It seems that today the DNS registry for services.stardock.net was 'screwed' up. During this period when I tried to run Fallen E; it complained about being unable to login and asked me to do this or that (instead of just reporting that the dns resolutions was screwed up). - This begs the question; how do we play the game when stardock network services are unavailable ?

I started playing the game last night and while I enjoy (there are interface issues that I think need to be addressed) i've also hit quite a few bugs that cause crashes. Unfortunately i can't really tell if they are on your list; a good chunk of the bugs seems to occur when I load a game. 1) it will sometime simply crash; if I then rerun the game i can correctly load it (perhaps latent memory corruption or some sort of race condition) 2) Once I clicked s

My old game computer has xp on it; though I haven't turned it on in about 6 months; the new one runs windows 7 64. Bit perplexed by windows 8 but hopefully I'll be able to skip that - after all I'm using a computer not a tablet :) Btw fallen enchantress looks really good.

I'm not really a windows guru; more of a unix guru; but as far as I can tell the signature of the program doesn't show up till after you run the setup; it seems applied to the binary that was wrapped in the setup.exe. Also you are right the md5 is not the best; though hardly weak given a known filesize; but sha256 is significantly more robust. Hum. Actually rumor is that md5 has been 'cracked'. Anyways for those who wonder; to obtain the hash all you hav

I'm not even sure what you are intending to state. They dont' exactly run out :) It is not a quantity that is distributed (like keys)
You might ask Brad, he might still have some left
Standard practice; I prefer to check the hash before running a binary (even one from stardock) on my pc. You can check the store record; I am a legit purchaser. Anyways most places provide hashes (gog for example list the hash (md5sum or sha256) of all their software.
Is there a reason why you need the hash? If your download is corrupt I imagine the installer will not run or will indicate it is corrupt anyway.

age of wonder shadow magic is well supported; visit heavenly game site for user add on content if you go that route. No comment on the other stuff mentioned in this thread.

Thanks!! Btw - that was the first placed I looked before posting the question; but alas I was blind this morning. Btw the copyright is only for 2010; they haven't updated it to 2011 :)
Clear the Allow Auto Login check box on the Gameplay tab of the Options dialog.
I have a pre-order copy of elemental. Vaguely (well more than vaguely) I believe we were told that we would get two free add-ons with the first one being fallen enchantress. Is this still the plan and if so what will be the second free add-on ? Just curious - I'll probably give the game another shot when Fallen Enchantress comes out; was a little disappointed by the orignal as I had hoped it would be closer to age of wonder series.

I agree that city spam is bad but I'm not sure distance is the correct way to limit them. I'd rather a combination of negatives but not sure of best constraint. At first I was thinking the limit should be cost/maintainence if population is below a certain level or disease factor if cities too close but these don't feel like the best method. A city should be a resource center; place to earn money and train troops but if you have too many cities resources should be spread

The tactical portion of the game seems very weak. Another game I very much enjoy is King bounty (ap/l) which does not have city building but mostly tactical combat. I tried to figure out why it seems so much stronger in that department. I think there are a couple of reasons. First the actual combat options seem to be more varied. You can place obstacles; mix long and near combat (in a fashion more varied than simple archers allow) and perhaps the grid format make movement options more

I seem to get a crash to desktop every 60 to 90 minute. Per Kryo instructions here is the link to the debug log. I had to edit it to get it below 100KB limit. I have the original if you need more info. http://pastebin.ca/1930170 -- These CTD only occur during combat. machine is win xp 32 sp3; 8800gts (actually machine and driver info is in the link)/

Well as of 1.06 I'm now getting a crash an hour and it is quite annoying; enough that I think I'll play to the next crash then shelf the game until the next patch. My machine does not have an ati card or 64 bit os and does have 2GB of memory. Grrrr.... the mechanics need work but crashes are just plain annoying.

I'm playing the 1.06 version and have ended up crashing 3 times to desk top in the past 3 hours. While I had no crashes prior to 1.06 I'm not sure I've played enough prior for the experience to be conclusive. Unfortunately I haven't seen a pattern yet to suggest reproduction. I have an nvida graphic card so it isn't any of the common ati issues (8800gts 512MB). I do play quit a few games (bit too much oh well) and this is the only one crashing so while a driver might no

While I'm not very happy with the game I've personally decided to pass on the refund route. I knew what I was getting into when I purchased it and next time I think I'll wait for reviews/demo. Anyways not all is lost maybe it will be improved in the future.

Supposedly aow/aow 2 and aow-sm will be available on steam in a few weeks. There is a huge community @ heavenly for this game and there is a fan made patch (1.4) which is quite good.
I reinstalled AOW:SM and been killing time with that while waiting for the slowdown fix for Elemental. Shame you can't find it for sale anywhere though. I heard they're going the 'steam' route sometime soon. They've also been working on a new

Which of these games do not have interactive (tactical combat)? It sounds like only Domions 3 but wanted to check. Of the ones mentioned wizardry 8, aow sm and kb l/ap are great. Homm is a bit dated (but I enjoyed 3 - hated 5 as simplistic and boring). Wizadry 8, Avernum and Eschlon book 2 (not like rogue since the map is static with a fixed story) are more traditional story rpg games. Anyways (not really related) but with the 1.06 patch I'm getting a lot of ctd m
