Why the decision to drop Wraiths and Magnars? Though I suppose that since the humans aren't too different, it'd be strange if the Fallen were.
It's true you don't see them on the Tree, but you also don't see a few other "Fallen Races" on the Tree. I hope those Races aren't being taken out. I perticularly liked both the Magnar and the Wraith.

Something Frogboy says in his post " Elemental: How game mechanics evolve (long) " , where he says... "You might play 200 games and suddenly get a quest that gives you the plans to build a diamond golem – provided that you find the star diamond located on some distant island (you get the idea)." ...this m
I honestly don't see why it couldn't make the cut into the final version. Don't dumb down your vision because some people might be too stupid to see the same thing you do. Complexity and Diversity are good things. Also you could just add that picture of the Racial Tree in the manual and everyone would understand ;) Also, Darkodinplus has a good question there.
You completely misunderstood what i was saying. I have heard of cloud saves. I know what they are and how they work. Here is the difference though, you have some publishers mentioning cloud saves a service, as an option, as something that allows you to save to your own box and to their server, aka locally and externally, the benefit being a new box, no problem, no transfers, just grab it from your account. then you have Ubisoft cloud saves onl

However, I disagree with a flat-monthly fee being the most logical standard adopted - from a cost/profit point of view, it doesn't make sense. What will makes the most sense is a Pay by Usage servic
I think it'll happen faster than that - games that don't make enough money will be cut as soon as possible due to the ongoing cost of having them provided on which ever service. EA Games recently closed down multiplayer servers for a slew of games, claiming costs for running them were too high. These are multiplayer servers who do little more than sheppard information. Imagine the cost of processing the game for your cu
I rare agreement from me as well. Let's not forget, piracy isn't just external. How do you think movies and albums and games wind up hitting the public before they are even released. There doesn't seem to be a lot of love between employers and employees in the game industry, especially if success means long hours to layoff. There are leaks in the system, and when there is a leak, that copy gets pirated and hacked... this is not goin
You're entering dangerous territory here. Using 'Cloud' gaming as a method of DRM, and believe me it's being discussed somewhere, forces players to pay a subscription fee for their games - and if its DRM that means its mandatory - there will be no boxed version, otherwise us filthly pirates would be able to pirate it. This isn't just the removal of the retail market, like Digital Distribution, this is the ability to put a pric

Sounds awesome. Two small things though. 1) Maybe it's the "Highlander" fan in me, but I think Curgen should be spelled with a "K". "Kurgen the Dred’nir" just looks cooler to me then "Curgen the Dred’nir". 2) "In the aftermath of the cataclysm, nearly all life on Elemental perished." , calling the Planet/World "Elemental" doesn't sound good. It sounds extremely generic. Calling the Game Elemental makes sense, calling the world the Game takes place on Elemental
Another way to look at it - say your average gamer spends $100 a year on gaming, $50 of that on games and $50 on hardware. If this is a big success then they now need to spend only $10 on hardware, and so can afford to spend much more on games, meaning they might now spend $75 on games.
It could also go the opposite way. Here's the current payment plan's for OnLive and how it will be at launch. Look at this and tell me what you see.

Friendlier companies can make "friendlier" cloud systems where you don't get screwed by DRM or other useless demands/functionality and such. I was under the impression that if I conquer a city that is populated by a different race they still become part of my Empire. Then if I draft troops in that city they would come from that cities population. This would make armies made up of various races, right? Excellent post Btw.

Awesome stuff, it's definitely a impressive map maker. Though, not to knock your map making skills, but the map you made doesn't quite have the shape of the Exodus map you show. The shape of the cove on the left of the map is wrong, as is the shape of the peninsula and islands on the right hand side. It's a nice try though. I'm just being picky :P
