I'm not trying to be flip but saying that different resources are all the same or all techs are the same really just tells me that this game isn't for you. I'm sorry.
They are not all the same but I do not think they are coming across the way you intend them right now. I am really enjoying the beta already and expect to enjoy the game even more so. I know some resources give more food, but at the moment with how many are present vs how much I actually need a

So I decided to walk away for a little while and let some things run their course and come back and see what changed. There are still several areas that could use some improvement. Available Units: For a game with magic at its core there is a severe lack of different units. Everything I can recruit is basically a human with some pointy thing and a maybe some armor. It can make things a little more interesting with the creatures I can summon but there i
Whenever I try to open either the tile or map editor the game freezes with a black screen
Ok so I think that everyone agrees that the quest system needs some love. The quests are way to easy, in general kind of boring and all fall along the same lines. Here are some thoughts on new types of quests, ways to make them more interesting and how to fix the tech tree a bit. New Quests: Spawns Monster X: Hey there is now some big ass monster wandering the world that may be more powerful than you anticipated and is capable of destroying some cities,
I agree that pacing is off - but in regards to the army / combat: One possible reason you're able to relax and just research the entire civ tree is because the AI right now poses no threat what-so-ever. If you had an army of 100 pissed peasants upon your doorstep being led by an enemy sovereign, you might feel differently about needing to build up an army earlier into the game. One of the things I feel is way out of proportion in elemental is the pacing. I hope some people will agree with me and post here so they look into changing it a bit. I feel like research happens to quickly to make anything other than top tier abilities/weapons/armor worthless. Every time I play a game I have claymores and full plate and have done the entire civics tree before any major encounters occur. I feel there is no incentive to build the peasant army since they
So here is how I picture wisdom essence and intelligence working together. Intelligence= A measure of how difficult a spell the caster is able to use. For example a level 1 spell might require 5 intel while a level 5 spell might need 20 or something similar. Wisdom= The amount of magic the caster can use before becoming exhausted and no longer able to focus on casting spells. (ie mana) Essence= The total power or force that a caster is able to put int
Hmmm for some reason picture did not post
While attacking a city he decides to run into the ocean.
When I went to found my empire, I moved my Sovereign as he was creating it and the city was created where I moved him to, not where he started casting the spell.
I am curious how learning new spells is even going to work. I mean the way that talk about it, I get the idea that very few people are magicly inclined. That means I wouldn't expect hordes of people researching magic for the channeler. I wonder if it is going to be something along the lines of having to find spell, maybe seeing them cast, and just getting powerful enough to expand on things you already know. For example it doesn't seem like it should take a lot m
What they could do is make it part of a quest for when the hero joins you. So when the hero joins you he could say on a recent exploit his sword was lost on some cave doing battle with x beast. It then makes finding the magic item that belongs with the hero less a matter of luck and more performing a quest.
The whole idea of essence and being able to pass it on to your champions to allow them to use magic is pretty cool to me. It got me thinking what about being able to use it on my creatures as well. Say for example I have a horse. Now I decide that this horse is going to be a mount for one of my champions. I would like to be able to enhance the horse. Say turn it into a pegasus so the champion could fly across the battle field or a nightmare
Some major things that other civ's have accomplished would probably be noteworthy as welll. For example some city gaining the help of a dragon probably wouldn't stay quiet for long. Would also be cool if you could spread rumors either with spies or something.
I am sure this post is going to get lost somewhere among the mess of responses to this question but just had to weigh in on this a little bit. It is very rare that I find a game that I am as interested in as I am for Elemental so I want to see this become the best game possible. It seems like by doing a long beta you will be relying heavily on community input. That has potential to be great but remember that Master of Orion 3 did something similar to that and in the end that
