I have never even tried a demo, and cannot remember ever even going to a TW site to look at info about the games. Though it's possible I did for one of the first iterations. But, I'm glad to hear that people are happy with this one, even if I don't care for the series.
Quoting shadowtongue, reply 125 Brad is saying that whatever the MP is going to wind up, it's not really going to be much of a focus. Most don't want it to be, just want it to be the same as single player but with more humans.
Yes, that is the desire, but apparently, that's not what SD is going to do. We both understand this, and it's a shame for the MP crowd I suppose.
Ah, I think that I understand what you're saying now. I think that people are getting caught up in the phrase 'logical construct', since science doesn't (obviously) demonstrate logical relationships, only empirical ones. Let me know if this is accurate. Science 'works' means that science's methodology produces conclusions of a certain kind -- namely, conclusions that're consistent with each other and with other agreed upon nor
Both are logical constructs. Both are entirely definitional. You may be considering their applications rather than just what they are. But, are you going to continue your point and claim that the socratic method doesn't work eihter? What then is your definition of 'work'? Perhaps that term is a bit too nebulous for this discussion.
I am utterly confused now. What exactly do you think the scientific method is anyway? To say that is doesn't work makes absolutely no sense, much in the same way it doesn't make any sense to say that 1 + 1 = 2 doesn't work. To revisit that statement... Now one could argue that some scientists do not apply the SM correctly, but that's hardly the same thing.
Science and mathematics aren't obviously similar. Science is a lot messier than mathematics. It relies on certain premises like "there are observable regularities" or "theories can be tested in isolation". There are ongoing debates over whether or not belief in these premises is justified. These debates are complex, and I won't try to convince you one way or the other. Regardless, most scientists aren't attentive to

In particular for the AI to do this simple check. Then again maybe gay marriage is supposed to be in the game, I
However the main group of people that want multiplayer are not interested in a game that is specifically for MP. There is a reason the Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic MP community (specifically PBEM) has been growing over the last couple of years... prior to its re-release through digital media when it cost
No. If I want to play something MP, I will pick something specifically designed for MP. I piss off many of my academic friends when I say things like this, but science is every bit as faith-based as Roman Catholicism. It's just the objects of faith that are different. In theistic systems, gods & other mystical beings are objects of faith. In science, we put our faith in the overall goodwill of the research community and our pe
Yep, good news if it actually comes to pass. Though really comparisons to Wheel of Time are misplaced. Wheel of time is an endless muddle of largely uninteresting characters who just bump around waiting for some reason for all of them to wind up back together for the final battle (assuming it ever comes). Fire and Ice is a better paced muddle of more interesting characters (from their diversity of motivations and situations) who actually lea

Yeah, the translation was not good, but not so bad as to really hinder my enjoyment of the game. What hindered my enjoyment was the dull repetitiveness of the game. Peak oil is a joke though. Hell according so many doomsayers we should already be out of oil! (2010 was the magic year for them in the 90s). Amazing what technology can do isn't it? Not to say that I think we should continue along the oil economy we have built, but the crying about it is as bad as the GW-alarmists who also said by 2010 New York would be underwater. Brad, have you ever played Sword of the Stars? Game mechanics aside (though some would be fun for elemental), the way the different races are handled in game really makes for markedly different experiences depending on which side you play, and, which sides you play against. And not just in the 'these guys historically don't like those guys' kind of way. Lore is fun, lore is good, but if the only impact lore has on the actual game play is 'th

But I find myself thinking that Fallen Enchantress will be (or has been promised to be) much better so feel like I should wait for that before investing much more time in Elemental. So that makes Elemental less fun to play now. My 2 cents worth.
This has been my issue all along, and the reason why I never got EWoM in the first place. <
Moo2 was not the holy grail, Moo was. Though I agree with adam, DW just didn't have it for me, and though I bailed long before the expansion, I could not get excited to try it again because the first brush just didn't do it for me. Which is odd, because I liked Moo3 (after user patches and mods) and I like the idea of automation and playing at a macro level. DW just wasn't fun or engaging, and the fact that it has those 'low budget' issues d

I still strongly maintain that this game should have simply been as close to a MoM clone as possible using the new engine. Instead we got them trying to break the mold, and apparently trying to do too much, then realizing they couldn't do it all, and so the scraping of systems began, the 'dumbing down' of systems began, and the end result was... well no need to rehash that. Everyone (and yes, literally EVERYONE) would have been ecstatic with a MoM
