As soon as the tools are available I'm going to make a mod in which the player controls a colony of slime monsters defending a dungeon against invading adventurers...
It forces the player to spend more and more effort on the boring, mundane aspects of empire management when all they really want to do is wipe out the few remaining cities of their last opponent. I disagree with you there. Maintenance costs of cities in Civ IV are less of an end-game issue. It works pretty good against the land-grab at the beginning, I think. Building a stable economy before expanding is not mundane.

CIV IV also have a good solution on the limitation of growth. The way that maintenance goes up with more cities means that you have to develop cities to pay for new ones. It is not possible to spread without thinking about consequences. No, I hate this system. It is formally known as negative reinforcement and it accomplishes little more than stretch the game out and cause it to drag on for far longer than it really deserves. It forces t
Wouldn't this work out the same way in the end as a simple atk power or defense increase?
I'm not saying this would apply to all games, but it would certainly apply to a game like Demigod. But Brad was talking about Elemental. And you don't have that kind of problems in a TBS. Turns just take a little longer and if you are fine with that that should be no problem. Maybe there should just be a red flag for slow uploaders in the lobby like they have it with bad ping...
You're forgetting about the tactical
Considering this was on the demigod boards and we all know what that trouble was, I can sympathise with Brad posting that. I doubt we would see any sort of stupid decision to kill sales though. This is primarily a single player game. And the whole question and answer for context
Q: Has there been any progress on the ping-spiking issue detailed here (http://forums.demigodthegame.com/352593). A small portion of the player base (including myse
I don't expect this one aspect of diplomacy to become the entire game. This discussion leads me to believe others think it will.
I just preordered for the first time in my life. I love CIV IV, Master of Orion II and such games. The good ones are few and years apart so I hope this will be one of them.
Well once you are helping with the beta you can help make this one of them.
Quoting Sarudak, reply 27It was specifically mentioned the the sovereign does NOT die of old age. Remember things CHANGE throughout the process of developing a game. Thus, this is probably one that has changed with the advent of children and aging. Thus if the channeler dies his offspring can take over for him and the game continues on an on an on until you take out the whole race, all it's cities and castles and everything.
WHy put the "guy with pickaxe" picture in the kotaku article? *Sigh*
Mario and Zelda entertain me! Although I really enjoy sacrifice. Especially since your mana producing units have a name that's pronounced the same as "Mana whores" LOL Leave it the creators of earthworm jim to create the only RTS-ish game that I enjoy.
I'm expecting a fantasy equivalent of unit animation of this quality level- It is even more doable for this kind of game which is turn based combat in the line of King's Bounty: The Legend. For f*** sake, unbelievable...can't you retards extrapolate on the most basic level?
I'm really trying to play nice with you H. What exactly from tha

Discworlkd is so funny.. Glad he got a lot of that on paper before the alzheimer's starts to rob him of it.

Why are you linking a video about a metroid wannabe?
well since soveriegns are magical I would think that once they know about each other they would have ameans of magical communication. In MoM it was mirrors...
I answered yes to the gender faking. I used a webcam and a nudie mag to accomplish it. Then roundly made fun of the person I was spoofing. This was more than a decade ago, so the low bandwidth available made it much more feasable than it would be now to convince comeone that a still image was another person. This isn't something I would do now as an adult, but in junior high I thought it was hillarious.
Nobody mentioned Jet Grind/Set Radio? Space Channel 5? Nobody mentioned Toejam and Earl either..... I think I must just have an unusual understanding about games that were good solely based on a stylistic feel...
*Picks up the chair* Oh no you didn't say that about my baby daddy!
Two different buildings as the forts are not exactly the same. As I see it it is the same building just from different angles (rotated 180°).
Look more closely.
I wouldn't say that the "Character creation" in MoM was some sort spectacularly deep thing, HOWEVER it is one of the most strategic elements to the game. It is a lot like selecting which cards to put into your magic deck before playing a match.
Did someone already post this? I don't remember if someone else did and I'm not rereading the thread. Since a lot of the discussion is about style, there's some good sections in here about style. Anyway I like reading about c++ from the mouth of the language's author .
might be able to get it to meet size requirments if you shrink it and make it change colors faster...
