Preamble: When E:FE v0.915 was released, I was overjoyed to see that two new levels of play had been added to the existing seven. The range of play difficulty now runs: Novice, Beginner, Easy, Normal, Challenging, Hard, Expert, Ridiculous, and Insane. I think this is about right -- 5 levels above Normal, and 3 levels below Normal. (I think Stardock made this latest change, partly to satisfy the hard-core players, who were clamoring for

I believe it was 1 essence gives you access, and each one after that gives you like a 1% discount on something. Which I like, because my horses really need armor. I forget which credit cards he said they accepted, but I'm pretty sure Visa was one of them.
[e digicons]:D[/e]
I like updates. Thank you.
So beta 4 should re-work the city building. Yet, I would easily pay $30-40 for this game now. I can't wait to see how it gets better.
I got this too, but could not click the running-in-place AI and reissue orders. Instead, I saved and reloaded. This saved the game for me.
I don't believe this claim that the issue is the result of a camera rotation is so. When I have played the game without rotating the camera, the map-to-minimap movement was still off in the first turn or two. This also occured with the snap-back feature checked.
Something I have noticed with my two current games on this patch: the AI (factions) are ignoring treasure. I am currently creating non-aggression treaties with all empires so I can walk into their territory and collect their unguarded loot (green treasure chests). Granted, I am playing on an easier setting (novice?), but this seemed odd to me.
I have yet to begin a game in the middle of a map. I am always near the edge.

I have the same on another (work) computer with nearly the same specs. It does have a dedicated graphics card, but I will have to write down the model and driver version and re-post after work (they have blocked game sites for the moment).
I completely agree with the OP. I too feel that "Explore" (especially for scouts) should not wander the scouts directly by monsters, much less attack them. The NPC AI is WAY aggressive. Yes, it is a viable tactic. However, I expect lower difficulty settings to lower the difficulty in overcoming that issue.
No offense, but it just sounds to me like you need some more time with the game before complaining about various aspects of it. It almost sounds like you're talking about another game because the normal AI couldn't put up a challenge if I was sleep walking. But let me address a couple of your points: 1. The AI build lots of troops, and will change their tax accordingly to get funds (check the AI cities, sometimes you'll see it a

I found Warlock very boring and slightly confusing, but I just played the demo. So for all I know, the game is good and has plenty of help, information, explanations, and story; while the demo does not. "I slowly fall behind the AI, but it's not clear why. Many turns I skip waiting for armies to heal up or units to be built and it just feels dumb: I'm not doing anything, but it's not clear what I could be doing." </p
As a noob to the genre, I thought the demo sucked completely. There were no tutorials, no good on-going hints... I just felt dumped into a game with some rogues and hunters (wtf are those good for?) and no explanation. That's lame.
I think what the original post is trying to say is, starting out is rather hard for newer players no matter the difficulty, because you will run into some rather difficult monsters. While I believe the recent increase in monster aggressiveness was very much needed, I think the easy setting AI should be toned down a notch, or perhaps not place p
After playing a few more games, the only new thing that sticks out to me is that the monster AI seems a tad too aggressive on easy. While playing on easy, I routinely find the monsters attacking me from several tiles away. While this seems appropriate for normal ai, as a noob to the genre, this would really piss me off. I'm definitely not saying go BACK to how passive the monster AI was before these patches, just that it needs a little tweak in my opinion. &nbs
Quoting Gammit10, reply 18 You completely missed the point. I doubt the pioneers in the OP did not move because of strategy. I doubt the OP could not walk through friendly territory because of the intended game mechanics. I know there was little more I could do in my scenario. The issue, IMO, is indeed in world generation. After tens of turns, simply saying "oh well" and hitting ctrl+N is not a viabl
No offense, but to me that seems to be a problem with world generation than it is one of game mechanics. Everyone knows that the map generator isn't perfect, that's why they have ctrl+N. I suppose you could argue that you might want to pick earth magic just in case of something like that, but I would just restart if that were the case. The whole issue here isn't the fairness in map generation, but that he wants to be able to wa
