I like to play loooong games, and create a story about my civilization as I go. And I can't tell you how cool it would be to have a game last through generations of leaders. It would be really cool.

They set the bar pretty high with GalCiv2, so I think some people--myself included--thought Elemental would be more similar, as far as diplomacy and the like.
I must be in a minority cause I don't care much about succession & diplomacy. I want it arcadey like Master of Magic where you can't abuse the A.I like you can in Age of Wonders. Houserules shouldn't be needed for main features. &nbs
The last thing Elemental needs is more time spent on the RPG aspects. They need to focus more on Empire building and diplomacy. If one wants to play and RPG, then play an RPG.
Something I love about GalCiv2 is the ability to play a long and enjoyable game through diplomacy and empire management, while never waging war or fighting. Am I right in thinking this notion basically doesn't exist in Elemental?
But the question is, are you playing as your sovereign, or your empire (as in Civ)?
Most definitely, for me anyway, I play as the Civilization. But really, even in other games, like Civ or GalCiv2, you're still playing as a leader, with a name and stats or bonuses. This gave Elemental a chance to do something very new, and very cool...ruler heirs. The idea of marrying and having children is

We can forgive your a-holiness Xia, but not everyone's. [e
I don't mind that it was removed from monster cards, but it was a really cool part of Sovereign creation, I'll miss it. I didn't notice it was gone because I've been using the same Sov for a few months...
Why remove it? I don't understand how it improves the game to have it gone.
What happened to it? That seems an odd little thing to remove. I liked it a lot.
what the eff is that supposed to mean. instead of being a jerk just answer the question or go screw yourself. do not play cute because i criticized the game, this game deserves some damn criticism
If you bothered to scan the forum a little better, you might have noticed another thread bitching about the campaign that was locked. So your thread isn't just pointless, it's doubly pointless.
you're going to love fallen enchantress...
Probably not, I know. I wish these games were more empire building and less RPG battles.
...because I love Galciv2. So, I turn off random monster spawning (there's none of that in GC2). I treat my sovereign like my flagship, exploring and snatching up goodie huts. In the beginning of the game, I create pioneers (like I would create colony ships in GC2) and explore with them, looking for good city spots. I don't want to fight random spiders and wolves, I want to grow an empire and interact with the other major civilizations..
countdown to lock... 3... 2... 1...
The more I think about dynasties being cut, the less I like the decision. Dynasties were one of the more original and interesting things about EWoM...the system just needed to be fixed a bit. Like having an heir take over as sovereign after the previous sovereign dies.
The best manual I ever saw was the one that came with my copy of Civ II, it was huge!
Will there be an awesome, all inclusive, hopefully 300 page, super cool manual for Fallen Enchantress (which was lacking in EWoM)? And for those getting a digital download of it for free, can they get a paper version that would be in the retail FE? Thank you.
Quoting charon2112, reply 17 I don't agree with that. Nothing is etched in stone, especially in a Stardock game. It can definitely be improved, and I'm sure SD isn't afraid of work. Welcome to business reality, then. They also need to make some money on this stuff to continue developing it, and that's not going to happen with WoM now. It is what it is. FE means a chance to start fresh, and a new set
Also the "less city micromanagement" in this interview sounded suspiciously close to "dumbed down" or "deemphasized", but it's Stardock so I'm at least far less worried than I otherwise might be.
I was worried about this too.
That's why it's called a double standard, duh. It's a numbers thing, male gamers on this site outnumber girls, maybe, 5000 to 1. and even worse is when guys pretend they don't care, because they think it gets them on her 'good side'... Every straight guy on here is wondering the same thing...at least I'm honest about it.
Exactly.&n
It's also a very large amount of work, and not worth doing for what is now an old game. At some point people need to accept that WoM is what it is, and trying to freeze time to avoid the new game while also saying "dump a ton of resources into this one" is just not realistic.
I don't agree with that. Nothing is etched in stone, especially in a Stardock game. It can definitely be improved,
that's too bad, because a problem like bland AI races is totally fixable, and would dramatically change the game for the better.
a strange game...the only winning move is not to play.
That's amazing. :) And so lazy on 2K's part...
Civilization 5 is still a mediocre game (or worse) in my opinion because it was released far, far, far too early. That bun should have spent at least another year in the oven if not two. 2K Games wanted to appease their shareholders and make their year end reports look better. Civilization 5's AI is not good at all. The gameplay is
I just want a game that's as awesome as GalCiv2 but with a fantasy setting.
