wiskey144 you are presenting an ad homonim argument which is, by definition, a logical falacy. Truth is truth, no matter WHO states it. False is false, no matter who states it. The fact that a person does not totally, 100% ACT according the the truth they espouse does NOT invalidate what they state. Neither does someones heroic, super moral, or popular lifestyle / committment to "truth, justice, and the American Way..." necessirally make all they

DsRider, I agree with your statements about how groups with an advantage over other groups will 'crowd' them out, and you are accurate that its been done for as long as history has been recorded among humans. And yes, the advent of agriculture meant, most importantly, the production of a food surplus, which in turn allowed specialization (soldiers, scientists, child rearing, etc.) which lead to the insatable drive to get more land to farm, and feed the cycle. &nbsp

Hey Doc, the cartoon you posted reminds me of a wonderful poster i saw once, and have not been able to find since. (Wish i had a link...) The poster showed four north American Indians (first nations warriors) standing together, some with bows, some with rifles, all dressed with stereo-typical garb. The caption read: "Doing homeland security since 1492."

I like the phrase the musician uses to sum up history. "History ...rhymes." Iin ST Next Generation, where the enterprise finds 3 in-stasis persons from pre-warpdrive earth, floating in space, 'asleep for ages.' Also, the Romulus, who have been 'busy' elsewhere show up to re-assert their own unique form of snobbery (accompanied with their typical display of nasty weapon-threats). The three survivors of the der

What the article, after a QUICK reading, is suggesting is this: the hunter-gatherer indigenous population(s) of 'europe,' when the last major ice sheets retreated north, were mostly replaced by agrarian settlers from the 'middle east.' It suggested that this was similar to the experience of many first nations in the western hemisphere upon their 'meeting' major colonizing efforts of the Europeans. The article, also suggests that the methodologies us

Gwenio1, so the basic 'unit' of territory in Star rulers is a 'solar system?' Its an intriguing concept....

Admiral Rom, I'm happy you found you like DW. Its my fav space game right now.. but mainly because of the extensive use of AI coupled with the ability to 'mod' the experience by deciding how much to give to the AI to run, and how much I want to run.... I wish more games would adopt this approach - give us users maximum mod ability and maximum customization over the environment. Whatever the genre.... I still thi

Yes, I play Space Empires V, with the Balance mod" and sometimes, the gitzy galaxy mod. I like it. There is also a mod that makes colonizing much more difficult. I play that one, although i think some of the 'new' components, techs, etc are broken. Still a novel experience. Whats with the PMB, seems like no plays anymore, except for that 'play by committee' clique.

Rogue captain: as an ex military man, I am very happy you can now speak the truth about (much - not all) of our leaders' true intentions about how to use the massive military we have. And, yes, its pretty apparent that the US and China are on a collision course, both going "full speed ahead." And zero-sum resources in an ever smaller world will, likely, bring on another 'cold war.' And proxy wars will continue to flourish. Haven't you ever wondere

Yes, I have found revo-uninstaller to be a very handy program to uninstall games, and also get the 'left over' files and registry entries safely. I think I got it at c-net. Its slow to load up.... but is quick and through in un-installing programs... 'completely.'

I have started 3 games since the beta update, and dropped two within 1/2 of starting, for the exact same reason: stuck between a mountain range and the ocean.. The third game was OK, and is still in progress.....

Oh, the movie... my experience of viewing Blood Diamonds was very emotional. i ran the gamut of feelings, anger, fear, sorrow, empathy, and even a brief bit of rage. The movie is kinda in the Charles Dickens tradition, but very updated. Yes, we humans, (Homo sapiens sapiens) have within us the sparks to ascend to the very heights of the heavens, and to descend to the very depths of sheol. We can do great good and great evil. And some can grow and

agree with above... well said.... re Canadian diamonds ... and my take on earlier comments re: religion in American life (KFC): Yes, and the Untied Fruit company (dole?) jury rigged an Marine invasion of the independent, sovereign county of Hawaii, and enslaved many of its citizens so American (US) plantations (cheaper pineapples and sugar cane) could be created by 'entrepreneurs.' Christians were there to missionize the

I am looking for a very easy, simple image cropping tool. I don't need bells and whistles. just want to crop excess off sides, top of a digital image so it is small enough in size to upload. Ms paint doesn't seem to allow this. And i tried three 'tools' via search and found nasty stuff that forces installing google tool bar, and redirects. There must be an easy program, like paint, that will do a simple and easy crop the sides and top of photo awa
