Hi folks, long time no post. Has anyone had the opportunity to test out the DirectX 12 version from the Windows 10 technical preview in a system equipped with an AMD FX CPU? After seeing the Anandtech test, I keep wondering how it affects the FX series of AMD CPUs. Since they don't have full cores, it would be nice to know how well an 8 core behaves on DirectX 12 vs DirectX 11, or even the 6 core variants. If there's anyone that has done test, and are willing to share,

Defiance also had, more or less, the same basic plot as Terra Nova
(outsider dude becomes sheriff, someone wants to destroy the town from within)
, combined with the same vibe Tabula Rasa had. Not really a proven combination for long lasting appeal, but I liked it.
Too bad they made Armageddon a part of it, Guerrilla was a so much better game, with a multiplayer that, had it not been for Games for Windows Live being horrible, is a ton of fun. (Yes, I'm complaining about a game that in essence cost 25 cents)
Having failed the written exam twice, on account of the questions being dumb, I don't own a car, but I have driven a few in training, and by coincidence, there were all the same type of car, the Dacia 1300: (for reference, Top Gear's James May kept going on about the Dacia Sandero until the other two got him one and crashed it) <img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/31/Dacia_1300.JPG/800px-Dacia_1300.JPG" alt="" wi
So, I was browsing around the internet instead of working again, and I came up with this: http://semiaccurate.com/2012/11/26/intel-kills-off-the-desktop-pcs-go-with-it/ In short, the CPU that Intel is prepping after next year's Haswell, that Broadwell thing, won't be using a standard socket, it will be soldered to the motherboard. So that means no more upgrades and a lot less t
Loved that scene, really sad they won't continue the series. Thought there was supposed to be some special show to end everything this year.
Gave PlanetSide 2 a go, it used to murder the PentiumD in the beta, hit 65 once, hovered at 63 or lower for most of the time, and that used to be a really CPU intensive game in the beta. So, so far, it's all good. But honestly, it's very jarring to play something at this high a framerate after being accustomed to it running at 5-10 frames a second. It's like when I switched from my Pentium 2 to the Athlon 64 back in 2006... which was about a year before this C2Q was made..
Jafo has kept hinting at something, and after a while I've manged to decipher his riddle. Now I'm idling at 37-38 on the main core, which is swell. Haven't run any other tests. Maybe that will keep it from going over 70 while encoding videos, since I've found out it's not made to operate correctly over 71, and I make my living from web shows about video games. Gotta say I hate the LGA775 snap on/have no idea if it's actually snapped on, moun
Thank you for all the advice. I'm building up the courage to meddle with it again. I doesn't help that I'm 90% certain I will make things worse, I haven't gotten paste on the CPU pads yet, so that's probably on my to fail list.
Well, I've slept on it. In the light of day you can barely see that everything was silver last night. Haven't taken the heastink off again. Instead, I tested it with prime95 again, temperature didn't go over 75 for 15 minutes. Most importantly, I re-encoded the video I previously did with the Pentium D, it finished in half the time, with temp going once over 70, but staying mainly under 70. So far it hasn't exploded, and unless that happens, I think I'll leav
I know what it does, makes me look like the Silver Surfer. It's getting to 50 degrees in FTL now, not exactly something fun. I'll re-re add it tomorrow. This time even less of it. I swear these were made especially to discourage people like me from meddling with the CPU. It was also probably not a good idea to show my support for the new computer store down the street by buying thermal paste from them, since they didn't have any on stock, and the one they g
Hello folks, stop me if you've heard this before, but changing a CPU is hard if you have no prior experience in doing it. Thought it would be something easy, just pop the old one out, pop the new on in, ladder some thermal paste on it, put the cooler on and BANG! That's all she wrote. Well, it sort of started like that. Got the old CPU out OK, put the new one in without hassle, got the heatsink cleaned, and began wondering just how fluid is thermal paste when I
Guys, really? Metacritic? Really? Don't buy into it, don't give that monstrosity power. Or at least not as long as my reviews aren't on it.
Immune to magic no longer protects against special abilities like crushing blow and true strike Love this! Really got my posterior handed to me when a successful gambler's strike got immuned by one of those big snake things. Also, I have prepared this short review of the game: "Dragon, dragon burning bright... oh crap, I'm on fire." Also a longer <a href="http://www.games-arena.ro/2012/11/12/review-elemental-fallen-enc
Other idea. Can we please get a few more unique hero progression options? Most if not all of the perks I keep finding are all statistics related, it would be nice to have some that aren't just tied to numbers, but give some sort of extra ability. Like, when your hit points go below a certain number, you start to randomly teleport across the map every turn. Or, every time you cast a spell that requires X or more amount of mana, there's a chance you'll summon a demon a
Random event/world quest ideas: Tectonic Shift: randomly changes a part of the terrain, like water to land, land to mountains, mountains to plains, plains to water, in a not very large area of the map. Reign of Fire: A bunch of dragons start roaming the land, you'll need to find Christian Bale in order to stop the source of the invasion. Time of Storms: Units on the map outside any area of control are randomly struck
About 10 years ago, when I got my first CD-Rom, I had the demo of Space Empires 4 on a disk. It was limited to the tutorial and to 100 turns, and since I couldn't go over 640*480 resolution on my display, I never got to see the entire screen, but I played that demo for ages. I finally got the full game much later and played the heck out of it. Probably played it more than both Master of Orion games. I wouldn't say Space Empires 5 should be avoided at all costs, though it
It's already been two years? Wow, time does fly. Elemental has changed a lot since then, well, War of Magic itself changed a lot in a few months, but still, I appreciate that you didn't give up. [e digicons][/e] Now let's see Beta 4 in action and beta test the hell out of it!
You know what would exemplify this advancement best? A dancing ogre.
I've had several encounters with depression... today, but shoving wires into my head, although it sometimes seemed like a good idea as any, doesn't seem so appealing when I'm lucid.
I've been out of the loop for a while, but DAMN! Those are some awesome improvements. It's going to cause me a lot of lost sleep, but I'm getting back to beta testing once this update hits.
I don't think that's what Brad meant. Having a 32 and 64 bit version isn't the issue. Having extra content that only works with the 64 bit version, that people who have the 32 bit version of their OS couldn't use at all, is the issue. That content being separate from the main game, that works equally for everyone, would not cause a community divide. Actually, considering it's a singleplayer TBS, nothing can cause a community divide.
Since I plan to switch to the 64bit version of Windows 7(nice of them to include both version on the disk for the obscene amount of money it costs) in my 2013-2014 build (the one that should have been the 2012 build until, I started paying bills), I'm all for it. Gamers however can be very fickle (if that's the correct use of the word), so unless the new content really feels like it would be unable to run on 32 bit, they will complain. I know I would(have,am, will).
Crusader Kings 2, like every other Paradox grand strategy, features an adjustable speed setting, even a pause button. It is a lot like a TBS in terms of flow. The troop management is honestly very simple, since you don't really do much with the armies, except making a formation, pointing them in the right direction and then being amazed at how they are slaughtered by the enemy. The AI is quite capable of handling itself and using everything at it's disposal, in combat and outside of i
I was really excited about Diablo 3, still am, but not as much after I played the beta. The way they remade the Skill Rune system, into a simple skill tree that only unlocks to it's fullest near the highest level, is very disappointing. It doesn't seem all that different from Diablo 2, albeit, with 30 extra levels of unlocking skills. I've got nothing against the concept, since I've been playing Diablo 2 for ages, but what attracted me most to Diablo 3 was the novelty it broug
