Because mana is global, strategic spells no longer need a caster but can simply be "cast" on the map which gives rise to all kinds of things that just didn't make sense when the caster had to be physically located nearby. There's not really enough info here for me to understand how it's going to work & it's implications:+1 mana from shards seems very weak if it's offset with -1 to champions imbued with magic, and summoned monsters are -1 ? So, if you both imbue and summon just one monster that means you're losing -1 mana every turn? This doesn't seem right to me. What about champions that summon monsters? do those champions get +1 from the shard and -1 summoning. There's not enough detailed info given here
Other games on the highest difficulty are actually difficult. Meaning if you crank it up that high you should be prepared to lose and lose A LOT. It should be a case of "careful what you wish for"
Actually, it's been my experience that most strategy RTS & TBS games don't have good AIs on any difficulty, those with good AI are few & far in betweeen

Something happened to the archers. There was another update today (I had already updated to 1.08), and I had an archer 4-man group with attack 24, using longbows attacking a group with defense 8, for 15 rounds, 30 attacks nothing but misses!!! Do I need to restart another game now that this one is on turn 200ish? I should've hit just about every time with 24 vs 8.

I noticed that there are significanly less level 0 starting goodie huts. I was actually out of metal for 18 turns at the start of my current game, I couldn't find a wrecked caravan .. should've build that workshop right off .. less huts, less gold purses, less wrecked caravans, less ancient battlefields ..

Please return the Sovereign Organized Ability to the way it was before 1.08. 2. Please bring back 5 mana Teleports. They made the game much more enjoyable. 3. Please install a slide/scroll bar on the "empire tree" on the strategic screen. Such a bar exists on the tactical scr

I've been able to win just about every battle by picking off enemies at a distance. Monsters with 1000+ hit points will definitely make the magic nuke less of an end-all, but that doesn't solve the problem of armies of soldiers getting swept aside by this stuff, or sovereigns and heroes just dying in an instant. Is this supposed to be a sarcastic thread? There is absolutely no difference in item shop costs with version 1.08. Ceder longbow is still 152 gilder, same as it was before .. btw so is the price of everything else too. The only changes I've seen so far are 75% reduction in gold & experience from combat and a flat 1mp cost across terrain types (basically units go a bit faster through woods now).
You now get only half the gold from battles, so its harder to get gold (though another official SD thread indicated there are more gold resources; I managed to snub one near an AI's first settlement before their borders extended there ). I think this could help make regular non-hero troops more useful ... instead of just letting monsters roam near your settlements, send your guard troops out to intercept. Because each battle gives less gold, you need t

I've read just about every post in this thread over the past 4 pages and I think 90% are completely useless, non-objective garbage which bring nothing of use to the game or its players nor do they even cover the thread topic which was adding an “epic” scale to the game. Who gives a crup if the thread poster miss-used the “majority” as the title in the topic & lumped all of us in the pot? It’s fargin useless. Why anyone would care or find fault with this

I enjoyed dw very much. I think it's the best 4x space game since MOO2 (MOO3 sux), and I've played a lot of them as strategy games are my genre-of-choice or forte. As a matter of fact, I've been playing DW since just before EWOW arrived but put it on pause as I've been playing EWOW heavily for a week or so since I got my preorder. I'll go back to DW once I unlock all the techs in this game and see everything that I've missed so far. I think DW has a much better AI than EWOW does rig

And going along with this, making the AI competent enough to use it & counter human's using it against it is more important than adding this new unit. The games AI is already a "walk over", I don't want to become a "steam roll-over". The number of men that cna actually attack the enemy would be lower than 50. You're
