Stardock won't do that, nor do they need too. As Frogboy has said many times, and been quite right in saying, they aren't pressed financially like other companies are. They don't need to rush anything to meet someone else's time-frame. Their money comes from other sources. Correct. Though, on the other hand, I'm not going to push the release date back for some wizbang new feature that could just as easily be added post-
If you want to make a Dragonlance world, which by necessity will rely fairly heavily on flying, you could do a simple kludge - we know there are islands, therefore there is water. Islands pose no challenge to an AI if the water is trivial to cross, and Frogboy already said that islands are mercilessly slap-boxing his AI at the moment. Do a quick tile convert whereby the water becomes your sky, and design your map and the backstory so
I have less inside info than you do, Raven, but I'll wager that you're being described a difference between overland and combat map flying. A unit that can fly in combat doesn't necessarily get any special flying powers overland, so what it sounded to me like Frogboy was saying was that the armies (the amalgamated forces overland) won't fly (ie have the ridiculous mobility that comes from flying in games like MoM), but individual uni

Too many have shipped obviously unfinished products then obfuscated as to why they did so, when it was pretty obvious why.
Completely agreed. Also though, I think the trend of "Digital Distribution + On-line "Patching" has given some developers the Excuse, the Reason, and the Technology, to fix a product "post release" knowing they are shippin
Haha I see where you're coming from but to know that that tension will be released by one little blob of 5 troops jogging over to poke one of the other little blobs instead of all one hundred of those guys charging at each other at once is a bit disappointing. I mean, look at how epic that battle against the dragon looks.
True. I can't say I disagree. I don't want to pop open the debate of "real time vs t
A very good point you make, Frogboy. Without a smart and challenging AI all the features, pretty graphics, editors, modding....None of it means anything if the game can't play as a "game". Take all the time you need with the AI. Bring in help if need be. Push it back till Feb if need be. We'll be here supporting you and Stardock either way. Besides, if you push it back till Feb, just think of all the other cool stuff you can cram into the game between Aug and Feb!!! That's an extra 6
I would think they would technically be a flying army... But then, it doesn't look like there will be very many flying units. The only confirmed ones so far are dragons (well, I assume they will be able to fly) But it sounds like we can't build any of the units that can fly, so there won't be a lot of them. I mean, aren't dragons supposed to be incredibly rare, like you go 20 games without seeing one? Unless there is some really common flyin
Two questions: 1) Do you think eventually we will be able to mod flying armies into the game, so a MoM mod would be viable? 2) Do you think a customization tab would help resolve some of the game balance issues? Things like city spam, what happens to the population of a city when you take over, what happens when the sovereign dies, how much micromanagement of food and population is required, etc. could

I found a few games coming out that I'm oddly enough looking forward to greatly. Why is that "odd" you might ask? Well, I normally don't get into FPS type games anymore. Of course there are the classics I loved like Unreal Tourney and Half-life, but as far as shooters go in my eyes they are mostly "played out". Now days they mix genres like FPS/RPG etc etc. Usually just a gimmick that ends up either limiting the shooting aspect or limiting the RPG aspect or in the worst case, both. So
Quoting Wintersong: Haha Yeah, I had noticed about the random map generator (and the Grid, which I like to activate) but as I didn't know about how random generators work or if Elemental will have a specific one for dungeons (walls, doors...), I decided it was good for me to actually investigate about how they work (and work with some code, and not styles, for a change) and try to do one myself. So if I have to implement one of my own for whatever the reason, to be able to do so. And&nbs

Things should cost less Essence and there should be more ways then just leveling up to gain Essence. Fully agree. ... Given that we barely have ways to use essence at all right now, it seems odd to say "definitely needs a re-tooling." I don't have any sense that essence costs need reduction because I don't even know if the latest build
