My point was not if the threat level should be higher on wolves; the point I was trying to make (perhaps too subtle) is the lack of ability to apply tactics in the fight. I.e, ideally you would like to be able to defend the weaker unit by moving stronger unit up but the map is so small there is very little chance to change the layout of your men. I think this couple with swarm have in fact removed the option of tactic and moved it closer to brute force approach (ala don't attack or be att

I guess you missed this comment: "will very likely die the first round."; would love to move the dead back :)
Not really a problem, high initiative/fast moving units like wolves are really weak so you don't take that much damage even if there are several. Just move the weakest unit back and finish them off with your full strength units.
I'm not sure I follow; you can change tactics because it happens turn 1; given that armies normally move away from the city it sounds like you are suggesting that you always travel with two armies side by side so you can pick the type of troupes require per fight ?
One thing that sort of concerns me is that on the smaller tactical map when you face a fast moving critter (like wolves) is they can swarm a single defender (er just about any single defender) before a perimeter can be setup; so the weakest defender (usually a range unit) will very likely die the first round. - It seems like if the tactical map were a bit larger there would be a chance to setup a perimeter (stronger defenders on the front line). Is this an issue ?
Eventually; kind of painful for me to download the full tarball each time.
Perhaps you should uninstall and reinstall FE. That way, you'd get the latest version.
Ok thanks Missed that. For some reason I thought the Legend key was going to provide both games on Steam; I mostly cared because I had hoped it would fix my patch problem with FE. I guess for now I should enjoy FE-LH.
FE:LH is completely stand-alone. It functions like a sequel. It does not require you to have FE installed anywhere.
I can't comment yet on Fallen Enchantress Legend since I haven't gotten very far but I'm a bit confused: I have fallen enchantress via stardock - and Fallen enchantress legend via steam; but I thought that legend as an expansion shared files with enchantress. Since I've stopped updating Fallen Enchantress (since the patch doesn't work on my system and it became a bit of a chore to delete the old version a
I wonder if an alternative approach would be to increase the cost of a 'young city'. I.e, instead of making the pioneer expensive; create a burden when a city is first starting (think of it as larger cities having to support the smaller one). This would also create an incentive to raze a small captured city rather than adopt. - This still allows for pioneer exploration but makes rapid expansion somewhat more difficult and adds a decision factor on what to do with newly
To be honest other than gui interface issues already listed the only two real complaints i have about FE are the use of squares instead of hexes (or better) and that the patch system does not work on my system so i have to download the full tarball to update. FE was definitely fun to play. I understand the expansion will likely stick with squares but hopefully the follow up games will improve in this area (its an opinion but i always found hexes or better yet octs allowed for better flanking
Hum blank lines were collapsed into one long string of text. Lets try this again: In case this is not clear; create a new directory on C: called xyztest using the link below mount an unused partition on C:\xyztest http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11253-mount-drives-partitions-folder.html now install fallen enchantress 1.02 (or 1.01 or 1.00) on C:\xyztest\[....]\Fallen Enchantress Now downloa

I have to admit I liked the concept of marriage and dynasties in the original game. I'm not 100% sure it worked well but the concept was (for me) very interesting. Would love to see it expanded and flushed out in some future version of elemental. Though hopefully they will fix the patch system first.
So I've been complaining forever how the patch system doesn't work and destroys my mount points. I submitted a note to support indicating this problem. First they try to tell me it was a temporary glitch. Then they try to tell me that I needed to change directories before installing the patch. Then they simply default the useless but normal response: It was fixed. Naturally i was stupid enough to believe them and try it with 1.1. What happens. The usual it blows away my freaking mount poi
I've gotten replies from support unfortunately the answers had indicated they do not understand the problem: the patch system still blows away mount points. It seems that support is not aware of what constitute a mount point so here is the ms reference: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753321.aspx -- In support defense I must be th
Nice mod but it shouldn't be a mod; I.e, stardock shoudl 'fix' the base game.
In [1.0.1] I'm playing a game in which three Arena of Slakhana are about 6 squares from each other (diagnal). I took a screenshot but your forum does not allow for such to be uploaded. If you want I'll email it.

I saw this quite a bit in 1.0 but it was not specific to archers. I had to hit the complte combat button in the upper right to get out of the hang; hitting the button next to the complete battle (the one that is something like real time) did nothing. In 1.0.1 i'm having more issues but not sure yet if it is specifc to 1.0.1 or the patch/install system breakage. I run windows 7 64 bit.
I'm getting a few crashes with 1.01; and also run windows 7 64 bit; however I'm not 100% sure what is going on. The patch blew away my mount point; and when I fixed things manually. Then I installed the full 1.01; which said it was first uinstalling 1.0 but the uninstall of 1.0 seemed to not have been clean; not sure here. No clue what FE keeps in the registry and if incorrect uninstall of 1.0 by 1.0.1 install left junk there. Anyways I then uninstall 1.0.1 and then deleted ever
@)(#*)@*# your patch system still blows away soft mounts on windows 7; which means the entire blob has to be donwloaded to install. I appreciate the hard work et all on the game but there has to be a way to fix your patch system; it is the only one that does it. Any clue why this happens ??????
Yea that is my preference but they do not seem interested in that change so I thought I would suggest something in between....
I have two UI change request - pretty please: On the left side you list cities; there is a +/- box you can click to display not display them. It would be super nice if there was a third option to show only idle (Z) cities. Pretty please ? A method to trade and use items; either the ability to use items in the trade menu or maybe add an equipment button next to trade/shop so you can switch back to the equipment gui and then use the item ? &
actually raise land didn't work on ocens during the mid beta (8x I think); but I didn't nkow it was a bug I thought that was how it worked.
Generally speaking steam is my first choice for a digital game (even if it cost more; though I will buy from another vendor if they provide a steam key). My only real complaint about steam is that they are hard to reach if there is an issue. They do respond to email (usually a couple of days later) but generally speaking I've had no real issue with steam itself. - This is in contrast to other vendor on line 'stuff' (the two that have given me the most problem are g
