This is my first game with FE and I'm now in the late game and pretty much just sweeping up all enemies for the endgame. Unfortunately I've reached a turn where the game will just freeze after clicking to end my turn. Clicking on the window shows the Windows loading circle, and if I click again I get the windows "program is not responding" dialog. I've waited up to 10 minutes but FE didn't come back. Here's the debug.err: http

First of all, I want to say great update Derek. Really loving this direction you're going towards.
The shopkeepers of Elemental are the true bad guys of the game, this is true. The gap has been decreased in Beta4, shop prices have been halved but sell prices are the same. Also anywhere you see an items value it is it's sell value (it was confusing to see "Value 200" and only be able to sell it for 20). But that gap will continue to exist. &n
If you have a champion with 6-7 injuries on him he will be severely handicapped, it may be time to hand his equipment over to a promising newcomer without the battle scars.
While I like the realism of this scenario, I would find it annoying that my old experienced and battle hardened veterans might become completely obsolete. What do you think about an ability for champions to "retire" into a city? Simply add an option that when a champion is in a city yo
Yeah, but there's no reason to not be building things. Even if you have all the buildings you want, you always need more soldiers. I like the way this is done. Really cuts down on the mental calculations, allowing the player to focus on a good defensive/wield decision. I also didn't realize each tile was the sum from adjacent tiles rather than its own wield. I was wondering why a city surrounded by tiles with +5+3s was giving me just +5+3 itself.

There is actually a reason not to build in a city. Almost everything you build has maintenance. If you build too much, you will run out of money.

It seems that the magic research tree now encompasses many things, new spells, new quests, recruitment and many more. As such, I think the name is a bit misguiding given the things you find to research in it. I think it would be better to rename it to "Arcane Lore" which would encompass all these things more sensibly. Just a small suggestion.

* When one opens the Hiergamon after playing the tutorial after having skipped a tutorial video in progress, instead of the encyclopedia, you'll get a bugged window and a speech starts playing that sounds like it's continuing the tutorial video you skipped. * The description for the mining research is talking about elite weapons. I think it's been mixed up. * After playing for 3 hours solid, after a load, the game started crawling. It took 10 seconds after the load

I won't lie. I'm very excited about Fallen Enchantress. From what I read, it's shaping to be all the things WoM wasn't which is great :) Tangenial Question: You mention that you're building a new Digital Distribution service for it. I was under the impression that you were going to keep using Impulse however. Does this mean that you've lost faith in Impulse now that Gamestop got it?

Great stuff Frogboy, I can't wait for 1.1 stable. For diplomacy, I'd like to see something that resembles how it was presented in the Song of Fire & Ice, that is, that diplomacy is very much tied to one's progeny in some way which would provide some quite interesting diplomatic and tactics decisions. I would like to see that alliances are tied to marriages of some sort. In order to secure an alliance with another kingdom, one must provide one of their progeny, while the ot
Yep. Increased combat morale would fit charisma really well. Though it shouldn't stack if there are multiple heroes present in the battle, only the highest bonus should apply.
Or maybe morale should have an area of effect, or a unit limit. So that when you have a lot of units or they are too spread out, it would make sense to have more than one hero with them.

This is very exciting stuff. I can't wait for 1.1 now. Something I'd like to mention: One of the issues in games like this where you want to allow heroes to have a non-combat build (in this case: charisma), is that a build, implies experience points, and at this point, the only way we have for XP gain is via combat. To truly allow non-combat builds, we need to have a way to gain levels outside of combat. The obvious candidate is XP from quests. Something to consider.</p

I like the idea of dynasties, but I don't like that they practically play not role at all. I'd like to see them play a strong diplomatic purpose, as they used to do in real medieval past. Have a marriage be a necessity for alliances. I enjoy the city building and the way the sprawl over the landscape I like spells that modify the world. I don't like that at the moment they're so few and not really that useful. I like that you can build your own units a
Licensing an engine wasn't really an option. It's one of the reasons you see fewer and fewer ambitious games from small developers. Even in our case, we spend nearly $100k licensing various techs. If we had licensed an engine the cost would have been $500k to $2M depending on which one and we'd have to license it over and over again.
Aren't there any open source engines like Ogre3d you could use?

Can we get back on the subject instead of making this YAEST (Yet Another "Elemental Sucks" Thread)? Brad, since you're here and you mentioned that Kael is a personal friend I wanted to ask if you asked him to playtest the game so that you can get some external perspective. At this point it seems that one of the biggest problems other than the new engine is that there was some poorly thought design issues that were not pointed out (or pointed out and ignored by t
+ The starting side in a tactical battle is now chosen randomly. The attacker and the defender have an equal chance to go first. This is a short-term change. In the longer term, we are moving to an initiative system ( individual units moving based on their combat speed rather than each side taking a turn together ).
YesssSSSsssssSSS
To say the true I haven't encountered any bug (apart of load bug) and haven't seen any slowdowns
by now I've had one game breaking one (where I actually had to look in the forums on how to work around it) and one disruptive one (requiring me to restart the game every few hours or so). The AI is bad enough that I steamroll everyone if I don't play at max difficulty and let the AI cheat as hell (and I'm not a good Civ player by far).
