Perhaps I'm too much of a humanist, as I was trying to rationalize my opinion with words, experiences and assumptions instead of hard data. I tried to explain why I felt it was a bad idea, but I obviously failed. Essentially I don't like the idea, because I feel that those who do not trade the parts for the stuff, will never be able to enjoy them. And enjoyment is the main thing the game is about, I think. If getting the parts is so unlikely that y
Ravenx suggested some interesting things on this subject in this threads doppleganger thread. Raven X More MoM, less Civ. Don't get me wrong, Civ games are great and they do have their "strengths", in my opinion though, "Variety" isn't one of those strengths. Neither is their horrid combat model but this isn't about that. The Races should mean something, just as they do in MoO2 and MoO3 and countless other Fantasy/Sci Fi game
3. Does that mean to start a game, exit that game, and start another game and have it run without exiting the Program? It sounds like that's what that means.
The best thing about the Elemental Beta so far has been the actual interaction within the community and between us and the Devs. Since joining the Beta I've made some pretty cool friends, both other players and friends who happen to work for Stardock. Also, having done professional beta testing before and having worked in the industry, I can say that what I've seen Stardock do here has been a truly unique and beneficial thing to the gaming community as a whole. By showing that they ha

(Meaning, what Stardock needs to identify the problem, and what tag I should put it under in the Forums. I'd assume [Crash], but even if I'm right, like I said, I don't know what data you guys need out of me to get it fixed.)
Go Here my friend. All you'll need to know and how to d

There really isn't any AI yet (I haven't written any code yet). The way the AI is developed is that I specify a series of APIs that the AI will need access to (example AIFindNearestEnemyUnit() ).
The short answer is: We don't know yet how the different races will be handled when you capture cities. We've gone back and forth internally on the topic. Ultimately, it will boil down to what makes the game the most fun for the widest number of people -- and what we ourselves like. That said, I agree in principle with what Raven has said. I'm just not going to promise anything.
No promises needed

Thanks for the explanation, Kryo. This kinda thing happens when programs go through updates most of the time anyway. Still good to know for sure that was it. :)
Dragonlance Mod FTW baby!!! I really hope they add some kind of "Dragon-Man" creature to the game so I don't have to make a new model for Draconians, but if need be I will (or I'll find someone to do it with me). The Frog Faction sounds cool, IMO though I'd go with a more serious name then the "Empire of Ribbit". That's just me though.
Just curious if anyone got invited, I preordered this back on the 16th and if the new beta came out then I'm wondering if a select few were allowed in, none at all, or what. Neither is their horrid combat model but this isn't about that. The Races should mean something, just as they do in MoO2 and MoO3 and countless other Fantasy/Sci Fi games. As said above in numerous replies, Races need to Mean something. As such, in a game with multiple races, you have to be prepared to deal with the consequences of Mixin
I just updated the mini update they released after 1z. When I started my new game my created Sovereign was gone, my saved created race was gone, and all my game options had reset. It's not a big deal, just thought I'd throw it out there so people knew what to expect. I didn't put this in the Beta Bug section because I don't really think it's a "Bug" exactly. Just one of those things that happens when you update things sometimes.
Luckily, in my opinion, there isn't a whole lot more to do to make the game ready for Beta 2.
Well, to answer that fully you have to look at what their goals are for Beta 1. To get the foundations of basic gameplay mechanics. To make sure it's stable and running on as wide a range of systems as possible, and to make sure it just plain works. For a "Game Mechanics" perspective, with what they wanted to accomplish wi

That said SC2 was under my radar until then. I'm not a SC2 hater, but yeah, I can see where people would think it's a step backwards. The strategy of choice in SC2 is ACU rushes. The game maps are so small and teching up is so fast it makes this possible. Try an ACU rush in SC/FA on one of those huge map
