77. Added a mana maintenance window (so you can see where all your mana is going and disel any enchantments easily if you don't want to pay the maintenance cost anymore).
Then here is the warg skeleton, posted with permission http://www.mediafire.com/?wad84sbvxg7f8za That's what I used as a starting point for the expandedmounts mod Akil, if you have the time, the horse skeleton or the spider skeleton would be cool to have. That's purely personal interest, however, as I can use them to make more mounts out of the models already

20 Replies 77,300 Views

Oooh... the included model would make an excellent dwarf/barbarian. I won't use it, but I'd love some new modellers having a go at doing something with it!

The amount of people that could "design a patch" probably number in the single digits. Unless you mean just write ten sentences of "ideas" down on paper. KINGTS I feel for you, that's terrible. They really should have responded faster, or provided a simple alternative way to submit your spell.

Very nice! Thanks for working on releasing this, Akil. For those interested, this is the pack I used to create the modded drota/goblins in https://forums.elementalgame.com/400551 Two tips: make sure that you work with 32-bit versions of everything - Maya, havok content tools and other programs should all be 32-bit. Also, when choosing a havok content pack, make sure that you get the 7.1 version, NOT the latest version. Note

It is probably reasonable to assume that the cataclysm, which pretty much destroyed most of the things living on the planet, also killed off the fish and mammals in the waters. Fishable resource nodes would make sense, but food from any harbour wouldn't, in my opinion. For the same reason you can't just start farming anywhere on the map.

A really good article, I don't think I disagree with a single thing. However, there are still valid arguments against steam as a monopoly in the making. They just cannot reasonably be voiced by the physical retailers. Also, I think this sentence sounds dodgy:
Unlike at retail, the dominant players in the digital market do not get, nor do they ever ask for, better terms than the other players.
Does that mean that there's price-fixing going on by

Pre-placed resources work, yes. The 1) resources are not moddable. 2) and 3) are. 4) is sort of moddable, but with some limitations. 5) obviously moddable The resources in that map are pre-placed. Keep in mind you have pre-placed, and then 1) 2) 3) 4) resources get placed. There is also a map editor option to place a "random" resource, however I don't know if that works or how it works, but I know it's not used in the forge of souls map.

4 Replies 7,723 Views

The randomly placed resources are described here https://forums.elementalgame.com/399857 In summary, you got the following resources on a map at start 1) Resources that each player gains when starting (in 1.09e that's a gold mine, a forgotten library and a fertile land) 2) Resources that are randomly placed (see topic above) 3) Resources that are placed due to talents that give additional resources 4

There is no partial return on unfinished prestige production like there is on resources. For resources, if you produce 0.1 metal, you'll get one metal in 10 turns. For population, if you produce 0.1 prestige, you'll get 0 population in 10 turns. Royalty should maybe just be +1 prestige in the stationed city.

You need a level 3 city with a certain building in it. For empire, it's called War Council. For kingdom, it's called Command Post.

Re: that drota enclave. I noticed AI in 1.09e won't build improvements on world resources that require a technology, if they don't have the tech when it first falls within their influence. If they gain the tech later, it is never built.

Hey, I see you changed the title to include the eMOD tag. It's sort of being used for mods that are ready for download, so it would be great if you didn't use it (just trying to keep it clean for the users). Nice update by the way, it's always fun to read what people are doing. Also, if you want to use anything I've posted in other mods (mounts, the goblin models, the elves tileset from the community project) you should feel free to do so. Anything to speed along the creative process.

50 Replies 47,673 Views

Wouldn't the easiest approach be to just have a specific tag that tells you what the spell does? TacticalAOEdamage TacticalSingledamage TacticalSelfBuff TacticalFriendlyBuff TacticalHeal TacticalAvoidance (blinks and whatnot) and so on? That would give the modders something to "tap into" as well. Then the AI can decide, based on that + which is the strongest spell what to cast.

20 Replies 49,055 Views

Looking forward to trying this out! Looks like a huge mod. When the Ai is designing new units, it automatically selects the weapon with the highest attack, and the chest armor with the highest defense. So unless you want to give your weapons/armor that strong bonuses (I don't think you want that) your best choice is to go with the pre-designed units.

Reply to How? in War of Magic

Area of influence grows from cities. To make your cities grow more influence, you need to increase the level of the city, by allowing more population to live in it.

No, each mount skeleton contains a fixed point where the rider is attached. The original rider skeleton is still used for the rider (the rider is simply switched to a different set of animations).

I'm thinking about making a "veiled darkling" (kingdom) faction with this as a starting-point http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/5539/elemental1290900329.jpg I would break up the mask like I did with the drota/goblin masks (however this would look more cloth-y). The question I have is do you guys think this would give the new faction a sufficiently unique look? (like the drota, very little of
