At first, it would only load about 4 Megabytes, and then stall, and say that there was a Network error. I think what was happening, was that the file was so big (32++ Megabytes) that it was overwhelming my copy of Adobe Acrobat. BUT , I just kept
More interviews with Stardock staff who are members of the E:FE Development team -- Nice ! Interesting stuff, and provides some added insights ... as well as hints and tips of things to come. I do agree very much with Brian Clair; when he makes the point that Music , and Sound Effects , can make a big difference in how you perceive a game, and ultimately, how
Nice job on the Fallen Enchantress Manual, Kestral2040! It really does look classic! As Kael said, thanks to you and your team for putting it together (Toby Sarnelle, Kathleen Land, Brian Clair, Leo Li, Nicole Gambrell). It's another one of those "little things" that makes the whole package (the game, as well as the Beta process) seem that much cooler ... and a Cut Above ... what we typically see from Stardock's c
Great Interview! ... Great Publicity! ... Way to go, Kael! [e digicons][/e] Dealt me an Epiphany too. I know that your background is that you came from the modding community. Of course, I knew that modding will be a large part of the Fallen Enchantress post-release universe (wi
As I said in another Discussion Thread, there are times when the last 7.5 months (since I down-loaded Fallen Enchantress) have seemed like a lifetime; and there are times when it has seemed far too short. All in all, it's been entertaining, educational, and a heck of a ride ... Thanks for taking us along! [e digicons][/e]
... [ I think ] ... they had to recreate the documents folders from scratch for the fix. Hey, thanks for the quick feedback, SciFi1950, and from such a good Source (Kael, himself). You are right, of course, that it is not only the Custom Sovereigns that have disappeared. The Custom Races have disappeared as well. Furthermore, a lot of features have basically been RESET with this update. For example, the downloard of v 0.992 resets the Gaming Options too. So
As usual, I am running a little late ("day late, and a dollar short", as per my regular modus operandi); so I just got around to downloading the v 0.992 update today (Saturday, about Noon, Mountain Standard Time). Actually I thought that was a prudent move, because I knew that the short-lived v 0.991 micro-update (from a couple days ago) had been partially defective, and caused some folks to experience some new problems that they had never
My Two Gildar: Tuidjy is correct. Not only is Autosave somewhat/partially/kind-of broken; but Stardock really needs to get this right, before the Official Release ... (okay, or as soon thereafter as possible, since release is this coming Tuesday). On the plus side, I personally (rigorously, religiously, anal-ly) manually save, at the end of every turn, and then ma
102.53 Hours, since I downloaded my first Beta copy, on February 24. Probably more hours on E:FE, than any other PC game, in the same timeframe ... (I'm quasi-retired, so I DO spend a lot of time playing with the five PC's in our household.) As for Seanw3's total, that is mind-blowing ... Most working stiffs (after all) only put 2080 hours into their j
I think you guys have it backwards. My arbitrary prediction: Procipinee ends up being the main antagonist, the "Fallen Enchantress." She is, after all, the one trying to "unite the realms of the world under her banner" - how do you think she's going to do that, hugs and kisses? She's a power-crazy conquerer, who's sending her minions (you!) to the other side of the world, just to brutally stamp out someone she thinks might be a threat
To be honest I have rarely played strategy game campaigns in the past preferring to get into a full on sandbox match but this intrigues the RPG gamer in me. " The more you play it, the more it changes. " -- rough quote from Frogboy, following upon his observations that when you design great new units, they sort of permanently enter the "combat rolls" (table of units), such that they can be used by the AI players against you, in later games. That is a terrific design feature!
Amusing idea for a Discussion Thread, Mmrnmhrm. Actually I had the same idea a few days back; but I didn't execute, and you did. So, Good on You, Mate ! I think that FE deserves an honest 90; but I don't think it will quite achieve that level. Civ V was moving on the whole Sid-Meier-is-unique vibe, and E:FE (as we all know) has the E:WoM Albatross hanging around it

I applaud your question, Soulfire777 -- Glad you asked. I can see why you might wonder, given the volume of discussion on bugs, just now. BUT, to add my voice to the previous folks, the Game is ready for release (by any reasonable, or current, standard for the industry). And it will be that much better, by October 23rd. Just to review the bidding, the game is feature rich,
Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, Derek and Company; but there are now some reports suggesting that your v 0.991 micro-patch may be causing as many problems as it is fixing. [e digicons]:([/e] See, for example: https://forums.elementalgame.com
Thanks for the timely Observation, Glazunov1. I've had no issues with the v 0.990 build (no crashes). However I was expecting to download the ( reputedly ) super-short v 0.991 update. I understood that it was designed principally to correct other crash-inducing bugs! (And, like you, I am using 32-bit WinXP.) Now I am having second thoughts ... So, Thanks for the Info; and Good Luck
Thanks, Brad, for this "Countdown: 7 days to Release" video. Another fascinating look behind the scenes ... And thanks, again, to all of the Stardock folks on the FE Design Team, who have worked hard, for so long, to turn out this excellent product. Incidentally, this looks like a great place to work! I mean, I know everyone works hard; but cha
