So I've checking out the upcoming DCUO and today I signed up for the beta. At first I wasn't excited about it at all because I figured it would be just like every other MMO out there and more or less a DC version of City of Heroes and control like WoW like every other MMO out there. Today I watched some of the Dev interviews and found out you actually get to move around and dodge and stuff during combat, meaning actual player skill is involved. If someone were to, lets say, throw a car at you
There is next to no control over graphic functions within the game. That makes it "ok" port in my book. A half of their tool tips are thrown in there too, some don't even report the correct button for the action they're describing. I see a lot of places this feels rushed, but by and large it performs pretty well. It's not a flawless port by any imagination though.
I can kinda see your point on the graphic functions. You can chan

It's labeled as a Value. I think it abstracts or multiplies some of the values though. If you look a little further down that same XML and find the Level 5 Castle, it doesn't even give a max population value. Instead it's like this: (Note: I'm taking out all of it but the popul
Is there a particular controller you have in mind for using? Actually, I haven't picked one up, but will be doing so shortly. I was leaning towards the 360 joystick anyway, so good stuff. Just curious if it was a game that would be fun on pc without a joystick. Thanks!
No prob brother. I highly recommend the wired X-Box360 controller for PC games, even if you don't own a X-Box. I find

Among those bothered by Kotick's talk was former Bungie executive vice president, and current president of Atomic Games, Peter Tamte. He sent Kotaku this Letter to the Editor which, as
the controls are good Are you using a joystick or just keyboard and mouse? If joystiq - what? Thanks!
I'm using one of the standard wired X-Box360 controllers. When you get to the part where you're riding the Gryphon though I'd say use the mouse and keyboard because that part is more like a on-rails shooter and it's easier to aim with the mouse. I'm sure you can use other controllers as well

I was going to write a review on Mafia 2 but I've been too busy since I finished it a few weeks ago, maybe a week and a half ago. It was an awesome game, really, really awesome. The production values were just, incredible....jaw dropping honestly. The level of detail in the world is something every develope
Kingdom is definately 1250, it is the only one I play as. (I only found one thousand through captured cities)
Ahh, that could have very well been the AI then. I thought I saw a mention somewhere of the AI getting wierd and not building up to level 5 cities. That might have been for the minor factions though, I can't remember. Maybe they up'd them both on the latest patch?
I'm sure. Is your custom faction using kingdom city hubs by anychance?
Nada, Empire tech tree and buildings. I did the base faction through the Workshop's faction creator.
They must have raised it, it was 1000 when in 1.07 (or was it 1.06?). I have not played long enough since 1.08 to find out.
No biggie. It's not like it was a big numerical difference anyway. In the big picture 250 isn't going to be a whole lot (hopefully). This is off memory so maybe Kingdom and Empire are the same at level 4 and I'm just misremembering.

Quoting Gyb, reply 169 You are f

Anyways, in my mod so far, I'm trying to have, for example, Elf units go in a 1 / 2 / 5 / 25 unit s

It should be a strategic choice to do so. The problem with the organized talent was that it made the mega army strategy the best one by far. in GalCiv, we limited fleet size based on the player's logistics ability. The idea was that the player had to make a strategic choice as to
After seeing Frogboy's latest Dev Journal I guess it's ok to talk about this a little. I had a conversation with Frogboy and Boogie yesterday and after hearing about some of the upcoming changes to tactical combat they have in mind and are working on, I can now say I believe that when we see what they have in store for us battles will look a Lot More like what we have in the picture on the side of the box :) . Damn that's messed up. The worst part is that yet again, Video Games are going to be blamed and take a hit because this bitch was nuts. I'm sure this will be just another excuse to add to the pile if the day ever comes that laws are made against video games being "too in-depth" and "engrossing". I also can't stand people who are cruel to animals (not counting food animals). Those poor dogs didn't deserve that....neither did the kids. While I feel sorry for the womans loss, I h

So a buddy of mine was given the PC Port of Darksiders a few days ago and the person who got it for him didn't know he already had it on X-Box so he in turn gave it to me. I just installed it this morning and I've been playing it for about an hour (I have it minimized while I'm typing this in fact). For once this is a PC Port over that is pretty good. I didn't get a chance to play it for the X-Box so I couldn't tell you how it performed there, but on my PC here it runs great. No slow down, no
I can't stand Kotick. Assclowns like him are the reason why gaming has turned into big business where putting out sub-standard shit to rake in fast cash is acceptable. He's actually proud of the fact that he took the "Fun" out of making games. He's a one man version of EA and people like him are killing gaming with their rush to bring in the big bucks. I'd laugh my ass off if the market crashed and he lost everything and had to live in a box on the street eating out of a dumpster behind McDon

Thing is, computers are so powerful now that there are prgrams that synthesize (or play a recorded sample) sounds, and sound real (the real good ones anyways). I do some music production myself, and I work with midi on a constant basis (because I only own a guitar).
I play guitar too man, been playing since I was 13. That's good stu
