I don't care about a list, I want to see shit get done. If you can count to two, you can count the exact number of changes implemented since FE release that were specifically aimed at modding. They fixed a type of event trigger, then they fixed terraintype overwrites from /mods/ folder. That's what has come from Frogboy saying he'll focus on modding after release, then after patch 1.2. Does anyone even know if this has been imp
SeanW3 has left, Heavenfall is on the leave (or at least quite dispirited, with reasons). No one proposed a library of additional stamps, a new map or scenario.
I will still be here, come sunshine or rain. But I've reached the end of what I am willing to do with the current tools. No mod of mine for FE is currently being developed. Undecided if I will convert Stormworld to FE:LH yet - as Frogboy put it, "expect nothing". Depe
Some traits for monsters do have combat ratings, but I don't know if the value is added flat or something else.
Experience is straight up collected from the enemy's Combat Rating, which is a hidden value. You receive a very rough estimate when you look at an enemy and it tells you whether they are Strong, Lethal, Epic and so on. Units that fight for AI factions also give significantly less experience. But other than that, generally it goes that the stronger and more dangerous enemy, the more experience you'll get. Since there is such a vast amount of variations of each monster (even a s
Alpha Centauri, of course. Beautiful, thematic lore built into a great game.
Nothing about that is in any way going to inspire me to support the kickstarter. Summed up: 1) The devs have no experience building games outside of flash/facebook/mobile apps. 2) The license is going to cost a hell of a lot more than 50k - the 50k are costs for just entering the negotiations 3) They are looking for our money to help them buy licenses so they can then sell the games to us 4) Their goal is actually to turn homeworld 2, one of the greatest games
In-game data: Very modifiable through XML. 3/5, would be 5/5 if you fixed the many issues with the in-game workshop tools and the object insanity in /mods/ and listened to one or two suggestions. Graphics and 3d models: I would honestly rate this at the highest I've ever seen in any game. Excellently done. 4/5, would be 5/5 if you released all the models used (NS2 did that) and allowed for animations and skeletons to load to any 3d call (so we could make an animated crown for exam
Frogboy said one of the good things about using Steamworks is that it will open up for using the workshop in the future. When that is was unclear.
For those that get traits on level-up yes, for unit design no.

You can work around 6) by requiring a resource and having that resource produced locally by an improvement.
I have also commonly seen requested the ability to modify player-made factions and sovereigns through in-game UI, but I see that as a huge programming task and basically unobtainable if you are looking for bite-sized fixes. It would be in my top 5 otherwise.

It is depressing to see that the many reports of issues have gone unnoticed. I'd gladly write some concise suggestions for how to improve the available tools and the /mods/ folder, but let's look at the process shall we? Step 1. Make reports. Step 2. Most of it doesn't get read. Step 3. Devs only look for bite-sized bits with "a lot of impact". Step 4. Then they get put on a list and forwarded for a "maybe". Step 5. A few months, half a year
Glad to see it get made, but not going to pledge anything. Once past the initial funding it's just preordering a product. I'll buy it when it comes out.
I think building an RPG would be perfectly feasibly, simply because it means just removing half the game (city-building). You can play an RPG currently by just not building any cities. It'd be pretty bad though, since you can't do much with tactical combat (no terrain bonuses, no line of sight, no flanking or any such things). Interaction with other factions would also be restricted to current mechanics and quests. Alternatively doing a scenario (allows for slightly more scrip
There's just very little (almost none) flexibility. We can change values and the face of things, but if you want something to work DIFFERENTLY then 99% of the cases it won't work. For me, modding FE is about thinking what can be done before I even think about what I'd like to do. If it were flexible, I would be thinking what I'd like to do and then how to do it.
Ironically, my "prediction" was that whatever was revealed would turn win8 into win7. Although that was hardly a wild guess, having read Frogboy's thoughts on win8.
Indeed, the current defaultvalue is saved forever when creating a new faction. 6.0000
Natural Selection 2, but I'm also playing around with some Don't Starve (almost the entire game is executed from moddable LUA files).
While FE shipped with the ability to add more content, it's slipping in modifiability compared to some other games. I've started modding another game and it really puts in perspective the shortcomings of FE modding. Object sanity. In-game mod manager. Scripting. Interaction with UI. Other areas go basically un-used because they are grossly un-polished. Map maker. Scenario creation. Tile editor. Personally I'm tired of waving the flag to wait 6 months for a tiny fix to a co
I have been reading several articles stating that PC sales have been tanking hard. Giving way to Consoles, Smart Phones, and Tablets. While the thought of the MS empire falling does put a little smile on my face. I cant help but think of what will happen to the PC Gaming market. I cant see myself playing a complex game like Sins, Gal Civ, or Planetary Annihilation on a "Tablet". I am used to building my own hulking "super gaming computer". Hand picking
The way it was phrased was that the player would have the ability, in the original statement.
