It would be great if cavalry was countered by spearmen. It's an early game tech anyone can get and it's realistic.

The unit sound when a unit is ready for action (in tactical or strategic) or when a unit is selected is louder and more distracting now.
Civ IV had this in the form of colonies. Worst mechanic ever, imo, as the AI never did what you would have intended them to do, and they always eventually turned against you.
It would be an interesting way to give yourself an extra challenge to work with what the AI gives you. But this would only work if it were completely voluntary.
To answer a few questions. 2. There isn't a faction-wide storage but that would be really convenient. 5. Yes, report the typos. 6. There should be more opportunities to use these items than there already are (I know of one but I won't tell). Opportunity for crafting? 10. Roads are built automatically when you have the Trading tech (roads between cities) and the Economics tech (roads to outposts).
If i'm worried about a neighbor or monster attacking me one border, I'll use scouts to look around in another area so I can keep my heroes in my armies to guard my borders. I actually tend to make custom scouts that are even cheaper to produce since they will die. Am I the only one that does this? I play challenging AI right now with most of the default settings.
While I think I have a vague idea of what Influence and Prestige are for after playing and reading the forums, I think there should be entries for these concepts in the game help, particularly for new players when the game is officially released.
Suppose you could let a stationed champion have control of a city, then they gain experience since they were running things more on their own without you micro-managing them (and maybe not exactly how you would do it).
interesting ideas. Most of the class bonuses could be tied to the weapons (spears vs mounts and assassins using daggers are great ideas). does armor weight affect initiative? that might be your heavy vs. light infantry there.
Quoting Alfdaur, reply 8It would be cool if you would get an pop-up like this: "Greetings my Lord! I bring you great news! An area in our domain has become fertile enough for settlement! The people talk in excitment about going there and sing songs about the returning land. They await your command, my Lord." This would be an excellant way to approach to pop-up land if it's meant to be there.
Personally, the lack of movement penalty is my reason for loving master scouts and I don't want to see that go (and I do play other factions as well). But on top of that, what if it just granted the "stealthy" trait where monsters are less likely to attack, but it could still happen?
I think I would also prefer having tiles re-settle-able in some way (especially after a monster attack). In the games I've played, building a few unrest-reducing buildings is just as if not more effective for me than would just razing and rebuilding from scratch (unless I wanted a different city type). It's not hard to get a conquered city near 0% unrest, just takes some time so I wouldn't see raze/rebuild as an exploit. But I do like being able to raze cities I
Quoting Glazunov1, reply 3Or possibly, "I'll make a note of this, and come back later." Poor soul says: "Sir, sir! A giant spider is attacking our village! We're being killed!" You say: "I'll make a note of this and come back later."
haha, true, true.
Personally, I am not a fan of snaking cities; I like the smaller ones we have now. I would like forests and harbors to be natural resource tiles that you can control with outposts like wild grain, and mines. Haz cake, tis eaten as well.
people swinging axes next to each other would be more likely to get in each others way and hit their comrades too. spears and short swords are better in tight formations. I would vote for spears getting an accuracy boost and a bonus against cavalry. Horses really don't like charging into sharp pointy things.
I'd like to see spears have an ability to strike one tile away (range 2) to simulate
Yes, it should be "Im too busy for this right now." or "Maybe later"
Same here, I wonder if this is an intended change.
One of my favorite features of Fallen Enchantress is that despite being a strategy game, every…sing…unit…in the game has their own equipment that can be customized in real time. So you get dancing boots, you put them on, and you see it reflected visually on the map.
mine too.
At first I thought this was a localization request for Poland. I am tired.
My guess is "Balanced" seems to mean that a map is a MIX of different terrain types so some starting areas are better than others. Maybe they should rename that map type to "Mix" because "Balanced" implies "Equal". I mostly play on temperate or swamp now and there are consistently more opportunities to settle.
BUILD IT!!!! BUILD IT NOW!!!!! AAAHHHH!!!!!
Those pioneers are going to settle the crap out of that land.
I agree, in a sense.
Yes, I like the new options too. I'm playing with the default settings first to get a feel for the changes but I think I'm going to play with more wildlands.
you should see new portraits when you pick your city's specialization at level 2, and then afterward on the bottom left corner where your build queue is. the fortress has a tower with a red sky, the town has a windmill on a grassy hill, I don't remember the conclave portrait. they look more like the paintings in the game rather than a still of a 3d shot.
I especially like the new portraits for village, towns, fortresses, and conclaves. I like the new fonts. I like the sounds the spiders make when they die. More to come.
