Just saying we should not rip apart people just for having an opinion. It's beyond "just an opinion." It's become semantical rhetoric, borderline inane. Your response is just more of the same, trying to twist what is said into proving some kind of point. You think you are
What the OP describes has been my issue with Elemental since pre-ordering it ages ago. I've dabbled in the beta repeatedly and lasted no more than 10 minutes each time. Why? Because I have no clue what to do, ever, and figuring out how to do even simple tasks that I think I should be doing is a royal pain. I was going to write a bunch of stuff but I'll keep it short. I'm at one with PCs and software. I've been
It never takes them long, i'm not surprised. Dominions has a nice way of dealing with the piracy issue by just making all new patches break old illegal versions of the game in subtle and annoying ways. I'm guessing Elemental could do the same since the rate of patches will be fairly high for a bit here.
If you're doing separate attacks you could just apply a penalty to defence for each subsequent attack. Say - 10%, so against a party the first soldiers attack is rolling against the hero's full defence, and the final attack is at 70% of the heroes defence. A high level hero could probably still take on a party or small group without breaking a sweat, but when facing off against a virtual army some damage is going to get through.
(wow, Paradox released a functional game on day 0. Hell is freezing over.)
Functional is not the same as playable unfortunately...
Well I'm waiting to buy it for a couple months/patches, but since you have it I think you might as well check it out. If it starts to feel tedious or unfun then just shelve it until the next patch I guess.
Bah, the combat system from Dominions was great at modeling how big units would fare against a hoard of little guys. I don't understand the reasoning behind the current implementation, and I don't understand why every designer thinks they have to invent their own system. I hope that the combat system is either modable, or simply changed to something a bit more reasonable.

I'll figure this game out, but I'm wasting time figuring out things which should be obvious. The last game I played which had such a steep learning curve... was MoO3. I stuck with that one, and eventually grew to love it, but it took a ton of work to get there, and I recall how horribly that bombed on sales. I don
Well I don't think anyone, even the SD crew, would disagree. The game is 'unfinished' because it's planned to have multiple content enhancing releases over the coming year+. I dunno, I made the decision a while back not to buy the game until after a couple of these 'patches' come out, just because I don't want to bother with the initial release, since I knew this was going to be the initial product. It's a bit of a shame tho

We can see and measure microscopic things today with our advanced technology and learning. Back in midieval times if they couldn't see it with the naked eye, it didn't exist and thinking otherwise would get you burned at the stake for wit

15 monster TYPES does not necessarilly mean only 15 different monsters. A monster TYPE could be 'orc' or 'dragon', of which you may have a variety to chose from. I guess we'll have to wait for more details.
If the son was Suskonnoma then yes, he had 3 HP and a whooping 18 attack!
Um... It's just a game. It'll be around supported for a decade at least if Brad has his way. I'm guessing your mental health will be better if you just forget about it while on vacation and then enjoy it all the more as you get back home to a nice 'surprise' (well you won't be surprised). Of course there are multiple paths. That's not in question. The question, which has been clearly stated several times, is how balanced are the paths? Brad probably has some idea, but hasn't given his opinion on it yet, at least not in these AAR threads.
