That's awesome stuff. How much would that set you back in Dollars? I'm horrible at conversion rates. I take it you play a TON of driving games? It says it supports joysticks too so I'd use it for a flight sim or a mech game. Still, that's a killer set-up.

A Organic road structure is nice and makes sense, but, are people really willing to give up control of manually placing roads? I know I for one would very much like to decide where my roads are placed. I'm sure we've all seen cases where the AI will make bad decisions placing roads taking the long way around a mountain or lake where there was a obviously faster way. Also, what about making roads to improvements that lay outside of town? I would want a road running from my town to the largest
Even "Feeling pretty confident about the date" , people should understand and expect a month or so in either direction, early or late. The other thing to keep in mind is there is a TON of balancing that needs to be done. Of course the final word on what's "balanced" and what isn't falls to the SD team, but conceivably there will be some things that could be argued well into infinity at which point the game would never come out. It will be up to the Dev team to ultimately say "enough i

If this is because of the beta restrictions, please feel free to tell us... we can handle it. Also, while this radius thing is definately an improvement, I still forsee problems with hard-maxing out cities with no apparent reason. Have to go to school right now.... more c

Your ideas will be added when I do my next update, no fear ;) . The next update will be this weekend most likely as I want to give people some time for the flood of ideas that will come after the launch of the next Beta tomorrow. Then I'll add them all at once.
If improvements will be allowed outside of the city it would make sense to have roads be build-able to them as well, not just from city to city. To start building a road, click on the city where you'd like to start the road, then you draw in tile by tile where you want the road to be. Each tile has a certain cost in materials and time which could be accumulative the longer you make the road. Workers will rush out from the town to make the road and when finished will go back to the tow
That's a whole lot of additions. I can't wait to jump into the meat of the early mechanics and start coming up with ideas to fine tune them.

[quote quoting="post"]As part of unit design, will we be able to give units special abilities in addition to equipment? Examples: Cause Fear; Inspire other units; Resist Magic; Flight; Regenerate; etc. Certainly it would take longer, but this seems like a good way to make variety in the units. It could require an item to do this, or maybe be part of the research tree? Again, if it could be part of Unit design, it would vastly increase the variety of units if you c

I think the "Concept" Frogboy is getting at is that Necromancy can be used for a lot of things. If you follow D&D, certain types of Healing Spells are Classified under "Necromancy". This would mean that a Holy Cleric of good was using Necromancy. When most people think "Necromancy" or "Necromancer" they usually assume it's something or someone evil, which is simply not the actual case. It's a stereotype. Following that same concept for Elemental, Death Magic is nothing more then a

Instead of just telling you who won or how many points of damage were done the battle was broken down int

Have to say I agree. Without ways to defend against those ultimate spells the late game will be all about who can get mana and cast the fastest. The first person to lay the smack down destroys everything/everyone and wins. If we look back on MoM there was a way for one player to "Dispel" another's Global Enchantment. I want to say the same thing could be done during combat if you had the mana. What the player would do is spend a equal amount of mana to what was used casting the spell

By spending you essence and breathing new life into it (or twisting it) you make it livable for your people and a city can now be placed there. Cities also radiate this healing (or twisting) power, so as the game progresses you see the world come to life (or, again, twist) to your will. This

Here's a thought Boogie. The quote isn't working so here it is directly: "4. Not really solved, in fact this approach favors large cities. Maybe my idea and the governor idea could be merged, and this would be the area where needing governor's would really help. In fact, it will also factor into balancing between problem #2 and problem #3 as well. So the governors should still definitely be in, imho."
