Is there any chance you could upload these videos to youtube or something instead? screencast.com is like 30 times slower for me, and I'm not kidding about that. For every ten seconds, it takes about 3 minutes to load.
Normal is the highest difficulty without cheating. If you don't want to get killed by bandits in turn 2, don't put every point into research, metal, mana, gildar, food, arcane knowledge, charisma, and diplomacy.

Why would it have to be written? Isn't any record a sign of history taking place? I guess it depends on what you mean by history - is history all the events that have taken place, or is history what people have written into books and believe happened?

Fortress is pretty bland. Maybe it gives a real "view" of what it was like, I don't know. Story, acting, cgi, all weak. If you're going to watch it, don't read the descriptions before.
