[quote who="Xylan" reply="8" id="1975697"]I've never been a hangar fan personally. They use up 4-6 tac slots depending on your faction. I always do 2 repair bays, and make the rest nothing but turrets. They're cheap to build, create ALOT of targets for the AI to hit, and 25 turrets all clumped in a tight little area can wreak havoc on any fleet. (As long as it's a computer player). I can easily defend any planet, including asteroids and dead asteroids using this
something that would make it easier: Hyperion's Gates, but if you pick which three AIs are active, you can make all of them in the other system, so they kill each other first :). you can set them on unfair, and it will be just like going against one. just make sure you colonize your system very quickly.
actually, its AOE - gravity warhead hits one ship, and all of the ones around it can't jump (because of the gravity) the reason its a one ship target is because it's a WARHEAD! it hits ONE ship, but the AOE is plenty large enough. another defensive option as Vasari - Gravity warhead, and phase inhib. that fleet is going nowhere. :) when attacking, my main strat as Vasari is to max my fleet (in a hard game, this happens pretty often, esp w/ RA) using RA, w
Vasari </div
or a planetary ability that remotely builds/calls it in?( since by the time you've built it, the battle would probably be over)
my opinion on the central thing: The Starbase has multiple modes of operation it can use (all of which have the guns active); 1) phase gate mode; 2)high-power mode [essentially a sooped up version of the Kortul Devastator's Power surge]; 3) nanite mode [repairing and destructive are depoyed]; 4) factory mode; 5) travel mode. each of these has a graphic that displays in the central span. the phase gate one - the phase ring; high-power one - the green "electricity"; etc.</p
it is a weird one. my advice: check that hidden files are shown (setting). if they are and you still can't see it, pop in the folder name (...local settings/application data/ironclad games/sins of a solar empire/screenshot/) into the address bar. that should bring you straight to the folder where it is saved. (the address bar is on "explore", not an open file box. you can get to this by hitting the "My computer" icon on your desktop/start menu)
I have a quick list of ship classifications, individual ships, characters, etc. that I can post if anyone wants it.

against AI: two repair bays, next to each other, one/two hangars, all fighters, and a V shape of super dense missile platforms (maybe a phase jump inhibiter if I've go the tac slots). the hangar bays would be to the side of the planet, and there would be enough space for a small fleet between the missile platforms and the repair bays. the reason for this is that the AI will always go straight for any military ship/static defense platform (beam, guass, missile) you have in the

it was already moved, so you've got the right link. I asked a moderator to move it for me.
That opening cinematic stopped working for me when I got V1.1 (maybe v1.11 - I don't remember) now it just skips it (stardock, then Ironclad, then the sins screen)
Mine is a really big, grey sphere. without exhaust ports. and the ORIGINAL superweapon. all slaved to my heads-up display on my fighter. my fighter: modified Mark VII Viper, with larger engines, stronger kinetic energy weapons, and three nuclear/ conventional missile hardpoints under each wing, and reactive shield generator, and a EMP generator (larger engines take up some of the cargo space)
you sure you want every level of my ship?
The viewscreen filled with Vasari ships as one of the fleets jumped in. “Contact! Tags as Vasari Ravisher Fleet,” The sensors officer reported. <p class="
something something Air Force?
The next post is nearly done.
another possibility: build up your fleet to the max at the planet chokepoint just beyond the sun(if there is one, otherwise at the sun), and when they attack, lose, and retreat, follow their fleet and destroy them. guaranteed to give you at least five minutes unmolested (if you two are the only ones)
You see the analogy for TBS games earlier? (Be warned, at the time, I was a bit defensive, so my writing had a angry undertone, but the analogy holds true)
so, I'm hearing both - are the old save games invalid, or not? cuz I've got a like twelve hour one against a hard TEC that I really want to beat.
[quote who="tetleytea" reply="4" id="1973516"] A good RTS game to try: Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings AOE2 is very cookie-cutter. All the decent players have developed & practiced their own sub-3-minute build orders to tech up early and go from there. In that regard, AOE2 is really no better than a TBS except you have to rehearse the build order over and over again. This is a good example of how it really is more about the individual gam
no, planning out the grand strategy for the entire armed forces for the course of a war is a job for utter morons who don't believe the time proven truth that no plan survives first contact with the enemy. Thinking on your feet is what every true commander does. a grunt does no thinking at all - they only do what they are ordered to, no more, no less. TBS="lazy idiot who can't take the heat of a real game" that was for calling us Sinners "grunts".
