Checkdisk ran, all fine now... i think.... thanks for the info about the soft switches on the ckdsk command... for people like me, its so easy to get lost because i can't see the forest because of the individual trees.. yrag, doc, ya'all thank you for helping see whats important in the plethora of details that flood the 'self -help ' sites re malware, sys op, etc... and who says chivalry (the good part!) is dead?
Also, with beta patches, EWoM won't fully load unless/until you establish an Internet connection. However, EWoM without any 'beta' patches will load fine with no Internet connection active. easiest thing is to have Internet off, and load EWoM. If you load from Impulse, currently it will say its 'working in offline mode.' I have no idea what will happen when the 'other' company (gamestop? I think) takes over Impulse...
Hi Yrag.. I ran chkdsk c: /F /R It replied it could not run it because it was in use by another program.. asked if i wanted to run it next time i started up Y/N I typed "Y" I already did a restore, and I have MSE installer on my drive... so i will have to wait 30 days, yes? I really appreciate all your help.. you are the best....
Demo... cool thanks, somehow I missed the demo being available... I was focusing on their decision to stop using impulse as a distribution platform because, while they trust Brad (froggy), they don't trust/agree with/ respect current practices of new owner of impulse.
regarding the brit (and EU) tv versus USA TV: It seems that i prefer Brit versions when I can get them. Generally, (painting with a very big brush here) USA videos that go to Europe have violence reduced (censored?) - while Brit / European videos/media that come to USA have the sex reduced (censored?). Sex or violence... umm, seems a silly choice to me. But the USA choses violence over sex. an
Such pun-isment on the hard-ware. Lord Xia, you just need to get a handle on you USB port! Don't complain how old your PC is - that just isn't PC. (smile). Plan a-head, and know which way your thumb drive needs to be oriented before you insert it into the port.
Doc, you have accurately expressed the essence of the issue. Thank you. (= you rock!)
Star ruler, 1/2 this weekend on impulse. Anyone who has played this have comments. i might get this one....
Superanti spyware runs in the background/ I just wanted it to scan when I told it too. Opps. will try uninstall it. then s system restore secunda was helping me find all the software that had updates ready... with this also conflict with MSE?
Big foot, i already follow what you wrote. I don't have any tool bar addons, and it was by doing what i thought was a freestanding scan with superantivirus spyware that SEEMED to cause the other. i do not think I have more than one anitmalware running at a time. just MSE. The other weird thing, that just happened as i write this is, occasionally, my entire screen goes totally black, just for a second or two. Then relights to exactly wh
Please, don't send the zombies to Washington DC. DC is actually full of smart brains. Look they 'convince' the mass of voters in the US to reelect them while they pass laws that continue to drive the poor even lower, continue to reduce the middle class's assets (and their homes), and at the same time, transfer massive wealth to the richest of 'persons.' The truth is, most of us 'regular' people have become the voting zombies. "Voting zombies"
This morning, Microsoft security essentials sent this message to desktop (XP machine): validate windows to be genuine or MSE will discontinue after 30 days. I have genuine windows, have disk number, etc in box that PC came in. I tried validating, etc. and got many confusing loops, and 'scripts don't run on this page,' yada, yada, yada. MS site not helpful. Is this a scam from a very clever pflisher? I noted a very b
The galCiv remix....
I am running on an older graphis card - and i don't have problems with EWoM. But I generally stick to smaller maps as i hate the city spam. (Same for space games - with colony spam). Its a getforce gfx 590 (Windows XP) - which is under the 6800 required- but does alright..
OZO... I totally agree about morrorwind. I was very involved in the oblivion mod community - as a playtester - not a modder. Only later did i discover Morrowind, and it blows Oblivion right to oblivion. I'm not hopeful about skyrim... but we will see....

Machavilli was a great game to play when a group of friends get together for an afternoon or evening..Great backstabbing!
Wow, GWs is looking so good, I may even try. I generally don't like RTS (warcraft empires, etc) as the clickfest kills my hands.... but gemini wars is looking too good to pass up.
The mainstream media is now owned by corporate concerns (in the USA). Try BBC, try searching on Internet for newspapers in Bonn, Paris, London, Riyadh, Baharian, Bejing (whatever...) Re: USA. Did you know that the state of Oregon did something very different that any of the other states, and the Fed Govt? The feds, and most states are cutting payrolls, throwing people out of work, and demanding 20% pay cuts to unionized workers. The stat
i found perehelion for free on the web - however, it plays on an 'amiga' computer. DOes that mean it wont play on current windows PCS?

Have fun. I liked seeing those OLD OLD films about how they told kids to go underneath their desk or fall to the ground while out side in a Nuclear war.. <

Yes, we're burning through fossil fuels irresponsibly and it will eventually run out. Many of you will be happy to know that we already have tons of alternatives for energy when it comes to automobiles. Just recently, a synthetic oil was made by a professor in oxford that has zero emissions and won't cos
April 7, 2011 5:43:58 PM from Elemental Forums Some of you may have noticed I've not been so active on the forums. Some of you may even be glad for it. Here's my explanation: I bought Shogun 2 the day it came out and couldn't get enough of it. Then I made the mistake of trying out Minecraft. Paid the $20ish, and now I can't stop. Seriously. I need help. I'm halfway done building a wall around a medium sized island that will even
