Actually...you use it at OTHERS' risk....and that is NOT acceptable.
I'm going to have to argue there, it's circumstantial, just as anything else that's dangerous to do. When a person is under the influence of drugs or alcohol they only endanger others if they go out and be around others. If I sit here in the privacy of my own home and smoke a joint and play some video games, I'm not hurting any other person be

That's really great work, Murteas :). Well done brother, keep it up!!!
Yes, the file paths have changed a bit. Also, make sure you have the "Use Mods" tab checked in the Options Screen.
Quoting AngeloBraz, reply 104 The patch was pirated too. I guess even the updates aren't the supposed "DRM"... Meanwhile, I have no info about my limited edition pre-order. Is it being processed? Already dispached? Track order number? There's absolutely no feedback. Neither in my impulse account or by email... Man
You make some excellent points, isn't it a shame hardly anyone reads the last post on an old thread page?[/shameless self promotion]
LoL
*bump* Just so the devs see it when they wake up and get into work ;)
Wait, are you telling me that you hadn't noticed (used) the Stardock logo/button yet? Even knowing that you were to get a mention??? (Hmm So you have connections, huh?) Bad Raven, bad!
LoL no, no connections here. I've been too busy Modding and doing custom artwork and good stuff like that for the last night to look ;) . I didn't know pressing the Stardock logo would start the credits, oops..hehe. (Thanks again t
It doesn't matter what the publishers do. Pirating is part a cultural problem. The only thing the publishers can do at this point is make things worse and push some customers into pirating who normally wouldn't which is what pretty much all DRM measures tend to do. The other group, well some of them don't even realize what they are doing is stealing. I talked to a young man the other day, one of my cousins, who talked excitedly about how
I got a PM on the forums tonight from PsycoCaptain telling me I should watch the credits and that to do so I should click on the Stardock Icon in the lower right hand corner of the main menu. Boogiebac had told me a little over a month ago I would get a mention. What I expected was a list of a couple hundred people honestly. I expected little tiny print. What we got was a list of 12 people from the forums. I would never lessen anyone's contributions to the game. Many of us, hundreds of u
Well, without the python coding in yet it's going to be difficult to do some of the more ambitious things, and I want to hold off getting deep into tile creation without the giant tile art pack that's coming, but I think what I'll do instead for now is make some miscellaneous mods while I plumb the depths of the XML. Perhaps a custom faction? Yes, that'll be a good start.
That's exactly what Folcik and I were talking about
Very cool :). Quick Question. If I make a new Extra Large map, I.E. I lay out the continent myself, how would I go about adding the "Seeds" in XML so I can make that map selectable at the beginning of a single player game and have the game randomly seed it for me? I'm not particularly worried about balance right now, just getting a custom huge map to show in a single player game with random seeding. We covered part of this in our talk on making Huge Maps before but I was making a blank then t
In a theoreticle sense we got half of it already, so that would make if half as good as people expect :P..LoL. That's just from a "content count" perspective. I'm quite sure the patch will address a lot of bug issues. Don't think anyone has anything to be worried about. It'll be good.
Quoting KellenDunk, reply 35 The way to even it up between stacks and champions in my mind is to simply not have stacks gain more defense, they're already getting the HPs stacking, no reason to let their defense stack as well. THIS!!! Indeed, I understand, why attack is higher (10 swords is better than one), why health is greater (10 units have more health), but defense should not stack! The d
Might be a conflict between the Game's resolution and your resident Desktop Resolution as well. You can also try setting your desktop resolution to whatever you run the game in, or try running the game in "Windowed" mode.
Quoting zampolit, reply 18 Actually just use the master of magic platform and make it multiplayer! Don't even change the mechanics! Just a graphics overhaul...BOOM massive great game with a huge customer base. Don't put any "programmer expression" into it. Make the cities, units, and spells work EXACTLY the same! Stardock would get sued for Copyright infringement.<b
Elemental: War of Magic (PC) What Is It? Fantasy strategy game from the makers of Sins of a Solar Empire
You'd think the people over at Kotaku would be Smart Enough to know that Stardock didn't Make Sins of a Solar Empire, Ironclad Games Made it, Stardock Published it. I expect normal consumers to get info like this wrong on occasion, but a so called " Professional " review site? Who does their fact checking, a bunch of trai
Pirates don't matter (even if some companies get paranoid about them). We, paying customers, do. They trust us to uphold the EULA, of being our own "DRM" (single player wise... I'm supposed not to talk about multiplayer), instead of forcing some kind of anti-costumer method on our game (license).
I agree Wintersong, they don't matter. I only brought it up because I know Jafo and a few others like to actually track these guys
Actually it was probably leaked by someone who works at a retail store.
Hmm, yeah, I didn't think about them. Forgot completely about the store option actually. Good pointing that out.
Let them be, Stardock's antipiracy method is the best I have seen. Sure, they can pirate it (I have downloaded games like that before, I will admit that) but Stardock games leave you without updates which add so much. I applaud Stardock just for thinking of a way to make people WANT to buy instead of pirating, hence my adoration to them now. I have three games of their games, all official, and it was so well worth it.

No the old enchanter is a quest you get, you have to bring 3 midnightstones to his hut, which is a map tile (not a NPC). Problem is when you go there with 3 midnight stones, he doesn't do anything, just tells you to bring 3 midnight stones again.
Did you check your inventory to see if the stones you have are gone? Maybe he took them and he needs more. I haven't gotten to the quest yet as I've been busy modding and
Well, someone leaked Elemental. How messed up is that? Less than a day after " Early " Release. [image removed] Tell me you guys slipped in some kind of tag or hidden number somewhere so you can track who leaked it. It being pirated so FAST leads me to think the leak HAD to come from someone who is or was in the Beta. Only the Beta testers and earliest of pre-orders got access to the game last night, plus that one dude who made the YouTube video of getting it early. Hop
Just TRY and do it yourself, please.
While that flies for people like you and me, most of the mass gaming population gets scared by even looking at something that resembles "Code", even something as simple as XML. Granted there are more and more "older gamers" these days, there's still a LARGE chunk of the gaming population that are kids who are easily deterred when looking at modding. Some people even think that you need to
