People have suggested making the Path of the Governor buff city defense in various ways. One way would be to give heroes with the path "spells" or abilities themed on medieval fortifications that they call for. These would make governor heroes much more interesting to play since they could actually do something. Boiling oil - AOE spell doing flame damage Hail of stones - drop rocks on attackers heads, i think earth elementals have something that could be duplicated

lot's of good suggestions here.
yeah, i've been seeing more running in place too.
I used Nageach the Stonecutter the other day. He's a beast with his warhammer.
Yeah, I think i prefer the current system but I assume modding champions' costs and requirements won't be too difficult.
seems to be fixed after the latest update
dangerous enemies are fine, but their threat rating should reflect that. any unit that can reduce an entire, early army's hp by 80% should be at least a medium.
Released on 10/4/2012 Any upgradable resource improvements show up in the cities build list (just like connected ones) When you get a useable item the popup will allow you to use it (similar to how you can equip equipable items) Added more stats to the city levelup screen
Thank you.
Derek Paxton began the v 0.982 Changelog on Friday, September 28 (early !) and has been updating it, pretty much, every day since. It can be found at the link below: https://forums.elementalgame.com/432738 And it is pretty impressive too ...
awesome, thanks.
double post. not doing well today.
shoot, I forgot I just updated. I now see the plain, boring text that everyone else sees.

you could make it a trade-off where a closed border treaty prevents you from establishing a trade treaty (and trade requires open borders) and could cost you relationship points with the other party.
That would have to be told to the user somehow, or you could think that you are producing badass units and it turns out they are crap cause you didnt notice you ran out of metal.
good point. maybe have the icon greyed out but have a button where you could choose to build a sub-optimal version with what you have.
Custom and designed units that use the "best available" equipment sometimes can't be built because I don't have the resources. For example, I unlocked some magic boots but I ran out of crystal. Sometimes I have to create a new unit and specify lower-grade equipment. Not sure if it's possible at this point, but what if you could build the best available with the resources you had?

good work everyone. keep it coming.
Quoting stein220, reply 5It would be great if cavalry was countered by spearmen. It's an early game tech anyone can get and it's realistic. Even if mounts were vulnerable to spears you wouldnt solve the original problem; that +2 move is super OP and really hard to balance since it affects so many different areas of the game.
The spears are primarily a tactical counter to be sure. I thought I had downloaded the latest patch, guess not. Thanks.
However it ends up working out, it should be explained in the Hiergemanon.
