regarding rare techs: Initially, there were supposed to be super-duper "purple" or "grey" techs of awesome. Either they were removed, or they are hidden in data.zip. I'm inclined to say they were removed.

I'm not saying "oh play Extreme! I bet it'll be hella easy!" I'm just asking the "pros" to play on Extreme and give feedback if it is harder or easier than Ridiculous. Or if it is noticeable at all. You can still stomp the AI.

It takes a really damn long time. It says it completes in 1 day, but it really takes like 10 or so. Be patient (: This happens most often when you have two "special" resources together on the same city.

Hey guys, for those who are routinely stomping the AI left and right while on Ridiculous, I have a request: please play on Extreme instead. Why? Because the AI does not use Fog of War hacks. I noticed that the AI tend to leave their cities completely empty a lot on Ridiculous. Not quite so much on Normal. The AI has a limited amount of time to decide how to move. When they have full fog of war, they have a LOT more information to process, but the same amount of time to do so.

A lot of people complain about the AI being shoddy, or being susceptible to certain sort of attack patterns (rushing with a powerful Sov early game, hitting then running back, proper kiting, etc).
