining for a bit, but it doesn't have (for me at least) the lasting and legendary appeal of MoM due to lack of exhaustive options. More units, more magic, more interaction, more special abilities, more everything. Compare Civilization 4 (and the associated Fall from Heaven 2) - there's LOTS of complex interactions and stuff to know about; and the
