I personally am a Vasari player. they have a decent long-term advantage over the other races (phase missiles against Vasari, kostura cannon can decimate garrisoned enemy fleets by essentially ion bolting them all, and the Returning Armada ability will almost guarantee you a decent sized if not maxed fleet continuously til the end, once you have it. a fully researched Vasari fleet is quite a force to be reckoned with.

As for WWII, the allies already had the tech and knew how to refit the factories to make war material, so it was a fairly fast transition. their submarines even were about even with the U-boats once the Gato class was comissioned. and they had the nice SJ radar, which U-boats did not. as the early torps were riddled with faults, they were pretty much dead weight, though. the main problem though was a too heavy firing pin and bad depth adjusters (it would go up and down
Flank attacks do have an effect. Check the ship specs and you'll notice weapons banks for sides, front and back. Also knowing what can fire on the move and what can't, it's very beneficial to have a 'fleet' that's actually composed of smaller groups.... starting a thread about the my ideas there soon.
I know that they do, but I was saying that default options for formations would be nic
I know how gravity works. The rubber sheet model has been around forever. But what i'm trying to say is that it's impossible to know the interaction of gravity in one universe on another universe. Think, if gravity could bleed over from other universes, why aren't there massive random gravitic anomlies all over the place as massive objects in other universes cause gravwells. It's too rediculous to say that every universe has the same number of celesti

At one point, it is clearly stated that when Corran jumped into hyperspace the 'stars elongated, then snapped back into points that slowly rotated'. And btw, i don't beleive that any ships have jumped through star destroyers to escape. probably thinking of stargate<br /

well, if you've checked the wiki, then you should know the books it is mentioned in, as well as what books it is actually present in. (It is actually mentioned in a bunch of books - the Katana Fleet, that is - including the Rogue Squadron series, beginning with, you guessed it - Rogue Squadron)
Quoting eoncommander, reply 13 yea. pretty much, any celestial body (i.e. gravity well) distorts the space-time continuum and

actually, I made sure that I only mentioned technology that was used at the beginning of the war. For example, the M-26 Pershing absolutely killed the panzers, and the P-51 Mustang was vastly superior to the BF 109 and was also superior to the Focke-Wulf. It established Allied air superiority as well as the Supermarine Spitfire MkV and MkIX but those were invented after the war started. The B-17 Flying Fortress was also an Allied plane from before the war that was

still, ships have escaped the Imps by hyperspacing through their ships (and surviving unscathed from the jump). I thinik the Millenium Falcon did it at some point. Besides, it actually does say that hyper is a different dimension in the rogue squadron series. also, it is described as a "blue field" through the viewscreen. this would not happen in same-dimension FTL travel, it would just be stars stretched or just a regular view of space - depending on how fast you trav

sure they could. the rebels could do anything with their ships as they didn't technically have a military, but instead had a hodgepodge of ships. thus anyone could alter the hardware or software to the very deepest level. and besides, as a military force, they would want to be able to turn those off just so they don't get pulled out by an Interdictor.
Big issues here; if a fleet is too small, it cannot overcome defenses. If the enemy has 7 hangar defenses, a repair bay, and a few turrets, then you need a fairly good fleet to break through.
actually, you can have ore than one fleet in a gravity well, but it would encourage smaller fleets because of the hassle to move your entire strength at once.

which is also why pirates pulled large asteroids into trade routes and why certain star destroyers could pull ships out of hyper. and the reason that ships were known to hyper into a planet was because they would push through and then be forced out inside the planet or so close to it that they couldn't stop. gravity actually pulls hips out of hyper, otherwise the rebels would just be able to ignore the destroyers by turning off the gravitic sensors.

as for making Sins more fleet focused, (I have posted this suggestion in a couple threads, but I don't think it was really noticed) you could give options on fleet formation, like in Age of Empires II - there are choices in what formation you want (admittedly, only four, but it's still better than one) the collumn would be replaced by the wall, the box replaced by the sphere, flanking groups would be about the same, but you could have them take advantage of the 3-D element by movi

you need a ship with the ability "capture extractor". with the TEC the ship is the colony frigate. for the Advent, it's the missionary vessel. for the Vasari, it is the Jikarta Navigator.

So all you had to do was shoot, die, shoot, die, shoot ..then kill the enemy. Don't get me wrong great game, but if you have no fear of dieing what's the point? It's like quicksaving every two feet, only worst with the enemy hp staying the same.
really? I never
