The Word "depressing" does not give with due credit just how BAD MOO3 turned out it was Terraboffle! Haha tell me about it! Sadly I played it for far too long trying to convince myself that I was enjoying it.
You know what's really sad? I actually Did like MoO3 except for the tiny, itsy-bitsy, (break out yer f'kin microscopes kiddies) space ships...
I would be very surprised if the reviews of Elemental are negative. Very surprised. Elemental is, by far, the best game Stardock has ever produced. That doesn't mean it's perfect or doesn't have its share of rough edges. But it is, imo, the best game we've ever made.
Bribe Money in action folks...LoL J/K chief :P
Quoting Raven X, reply 8 Also agreed. Especially since I'll have those sweet sweet modding tools in my hands so I can work on modding while waiting for the 0-day patch. Not to burst your bubble but I'm pretty sure that mod tools aren't available until the 0-day patch--its one of the reasons listed as to why anyone would want to be sure to update. Either way, the game (and the mod to
How long do you figure it will be before someone Mods in the Wizards from MoM into Elemental or makes "Elemental Versions" of them? I'll probably do it just for fun at some point or to give myself some cooler enemies to fight. It might even be kinda funny if someone used all the old school character pics for when you choose your Sov.
I do think that they could have balanced AI players a little... and maybe they did, although I doubt it based on the recent stories. The AI players start married to what I believe is a randomly generated NPC spouse. I've never seen any unique text, classes, or abilities for an enemy's spouse... they are always the same. They also usually have children within 20-30 turns. The same goes for minor civilizations. It's a small oversight but I do
Just checked the forum (don't go there much since it changed colour - yuk!) and got the thread about the street date being broken. I'm a bit busy today (with girlfirend type thingies) so a Monday evening download would have been convenient. I know it's sad, but the GF comes first, gaming second...
Ahh, ok, nm, I guess you found the link I just posted. Definitely agree, gotta get sexed up by the GF bef
Strange, this e-mail just arrived: Stardock?s much anticipated PC strategy game, Elemental: War of Magic arrives August 24th. But for users who pre-order it, you will be able to begin downloading it a day early on August 23rd! I'll keep watching Impulse then, though I expect the servers to be a bit busy.
Yeap, but it's wrong. The street date for release was broke. Frogboy said it himself that al
Elemental isn't due until the 23rd for beta testers, 24th for everyone else. It is definitely the 22nd today I will be downloading, but not until tomorrow...
They're giving us access today, Fuzzy, today on Sunday the 22nd. It's been said in the "actual" Elemental forums.
Yeah! Awesome idea! It strokes the ego too, since you'd be able to not only name cities after yourself, but mountains as well. Heck, you could even name a coastline after your wife or children if you wanted.
I name cities after myself all the time :) Also many of the characters in my game are named after me and my wife.
But the game isn't specifically designed to support it. But it is, since all the required resources needed for solo adventuring (gold, research, spell research) can be acquired without building a single city.
The Sovereigns have magical pockets of holding for carrying around all that gold and research materials :). Hey look here comes the Sovereign and he's got an iron mine in his pocket!!!
Plus the A.I I agree with this, why else would he have had the A.I notes on the latest report if he wasn't still working on the 0day update? Hopefully we get a version that is between gold and 0day update today (Sunday), then get the full update on Tuesday. But either way i don't mind, after waiting all this time for release, a couple days for the update is nothing.
Also agreed. Especially since I'll have those swee
Some of the comments on that page are...dissheartening. Here's an interesting quote...Don't shoot the messenger here guys, I'm just quoting what I'm seeing: " snits on August 22nd 2010 2:49am Whatever happened to we shall ship no game before it's time. Between this
Yeah, and I can't wait to get my hands on it! In short? If you end up liking my work, you can bundle it in with your mod with proper credit and my permission.
That's all I was going for ;) That and I thought you'd like to get your Mod out to as many players as possible. I meant no offense or to try to "Draft" you, my friend.
I really hope they straighten this out. If not, well, that's why we Mod in XML ;) MY created sovereign will be just as powerful as those pukes will be :) [e digicons]}:)[/e]
I like it, I like it a lot. :)
How about a Sunday afternoon release? This way you don't have to keep the IT folks up , and it's not like it's football season yet. I'm definitely taking the laptop home tonight now. IF you do a evening release, about what time would it be? I have to go in to work at 10pm, and my guess is at home it will take 1 hr to download. I don't want to DL at work.
I'm betting if they don't get it
Updated 8/22/2010 In Celebration of Elemental's Release Tomorrow I went ahead and did the update tonight. I'm going to be burried in the game and modding for a while and I imagine this section of the forums is going to get quite busy. :)
I thought we were getting it Sunday or Monday anyway...how is this different? And I guess this means Beta testers are those who've been in the Beta program for some time (like for years maybe?) whereas we are the preorder folk? Even though I did preorder AND participate in the Beta (starting with Beta 2 I believe).
If you played any "Beta Version" at Any Time you are considered a "Beta Tester" and will have access tomorrow wi
In a Civ game you are prevented from zooming in close enough. I just like being able to zoom in (personal preference) even if it shows the textures in a poor light.
When I'm watching spells being cast and things being hit I'm a "Zoomed In" gamer too. I do pull the view out when I need to see the whole battlefield though for moving my units around. I don't see where the textures look bad really.
frogboy & stardockers, a suggestion that might help with the identification & prevention of early releases could be to ask beta testers to checkout and educate their local game stores, and the reward could be that those that help with this could get the game a day or two earlier OR a upgrade eg from download only to box and download or boxed to collectors/limited edition. harpo
Stardock
There is an "Effects Editor" with Elemental, so, you should have more or less everything you need to do this right from the start. Good luck :). That's very inspiring btw, so, I tell you what. If this turns out good and I think it looks "kick ass" then you can consider it to be a official part of the "Dragonlance Mod" if you'd like. But it has to be top of the line ;) Dragonlance deserves nothing less.
I've had this preordered, and have been waiting, for a year and a half now. You shoulda' pre-ordered earlier!
This time we were prepared for that possibility. Hence having an update ready to go and having the MP servers DOWN prior to general availability.
Is sueing them even a possibility or are you guys going to have to just "let it slide"? It's really not right if you can't do anything at all about it and just have to take it.
