Sword quest spawns a goodie hut called 'Ancient Battlfield.' You automatically get a broadsword there. It's a quest in the lore sense, not the game's .xml sense. As for the quest for justice quests appearing on the map, yeah, I just can't figure out how to stop that. I'm going to change up the quest files and quest spells in paladin v.95 so that this is less incongruous.
I'd love to see the next update for 1.7. AI seems to play better than ever, and with AI Plus I bet the 1.7 AI will do really well.
Ugh, bug with Emigration Office, level 6 town bonus building. Seems to be something in the hard code that makes global growth bonuses not work as I expect them to. Will fix soon, until then don't choose Emigration Office. : )
1.41 update coming, new changes to unrest and bow accuracy in LH 1.7 necessitate some re-balancing for fortress improvements.

Second instance, clicked on a unit portrait first thing on loading a game, crash: Both files in a .rar
For some reason, since LH 1.7, I am getting crashes when entering the unit detail screen for champions. This has happened both in tactical battle mode and on the strategic map. Here's my debug.err and ProgramData .zip file in one .rar

Terraforming spells work!
Wow the AI really does go for spell of making quickly. Second time I've lost to spell of making since 1.7, and I think that makes only a total of 4 times ever for me. I think it's a positive, though - if someone builds those towers, you have to kill them!

Should be a "Mage's staff" purchasable in the store once you get the "enchantment" technology, if memory of the beta serves.
You're right on these observations, but the mage has the greatest potential of any path. If anything, other classes need more to match the potential of the mage. Mages need weaknesses, in my opinion, not more strengths. When I play I rarely choose mage, because it kills the challenge of the game for me. (Were I to try insane/insane, I'd go mage!) Also, there are special mage staffs in LH 1.7, and unitstats included that modders can use to mage mage-specific items in th
